Has anyone cosplayed as a character from this good, but fairly unknown MegaTen offshoot RPG series? Just curious.

I loved the games, cuz you know... the high school setting of the first one was easy to relate to and the storyline of the second one, Eternal Punishment, was just too good.

I have.. I have a Maki (Mary) costume. I've worn it a couple times, and I love it. Used to have a picture in the galleries, but I deleated it.

But there are NEVER enough Persona cosplayers. There's a small contingent of Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment cosplayers, but very few from the original.

My first cosplay ever was Eriko Kirishima (Ellen) from EP, I've also cosplayed as Ulala! I've always wanted to cosplay as Ellen from the first Persona, but I haven't had the chance yet. >_<

*hmmmmmns and taps her chin thoughtfully* Well.................. not entirely sure that I'm going to be going to Katsu............... BUUUUUUUUUT. Should we try to get a group together at that time? Or for another con? *sniffs and hugs Heather* You know, that maybe we can hang out for more than like 5 minutes.

YES~ we totally should. Manderina is also going to Katsu possibly as well -- and I'm sure she'd love to bring one of her Persona costumes! I'll talk to her about it! ^_^

*pinches Archelon's cheeks* You make such an awesome Katsuya~! XD

I have seen a few Persona cosplayers, most notably one very stunning Maya (I think I saw her at Katsucon a few years back): http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=26358

Perhaps more Persona costumers will surface as the series sees (marginally!) wider release here. ^_^

Well, with Digital Devil Saga and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne being released this year, we might begin to see more and more cosplayers from this series.

I'm a bad person and have never actually played the games (I'd love to but I'm currently lacking the PS) but I love the character designs. I did Eros earlier this year and am now working on Artemisia (My deadline is 27 days from now and I came up with the idea yesterday. Am I doomed or what?).

My friends and I are contemplating doing Persona 3 cosplay for Ohayocon. (so far, looks like Akihiko, Junpei, main character, and perhaps one other character....)

The four of us live in the same apartment, so we all got sucked into the game because a certain one of our members was playing it all the time. :P

After picking it up myself, I've found that I really love the game so far, even though I dislike most of the characters except for Mitsuru and the protagonist. (<---I want to cosplay him and walk around the con with "Burn My Dread" playing on my headphones all the time, ahah)

Man, can't wait to honor picture requests. So many pseudo-suicides in that game...

Me and my friends are pulling together a Persona 3 group for Sakuracon and Kumoricon. (We have the main character, Mitsuru, Yukari, Junpei, Jack Frost [or Gourmet King, he hasn't decided yet] and possibly a Fuuka and Chidori.) The jacket is giving us a bit of trouble though.

My friends and I have part of the Persona 3 cast. I'm the main character, shiri_tori's our Ken, and another one is Mitsuru ^-^. But we so want an Akihiko and a Junpei ><. Persona needs so much more love and cosplayers!

I'll be doing the hero from Persona 3 at AX 2007. My friend has talked about wanting to do Thanatos, which would be awesome if he can pull it off. Someday, I'd like to do Apollo from Persona 2, but that'll be near the end of my cosplaying career.
Everybody should cosplay more Shin Megami Tensei, it's such a spectacular series and the character (and monster) designs rival anything from Square-Enix.

Y'know, hearing about more people doing P3 cosplays for Acen is definately making me want to go to the con even more- I'm going to have to start putting aside my money so I'll be able to afford a hotel room XD

Here's a question- in the artbook, in the tiny little illustration detailing the invoker (yay for not being able to read japanese!), there's a little blue bit on the handle, and for some reason my mind got to thinking that it was illuminated. I was watching in the cutscenes for it, but it's still not really clear if it is or not. What do you guys think?

If it is, I'm thinking of maybe getting a few LEDs and embedding them into it when I make it to make it light up XD

I'm planning on slowly getting a Junpei costume together. This year I'll just be going in his summer attire, but I hope to slowly add to it.
If anyone want to give me tips as to how I could create his emblem/adhere it to a hat, let me know.
I attached a small pic of his hat. Fan art, but still accurate.

I've decided to go easy on myself for the main character's costume. Does anybody know what kind of jacket/pants would work for it?

Actually you have Audhulma for this one, she pointed a good coat out to me, wayy back last year. A simple double breasted blazer is the way to go. And as far as pants go, simple black pants are fine--well scratch that, formal black pants, with pockets.

