Does anyone know of a site with the original untranslated Japanese lyrics (in Japanese fonts would be preferable) to 'Hikari'? I translated the lyrics as I heard them in the song... and though they are quite amusing ("Turn off the television and only watch me!"), I'm curious about what the *real* lyrics are. ^^ I bet my version is one of the cases of truly amusing misheard lyrics, but I want to know how off I am.

Hm... you know, I own the soundtrack. ^_^;;; I never thought to check if the lyrics were printed on the little booklet. I guess if I haven't thrown it away, I can read it there. *wins the retard of the year award* Ok, I'll go check for that thing now...

Its okay celine, we all have done things that are say obvious but not in our head. I was walking to my car and thought I forgot my car keys when they were in my hand.

Getting the song.... ummm either download it from kazza or buy the soundtrack. I'd personally buy it but haven't had a chance to yet but soon.

Ah, you see! It is a good thing that I checked the real lyrics. You cannot trust romaji! The lyrics they have on that site are slightly incorrect. ^^ I was pretty darn close. The real lyric *is* "Turn off the television and only watch me!"

Really incorrect lyrics... wow I wouldn't have noticed at all. Thats great you got really close. I hope to one day start learning japanese again.

Oops, I guess I'm a little late. Should I still post the scan?

I've got both the Japanese and English versions of Hikari myself.

Kirby- Ah, it's okay. If anyone else asks, I have the actual text, which is usually easier to read than a scan. ^_^

Here's the English lyrics just for the heck of it:

Simple And Clean (English Version Of Hikari)
Hikaru Utada

When you walk away
You don't hear me say please
Oh baby, don't go
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go

You're giving me too many things
Lately you're all I need
You smiled at me and said,

Don't get me wrong I love you
But does that mean I have to meet your father?
When we are older you'll understand
What I meant when I said "No,
I don't think life is quite that simple"

When you walk away
You don't hear me say please
Oh baby, don't go
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go

The daily things that keep us all busy
Are confusing me
That's when you came to me and said,

Wish I could prove I love you
But does that mean I have to walk on water?
When we are older you'll understand
It's enough when I say so
And maybe some things are that simple

When you walk away
You don't hear me say please
Oh baby, don't go
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go

Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning
Is a little later on
Regardless of warnings the future doesn't scare me at all
Nothing's like before

When you walk away
You don't hear me say please
Oh baby, don't go
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go

Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning
Is a little later on
Regardless of warnings the future doesn't scare me at all
Nothing's like before

...know what's lame? The English version is not nearly as entertaining as the Japanese version because it does not have those two crucial lines: "Turn off the television and only watch me!" and "Let's eat tasty food today!"

(Go Celine! Heehee ^_^)
