Hey all, finally got to attand Otakon this year after like 3 years of attempts that were foiled by money (lack of), joblessness, and jobness (darn managers not understanding we need stuff like this to keep us from hurting customers) and am really looking forward to a few other anime cons too. I noticed Nekocon is coming up, and is close by (I'm an Eastern Shore person near Dover, DE) and after looking over posts it seems like a pretty neat con... So what's to expect? I know nothing the size of Otakon and such but tell me your thoughts on it?
If I am able to come I'd like to come for all the days, and will hopefully have my Sadamitsu costume done. (Yay!) I'll also probably bring along my suit and do one of the Crazy 88's for fun as I saw someone needed some 88's.
So fill me in on what the con's like and such! :bigtu:

I've never been to Neko myself, and I've WANTED to go.. but it's always so close to Otakon that by the time I'm done with it.. I'm spent XD

People tell me it's a great con, I MIGHT attempt it, but I have my doubts that it will happen c.c

Good luck on attending the con this year though, if you go tell me all about it x.x

Aw, that'd be cool. I managed to go to Otakon this year as well, with a few friends of mine. It was awesome, no? But anyway... we're all thinking of piling back into the car and heading off to another con asap. XD I heard Nekocon is smaller, but it seems pretty popular...

I went as Gogo to Otakon, and I didn't think I'd do the same for Neko, but hey... who knows, now. ^^

I heard that there are a lot of fanboys and drunken college girl parties :)

Sounds good enough for me.

I really can't tell ya what to expect... I mean, I've gone the last two years, but this year it's in a new venue; a MUCH larger one at that, so I dunno...

I've never been to Nekocon, either! This was the closest con to me I could find at a reasonable date (all the cons in upstate NY were cancelled). But remember to get hotel reservations! (unless you live close enough to drive)

I heard that there are a lot of fanboys and drunken college girl parties.Yeah that basically sums it up... people there are friendly, many are perhaps too friendly (if you hate signs or scantily-clad catgirls then think twice about going). It is a good hangout con in a nice area, though.

I'm thinking about going. I haven't been to a small con before and this will be my first small (Anime Epxo First con ever she went to) So ya what should i be looking for?

I work at Canon, which is across the street from where Nekocon 7 is going to be.

I went to Nekocon 6 and 5. Has that small con feel in a good way. Small, but quite nice. ^^;

Well I love giving and receiving hugs so signs? No problem... And scantily clad catgirls and such? Bonus! :bigtu:
I guess I'll be the barechested Sadamitsu running around hugging and generally being a silly goof. :dance:

Anyone know what the Dealer's room is like? Or how crowded the con in general is? I've also been hearing stuff like that not many people cosplay? x_x;;; true or no?

Apparently things will be different, cause before they used a hotel convention center, but this time they got a real convention center, so it'll be a new experience for a lot of the con goers new and old. If you go to Fan's View and look at past Nekocon sections, it seems that plenty of people do cosplay. I know I will atleast. I was to lazy to put my Zenigata outfit on at Otakon cause it was so hot and as much as I love my old trenchcoat; it's like wearing a sauna sometimes. x.x Oh well, i'll definitely be in my real Dr. Hentai gear this time as well. :bigtu:

My first time too... though my first (and only previous) con was AMA, and that's small too. ^_^ The only part that worries me is my little sister. The fact that "there are a lot of fanboys and drunken college girl parties" scares me a little. And my parents are not going to be happy if we don't get any rest because of said parties. Are these in the hotel? Sorry, I'm clueless cuz we didn't stay @ AMA overnight. Curious...

I went to Nekocon last year. It was pretty fun overall. The con was really late starting everything up and pretty unreliable, but the people being awesome made up for it. There were still a couple really freaking cool events held by the con though: hentai panel, fans bashing fans, and strip Puzzle Fighter were my favorites. Although, I hear that strip puzzle fighter will not be returning this year despite religiously carding the contestants last year. I will be in my Itachi costume this year, and I may or may not have real sharingan contacts. Otherwise I'll have just plain red ones again.

Seapking of weird convention events. Does anyone know if Nekocon has an Anime Hell type event? Those are always a lot of fun.

I'm attending Neko Con for the first time with my boyfriend Yukio this year! I'm really looking forward to it! Does anyone have a rough estimate of about how big it is-- compared to other cons?
I've been to Katsucon in VA and that's probably my biggest so far

Hehe, I remember you! I was the Itachi at AZ 2004. I'll be back as Itachi on Saturday at Nekocon. I hope to have Morpheus' battle costume from the second volume of the Sandman done for Nekocon too.

I was at Nekocon last year, and all in all, it was pretty fun. The only problem we had was a few jerky staafers and some confusion when the reg and pre-reg lines opened up on Friday morning.

Other than that, the con ran pretty smoothly. It's definitely more of a chilled-out con than say, Katsu. AMA is kinda rowdy at times in comparison to last year's Nekocon.

I'm looking forward to interesting late-night discussions with strangers in the lobbies. Bring your caffiene...

Of the 3 cons I went to last year Neko/Katsu/Otakon

This was by far my favorite. Not so much content wise as the other two had much more offered. Needless to say this is a relatively small con but in turn it offers things larger cons don't. With only 2k people +/- its rare you'll miss a certain costume or online friend. Out of all 3 art auctions, the only piece I purchased was here, simply because it was an amazing work, in turn some artist/designers can't make it to larger cons and you can find some very nice things here. You meet alot of "interesting" people sometimes, and if you cosplay you may get a line of followers =/

Theres still alot of things all cons have:
Decent size dealers room, the cosplay, rave(read as dance), panels, amvs, and viewings.

Since I was at this center only for prom, I can't say much of if they have food/over priced food here but there are alot of really good restaurants within a 5 min drive of the center ^^;

I don't know the con overall is very enjoyable, the small con atmosphere is very nice after 2 larger cons. Security will make sure your props are peace bonded(I went out to my car after getting my badge to get my wavemaster staff and as soon as I walk in guys like 'Thats not peace bound')

Thats my random splew of thoughts on Neko though ^_^

Nekocon was my very first con and i loved every minute of it! AMA was OK nothing to write home about you know, but Neko was awesome I can't wait to see everyone again! :bouncer:

This will be my...*counts* fifth year at Nekocon.
Neko is like a second home to me, really. It's such a great con. I gotta go with what everyone else has been saying: the people can be...a little too friendly, perhaps, and there is the overwhelming stench of unwashed otaku (a.k.a. "The Con Funk"), but I've always had a really great time.

The convention center they're holding it in is the place from 2000, right? I was there for that one; it's a nice place, too big for Nekocon at the time, but probably just the right size now. As much as I absolutely loved the Howard Johnson, I think this will be a good move.

Oh, sheenaringo? I think your baby would be fine at the con! Will the little one be cosplaying? ^_^

Anyways, everyone thinking about coming should definitely go! I hope to see you all there!

Just my two cents ^_^:

I've been to Neko twice, and it was my first con experience. Though it is small, I think the atmosphere is good, and the people are friendly. I know a few people who, after going to larger cons, thought Neko was kinda lame, but if you like a more relaxed atmosphere, it's a good place to go.

And now that they moved it back to the convention center, it won't seem as cramped as last year ^^;;