Hey everyone! I am in dire need of help! I have a good start on my Junpei costume (accessory-wise anyway), and I need some ideas how to make the jacket! We are assuming that it is double breasted with zippers (obviously), but does anyone know of any patterns we could use for the jacket and how to do the hidden pockets. ^^;;;; Any and all help would be much appreciated. @_@

Far to my knowledge, there really aren't any patterns for these kinds of blazers--it's really not to complicated. Me and my friends found our blazers at Goodwill and one got her's at Ross. Double-breasted blazers are apparently 'in' right now, so you should find an easily modifiable one.

Now, if you're going by in game, or by concept art--there's some slight differences. For example the zippers magicly turn into white piping in some screens and then back to zippers. Either way, it's kinda a two person job: you're going to have to have someone pin the zippers or the white piping onto the blazer while you're in it (well, you don't HAVE to, but it goes with your body's curves more). Sewing the zippers into the pockets is also like wise going to be kind of a challange, because no one makes zippers that small, you'll either have to order them, or sew them in yourself and hide the extra.
Keep in mind to use Jacket zippers for the sides of the blazer if you go with zippers--otherwise, you'll have a headache for such an easily solved problem--trust me, I know.

It's not really back-breaking hard, just kinda something you need to devote an afternoon too. Also, the buttons and the arm band are available through COSPA. I would however, just suggest you make them instead of spending A LOT on shipping and going through shipping companies and what not...

You can check my gallery, under one of the pictures for Ken, I kinda go through the process a lot better...^^;;

I hope this helps, I'm still getting the used to cosplay myself...

I'd love to take Athena as my next project but I have this feeling that it isn't necessarily the best of ideas. Considering the amount of money I put into making Artemisia, Athena isn't probably going to be any cheaper. And that shield doesn't look too practical. Nor does the spear. Hmm. I'm planning on doing Aigis as well, and instead of smushing my feet up into cylinders, I just plan on getting some high heels or something and then covering the shoe with silver vinyl so it looks like one solid bottom part. Uhh, I hope I was able to describe that okay XD;

I'm cosplaying Ryouji and Minato for Anime Evolution and Ryouji for MTAC this year. Looking for Ryouji's... double suspenders? I really have no idea if there's a special word for it xD. They cross at the back, but there's two parts to it on each side? I'm bad at describing it http://www.dokuganryu.com/scans/megaten/p3/art73.jpg http://www.dokuganryu.com/scans/megaten/p3/art37.jpg So if anyone knows if you can buy something like that, that would be great but I'm thinking I'd have to make them.

It looks like her leg gets bigger starting at her knee anyway, so probably just something that would cover from the tip of your shoe to your knee? Like a big half cylinder xD. Or maybe something like a really sturdy boot cover.

You can go ahead and just print it out and place in a button and use that way--or as a base for making a patch to sew on (the official COSPA ones are patches) feel free to modify if you'd like, it'd the right size either way...

There have been some Malaysian cosplayers who've done it, they did a wonderful job--the girl, did some kind of armor plating on her legs--I can't for the life of me remember how to get to her site though...They had an Igor too now that I think about it...lucky jerks.

I just finished my Aegis [body suit v.]! I'm so happy about it. I used craft-foam and velco for the armor mostly so it didn't turn out that great but I'm still very proud of it. I'll be taking it to Anime Los Angeles tomorrow. Are there any other Persona 3 cosplayers going there? I'll post up pictures of it Sunday afternoon because I plan to do a night photoshoot with my friends there.

Oh and himawari1412, if you still are looking for ways to make her feet in look kinda solidishy, I made the white leg part [its connected to my underlayer body suit] and stretched it over a pair of boots, I think shoes can work as well. And then I just painted it silver.

Chidori would be an AMAZING cosplay. It would actually be really cool to get a small group together to do a Strega group. Alas, my favourite member of Strega doesn't wear a shirt... Just another hurdle for me to over come... (Stupid Takaya... ;_;)

Hello folks, my first post in this forum that I just found out of nowhere....

I'm just wondering a few things.

1) What would be a good material to create a large cup shaped item that will roughly be the size of my head.
2) What would be a good method of making lightweight hip guards that are roughly the same length as my legs, preferably with the ability to create space within them to hold items (such as portable speakers)
3) What item do I need/where can I get the item in question, that will permit me to connect a microphone to portable speakers.

I'm planning a Nyx Avatar costume.

The wings are going to be made mainly out of cloth, I'm not sure what kind of paint I'll be using to create the vein-like green/blue glow they hold across it.

I'm still not sure how I'll connect the wings to the clothes themselves as it is shown.

I'm still thinking out how I'll be making the suit form fitting as it should be, and the legs are also a bit of a problem. But I am nonetheless wanting to make myself a Nyx Avatar costume.

And if I have the time and the extra cash, a Ryouji costume to wear on the first day of the next Con I go to.

So um... yeah, I'd need help with the three questions I placed up above.

Please do explain where I can get whatever material you may refer to, and what said material is. I've never made my own cosplay costume before so... Though I did do the body paint for my friend's Hitoshura costume... stick a black cone to the back of his skull, make him wear some black shorts, then paint the crap out of him for 3 hours (two hours extra after he sleeps and screws up half the paint). But painting some guy's body and making a costume is pretty much two different things...

Turtleen

I'm also making Nyx and Ryouji, for the punchbowl I was thinking of just bristol board so that it would actually stay on a head, and usuing spirit gum to keep it on. You can buy that at any party supply store.
For the hip guards I'm just using regular fabric and putting interfacing on one side and wire inside the hems for extra support. I'm not too sure how you would fit speakers into something like that with fabric, but putting a little pocket on the side that would be against you might work if you did fabric?
Wings, again interfacing and wire for me. I'm attaching them to a belt and bending the wire so they go down then back up when there's an opening.

Hope that helps a bit? xD;

Hey all,

I just got started playing Persona 3, and I'm so in love with it. XD It's making me want to cosplay someone, namely Yukari [or Chidori, but her outfit looks really complicated. ;_;]

So, I was wondering if I could get some help. Which of these wigs would be good for her? I really like the Alicia wig (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=16278&cat=2446&page=1), but then I thought I should probably look for something with a little more flip at the ends and with some flexibility with the bangs.

Here are other wigs I'm considering:

For my Yukari cosplay, I got the Pat wig in the color 27 (strawberry blonde). It was really easy to style almost exactly like her hair, and the color is not too blonde and not too orange. I was considering the Monica wig for her as well, but the Pat really worked well for me. ^_^

Hello again everyone!

I finished my P3 main character costume for Ohayocon, figured I'd share my gallery of it (http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?cat=100424&member=27532) since I just finished uploading my pictures from my late night shoot with stillvisions.

I want to trim my wig a bit more and remake my jacket entirely, as well as re-do some other things, ahah. I hadn't made a jacket in that style before, so the drafting of the pattern was fairly difficult for me (not to mention the coat details change.....A LOT from illustration to illustration). I'm pretty sure I'll be able to nail it the second time through, though, and I still have my muslin mockup to refer back to. (I'm split between tearing my old jacket apart and rescuing zippers, or trying to sell off the jacket to gain back the materials cost...)

A lot of people seem to buy their coats from ebay or modify them from thrift store jackets, but if anyone ever needs tips on sewing one from scratch, I'd be glad to contribute what I've learned.

Turtleen

I loved your pictures Ryuu, and your jacket looks really good.
I also had problems finding out the details >_> there's so many different ways that it's drawn even in official pictures.

My sewing machine also actually ate my scarf xD it tore up one side of the black trim.

Yeah our Mitsuru ended up having a straight wig because it was so last minute and it was the only long red wig anyone had. When we tried to curl it we just screwed it up but you could still tell who she was if you knew the series so I'm happy.

Eep, yeah--last September we did the same kind of rush. We spent more time on our Devil Summoner cosplay--so this one got pushed to the side--well that and the game was just released in America, so we had little refs. Mitsuru's color is just so amazingly hard to achieve, I really am mystified as to what shades people use to get that right color...I'm sure it's a red base wig and some pigments, but I'm still trying to come up with a formula--and those curls--attempting with curlers was horrible...

hot glue... on skin.

and my chin kept falling off......... hopefully i will fix these before a-kon.

I feel your pain--I sharpie died our Mitsuru's wig--and it came out this HORRIBLE pink color--we have to buy another wig cause another attempt made it suddenly more Orange-goldish. And Ouch, hot glue? I'm afraid we may have to go to drastic measures like that to get our Hua Po's wings to stay up...

Curlers work, but only if you have curlers that don't heat up themselves. You can use hot water or a blow dryer (carefully!) on a low setting. -i know the pain with finding a wig :/ I finally used one that had more artbook than ingame color...

As for curlers, a curling iron only works on certain kinds of wigs and others it burns. Curlers can work, but you need a lot of hairspray and stuff on them.

I've found that a steamer on a low setting works very well. I haven't tried curling with actual curlers (we didn't have the resources once we were at the con) but steaming works for straightening and getting out tangles. Theoretically it should work for curling as well. If you want to make the wig go back to the style you bought it in all you have to do is wash it (they usually come with instructions on how). If you're using any type of heat I would recommend a test spot in a place where people won't see to make sure the wig won't melt and remember hairspray doesn't hurt (just don't use too much or get too close and max hold works best)!

Thanks so much for the tips! I'm really quite new to cosplaying and cosplay.com.

-jumps on the monorail before it leaves- Due to my now obsession with 3 (-squeals-) I am now joining the Persona 3 group that was at Megacon 2008 as Fuuka. I'm still pretty early in the game but I love it and for some reason I've liked Fuuka ever since I saw what she looks like (but I haven't gotten to her just yet in the game, maybe later tonight XD). I've also noticed like only 3-4 other Fuuka cosplayers out there. -scans the horizon-

Thanks Panda! Your Mitsuru wig is perfect btw =3

I got the basic form of Fuuka's skirt done. I swear the inner pleat pattern haunts me... First Emi from DDR, then Mikuru, now Fuuka XD At least I don't need to buy the pattern again! I did get to buy the fabric for Fuuka's blue shirt today (yay fabric!!! X3) but since I am moving in less than two weeks, I'm halting my sewing until I am settled into my new place =3

Panda - I'm still a novice at sewing but it's something that I'm passionate for =3 I want to work with costume designing as a career and my best friend/"twin sister" and I are putting the plans up for our commissioning business but we still need some experience before we get that up and running ^_^;;

Back onto Persona: The ribbons on Fuuka's shirt neck and sleeve ends, should I look for a ribbon that isn't shiny/satin or would satin be acceptable? I seriously cannot choose between the two. For my Mikuru cosplay I went with satin on the collar and cuffs but now when I look at it I'm thinking, "what was I thinking when I chose that?!" But for Fuuka, I'm torn. The fabric for the shirt is stretching but not shiny.... gah!!! -rips out hair-

Also, Just want to get another person's opinion on wig choice. I'm thinking of using the Z (zigzag part) wig from Amphigory.

I'm planning on the main character from Persona 3...or other words known as Minato.

But I was wondering, has anyone actually made an evoker? Any tips would be awesome. I was going to buy an air soft gun and modify it, but I decided that accuracy was better than actually having a 'real' gun. I plan to make it out of insulation foam. Is that a good choice of material to start with? I'll plan to paper mache is and such too. Tips for this would be awesome! =)

Lawl. I changed my mind. I started making an evoker out of insulation foam and it was horrible. So I am going to buy an air soft after all and modify it. XD.

Since this started with Persona 2, I'm guessing it's ok to ask a Persona 4 question.

If anyone knows where I can find a hat that's as close as possible to Naoto's I would be forever appreciative. I've spent over 4 hours looking and while I've found some candidates...nothing I'm sure I can commit to buying yet. It does NOT need to have the colored stripe going across the front (I can add that).

Likewise, if anyone has any ideas on how I should deal with the shoes, I'd also be appreciative.

Unfortunately reference pictures are kind of rare atm, here's the best one: http://community.livejournal.com/mayonakatv/10887.html#cutid1

I think it's pretty ironic that you brought those up as examples...I'll explain why.

The first problem I had with his hat was identifying what kind of hat it was. My initial guess was an officer's cap (which is what you showed, and it makes sense...I mean, he thinks he's a detective after all), but after discussing it amongst various people, we actually came to the conclusion that it most resembled a newsboy cap (or more specifically, a spitfire cap). Examples of these are as follow:

-http://www.kangolstore.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Hats-Kangol-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start;pgid=_FWgI0oUaoI000w69zKCHyZq00002hmYaFzO?Pr oductUUID=nYbAqAp4e8UAAAEWcaqCz0Q4&SGCatalogCategoryID=RybAqAqvZy0AAAEGWwKqFweG&JumpTo=OfferList

I actually think the 3rd one is the closest, but of course...they don't have the color I'm looking for.

Now what's ironic about this all is the the Japanese cosplayers I've seen do Naoto (which I'm sure you've seen too) also picked what appears to be officer's caps...

Regardless, I really like the first example you showed me, and it has also become a candidate, thanks!

Haha, interesting. I went with the police cap because Naoto is a detective. Well ... Self-proclaimed detective anyway. I was assuming that he'd have an officers cap to make himself look more official with the law.

But the paperboy hats do look nice indeed! Good choices!

I think that spitfire hat looks like the right match for his, but the police cap would also make sense.

Yeah I noticed just after posting actually that it's navy blue...
That would be a bit more of a problem. It actually looks like it wouldn't be that hard to make, but the officer's cap would also make sense with his detective thing.

Ugh, is Naoto he or she?! It doesn't make any difference for me if I were to cosplay him/her/it, but it's usually nice to know whether to call someone he or she XD
S/he uses masculine speech patterns like 'boku' but normally someone his age would use 'ore', but he could just be being more formal... then there's the shadow selves picture. It could be photoshopped or it could just blatantly be, Naoto's a girl.

Naoto actually reminds me a lot of Kino from Kino no Tabi. Kino also used "boku" to refer to herself, and dressed like a guy (she also looks similar in face and build).

However, the picture that is the basis for Naoto being a girl looks incredibly fake to me...that and every cast member (outside of MC) has their shadow self there except for Naoto...kind of strange.

It's actually a bigger deal for someone like me (a guy) if Naoto were a guy/girl since society has a pretty brutal double-standard when it comes to that, but it wouldn't change anything since I've already planned to do him/her anyway.

I don't know if you can paint leather, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find a metallic suitcase. It's harder to find one on the cheap...but Kaiba, a character from Yugioh used a metallic suitcase, and they did produce it as a card binder...thing, if you can still find those, that's pretty much a perfect replica.

The toy grenade will be pretty difficult (especially nowadays), I agree with Shivachan and making it yourself may be your best bet.

Turtleen

For the grenades you could always papermache or get a foam ball and cut it into shape, it's pretty easy to do.

You can paint leather but, but it'll peel right off xD
The Yu-gi-oh one's a good idea, or you should be able to find a metallic briefcase on the internet somewhere, I doubt you'd find one in stores though.

I have some questions on Aigis's school girl uniform.

Should I just put trim on or should I be accurate and put zippers?
(ref: http://www.dokuganryu.com/scans/megaten/p3/art24.jpg)

Actually while looking at it, it looks like there is one zipper (on the right side) and on the left it's just trim. Can anyone clarify this? Because then that would make sense on how they get it on.

Also what fabric would someone suggest for the shirt and skirt?

And what would be a good suggest to use for her, well, I don't know what to call it, but I guess 'skin' (the white things that comes up past her neck a little). Since I'll do the school uniform version would it be cheaper and easier to just buy a white turtle neck and modify it instead of a full body jump suit type thing.

I think that is all my questions. Thanks! Oh an if someone has any ideas to any patterns I could alter than that would be great! Thanks!

Also does anyone know of a good place to buy silver zippers? I don't think Jo anns had any last time I checked when I went there.

Mmmm... this thread is pretty long, so my apologies if this is redundant, but I posted something people might find useful for making the patch.

It's over in the Accessory & Prop forum:

I just finished mine (in the gallery) and I used 2 matching silver/gray parka sport zippers from JoAnn's (to make them stand out more and match the color) It worked out much better than I thought it might. I saw multiple references that had it both ways, so I just went with what made the most sense to me.

I used black non stretch gabardine (from Hancock Fabrics) for the skirt and jacket, and a white stretch cotton jersey for her neck piece. It was soft and breathable, which was nice, but did have a tendency to wrinkle. I hooked the ends over my ears, but I'd recommend putting them on a headband under your wig because my ears were KILLING me by the end of the first two hours I had it on :)

For the pattern I modified an outerwear sport jacket pattern. I did away with the collar entirely, cut the side panels short and inserted the center panel with zippers on either side. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me :)

Sorry for the insanely long post!

I have some questions on Aigis's school girl uniform.

With my sister's help, I'll be getting started on my Rise Kujikawa (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Rise_Kujikawa) costume soon. I'm so glad that my glasses will actually be a part of the costume for once! But I'm a little worried about the thigh high socks looking funny. Guess I better start doing lunges now...

I've always used my real hair in the past for costumes (which was such a pain because it does not hold a curl), but if I do Mitsuru and Rise in the same con next year, I'm gonna need a wig. Rise's hair is dark brown (with a little red maybe), and in any case, it's darker than Mitsuru's...but I'm a little concerned about styling the wig, and which costume to use my own hair for. It probably won't get long enough for Rise, since high pigtails hitting the shoulder means really long hair. Any suggestions for a wig novice?

As for your real hair... It's kinda reddish brown. But could pass for Rise.
You can use extensions if your real hair is too short.

Persona 4, FTW!!! :D

Hehe, that's one thing I love about wearing glasses and P4...THEY WEAR GLASSES! Lawl...xD...though oddly enough the MC's glasses looks like the ones I wear when I don't wear my contacts so maybe that is telling me I should cosplay him in the future...lawl! XD.

Hmm...if you are going to use a wig for her, then I would suggest this one...

http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_innocent.html

Though you most likely will have to dye it and straighten it, but it'll be worth it in a way since that wig was made for pigtails and you wouldn't have to add any extra wefts...hehe, though it doesn't exactly look it her style (you may have to do some cutting) and it doesn't really look like Mitsuru's (to me at least). There should be some threads around her on adding extra wefts...you may need to if you get a wig and put it up like that...though I think your real hair would work also...

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the advice, kowaipanda and jennarose!

As for using my real hair, I'm happy to dye it any color it needs to be, but I'm just curious about which character would be easier to wig. I didn't think about the fact that most wigs aren't made for pigtails, so maybe Mitsuru would be easier to wig... Extensions are definitely an option, but I'd need some major practice putting those in, too.

Doesn't the pattern on her skirt have a name? Ref (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Risep4.jpg)
I feel like it does and it's just on the tip of my tongue. I saw a decent gray skirt at H&M today but couldn't remember if Rise's was plaid or not (or if it was tan or gray).

Your welcome. ^_^

Hm...I think Mitsuru would be easier to wig honestly. The only thing you would have to do is style it if the wig doesn't come with bangs and find a good color.

Hm. I love the color for him SupremeKai, but the wig bothers me just a little since (when looking at a reference picture) his hair kind of shifts off to one side...I think you could acheive that look with that wig, but the bangs may be a little short. But I think the wig would work though, it's just the bangs not be as long to give it a more choppy look to his hair.

btw, the reference I was looking at
http://www.dokuganryu.com/scans/megaten/p3/12.jpg

The only other wig I really see there that may work and is in the same color is this one:

http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_femme_fatale.html

But it will require a complete style makeover and lots of cutting.

Or if you get something from cosworx then you have a few more options (in my opinion.)

Maybe this one in Dark Blue..

http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=16284&cat=2471&page=1

But just like that other one it will require some cutting, though I do suggest buying a few single sharpies (can be found at your local craft store usually) of dark blue and a dark purple color (and maybe even navy blue, though you may need to go online to get more colors since stores don't usually carry every single color...happened to me when I was looking for navy blue sharpies) and just hand color the wig a little to make it more darker and give it that blue/tinted purple look his color has (there is a thread sticked about sharpie dying).

http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26257&cat=2471&page=1

This one would work too maybe, though Dark Blue is all out of stock.

And maybe even this one.

http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=25880&cat=2447&page=1

That's really all I see that may work for him (though there most likely is more...heh heh)

But good luck finding and getting a wig! :D

Lawl, now I have a question on wigs...XD.

I am looking for a wig for Aegis and came across some of these...

http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_a_ruby.html

Now, the only thing that really bothers me is the color a little bit and if I would be able to straighten it or not...

http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_a_matilda.html
Again the color, and it may be a little too short...

http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_a_piper.html
Again, the color choice, and it may be a little too short...

http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_a_curious.html
This one may work, but it seems a little too blunt..if that makes sense...

http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=16440&cat=2446&page=1
I like that I am able to cut it myself since I want her bangs to be more choppy instead of just being cut straight across...but I don't know what color...

But then I have found this good wig on ebay which I would be able to use for her and Rhyme (from the World Ends With You)

It looked like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/Medium-BLONDE-short-layer-straight-wig-cosplay-fai_W0QQitemZ150283527946QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item1 50283527946&_trkparms=72%3A570%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C2 40%3A1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14
But the color was more of a yellow blonde. I hope they get it back in stock soon because it was perfect, though would a yellow blonde (not just plain yellow so it didn't look horrible) work for Aegis? Or would that wig right there work for her? Though it is kind of too dark in my opinion...

Eh, sorry sorry fro the long post! XD

Just a friendly bump, just encase cosplay wig gets that wig back in stock and I would need to order it before it goes out of stock again.

Any wig I get from Aegis will work for Rhyme, but I am just really debating on the color...

ginko
08-26-2008, 03:29 PM
Actually, jennarose, that last wig, I really like the color. It might be just a touch too dark, but there's a whole range of canon colors for Mitsuru's hair depending on whether you do in game or character designs, so I'm sure the same applies to Aigis.

Hi! I'm new to the forum/site but a long time Persona/SMT fan. I have a few questions to ask you guys. Some friends and I are planning to cosplay at AnimeUSA, which shall be our first time con experience. Time for the questions:

1)I've seen alot of home made Gekkoukan HS uniforms that have been home-made. What types of materials/clothing types do you guys use?

2)I've seen a post for left over GHS badge patches on here. Is it worth my time buying two for the friend and I?

3)What are cheap-looking toy guns that can be used as an evoker?

4) What is the easiest or cheapest way for getting a SEES armband?

5)The likeliness of a college student's budget... which should I go for? Home-made or store bought?

Thank you for your time and in advance for the advice

Well, I can't help you with most of those questions, but I can offer a little advice on #3 - we got spring guns from Walmart for $10 and took out all the moving parts. You could spray paint the body silver if you wanted to, just leave the tip orange.

My sister was selling homemade SEES armbands for $10 at Acen, but I don't know if she has any left. They were made out of red fabric and the logo was screen printed on. If you happen to have a screen printer, it makes a pretty good armband.

#5 as far as homemade vs. store bought, it really depends on your sewing ability, I think. If you can sew, it would be cheaper to make it.

-----

We went and got the fabric for Rise's top! Still working out the logistics of making it, though. I think I may go with a plaid (not houndstooth) skirt from H&M, because the length and cut is perfect. Plus, houndstooth fabric was really hard to find in gray!

Oh! I'll try to help you (Lawl...I'm in a good mood today. XDD)
Anyways,

1) I didn't make mine (I will in the near future), I just found a similar jacket at a second hand shop and altered it as much as I needed. Though if you decide to make them, then I would suggest some type of uniform twill, or you can maybe just go on Joanns.com or even google and type in uniform fabric and you'll get the name of it.

2) Hm. Out of all honesty, if you cannot do embroidery and you don't want to learn how, then I suggest then either buying them or getting them commissioned. I tried to just go the cheap way out (print it off with paper, and then glue it on but only because I was being Minato for the Animania at the mall), but it didn't turn out that well, though it worked. (pictures are in my gallery if you want to see.)

3) Hm, for a toy, you most likely may be able to find something at walmart or something, but I suggest maybe even look into an airsoft...just because they are more than likely made with better plastics and such. I got mine from an ebay store (http://myworld.ebay.com/airsoft-depot-1/)
The prices were great, and they shipped fast. Then you can always spray paint/paint details.

4) Cheapest most likely would be buying half (or even a yard) of red cotton fabric and buying those iron print transfers, print out the S.E.E.S., iron it on, and then get some black acrylic paint and paint the black lines on...that's how I did mine.

5) Hm, since it's not a very difficult costume, depending on your skills, home made would totally be cheaper for a college student since the cheapest I've seen (on ebay) is 100, shipping included.

Good luck! ^_^

Gray? I think it's just standard black and white. The nature of the pattern is probably alluding you to think it's gray.. but I don't know. Either way, I used the black and white and it looked fine. The fabric wasn't too hard to find at my local Hancock either.. only thing is, a yard of it runs for $9.99 and since I'm not exactly the skinniest person, I bought 2 yrds just in case. I think I ended up using around 1 3/4 of it though and I'm like borderlining on size 12 for pants sizes.

I guess the extra is nice for if I ever want to make on of the boy's uniform jackets though :P

Hey everyone. I'm new here, and I'm a first-time cosplayer planning to do a Junpei costume.

I'm wondering if you have any ideas on what to do for the hat? I really want it to look good since it is the type of thing that would really make or break the costume.

His hat is actually like a navy blue color.

You can either find a way to get the hat embroidered, make and iron on patch and stick that sucker on, or simply paint the design with acryllics.

Though if you look closely, his bangs are kind of long and just above hit chin, but they kind of go at an angle. So if you can part the first wig, and maybe razor the ends then I think it would work great.

This seems like a familiar scenario...

I agree, a good hat can make or break the costume since that's what people tend to notice first on Junpei. If cost is a non-issue, I highly recommend getting it embroidered, it looks so much better.

His hat is Navy Blue. His hat is also technically a fitted cap, although during the summer it magically turns into an adjustable cap...(yay art inconsistencies!)

A lot of people have problems determining the size of the emblem and I can't really blame them...(art inconsistencies yay!) It can't be too big, or too small, and ideally, the embroidery shouldn't be too thick. Mine was 1.5 in tall.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great suggestions. Unfortunately I have no talent in sewing/embroidery or anything of the sort, so I can't make the hat myself.

I've been told that there are stores that can do something like this for you, has anyone gone this route before? I'm hoping the cost won't be too much for that, as it seems to be my only option at this point...

Here's my plan so far:
Hat: will probably buy a navy cap and have the logo done by a professional
Shirt, pants, shoes, wallet chain: these are all easy, can just buy from a store
Jacket: probably will have to buy one from ebay or something, as I can't make it myself
Necklace/pendant: I have a gold chain which matches the necklace quite well, still not sure about the pendant
Belt/belt buckle: Hoping to find a similar belt when I go shopping for the other clothes, same for the buckle (I don't think it will kill the outfit if the buckle is slightly inaccurate)
Evoker(holster?): I could use some ideas on this - is there a good toy gun or airsoft gun that looks like the evokers?

That's kind of what I meant by "if cost was a non-issue". Embroidery, even for a small design, can be a bit costly. With the hat, it cost me about $60.

For the shirt, be careful that you get the right shade of blue. A lot of Junpeis I've seen get a lighter shade of blue than what he actually uses.

The pendent is actually easy to make or get commissioned. In reality, it's just a rectangleish piece of metal with 4 colored dots on it. I've actually seen similar pendents sold in stores though.

The belt is an argyle pattern, but unless you make it yourself, it'll be impossible to find his exact belt because the design is inconsistent with the left and right sides of the belt (oh boy, another art inconsistency!). Likewise, I don't think a belt buckle exists that is exactly like Junpeis, so unless you get that made you'll have to settle for something else.

The evoker is tricky business because it depends on what your con allows (more and more cons are cracking down on airsoft guns). In terms of accuracy, Resin probably gives you the most accurate result, but it's costly. I have seen pretty good evokers made out of wood though. I don't remember off-hand which model airsoft gun my airsoft was that I used (I also have a resin model). It's cheaper to just get the holster/belt made, real holsters are expensive as hell.

Hope that helps a bit.

best bet is to get a 45cm silver white...or white...sharpie it with grey a bit...and u got her hair...u'll have to trim her hair to suit u~ that's what i did for my elizabeth:)

try to add thickening when u order it..cz her hair is slightly poofy at the back...

=D YAYY. I finally found the thread. I'm planning to cosplay as Aigis in her usual gear..
So here are meh plans.

Headgear: Probably a black hair band with some sort of mold over it. The headphone pieces will probably be a mixture of craft foam and model magic. Perhaps resin for the red dealies.
Arm majigs & Leg majigs: Also a mixture of foam.. But I don't know if the model magic will hold well.
Bodysuit: Cotton for the white.
Black detail: I'm putting some sort of hose things in there. So it'll look more mechanical.

Regarding the gold bands on the arms and legs.. I don't know what I should be using. I want to be able to slip them on. I'm afraid clay will break? I'd like them to have a hard appearance. Yeahh. I'm creating my own shoes with a pair of pointe shoes. If that doesn't work, I'll probably make some crazy boot covers.

Does anyone think this'll work? I tend to do things a bit off.. So yeah.
Random question: Do the girls' school uniforms have two zippers in the front? I don't understand how it works..

Gwiffen

On both male and female uniforms, there's only one zipper. The other line is just there to emulate a second zipper and keep "symmetry." Confusing, yes. Especially on the guys' uniform since it doesn't zip up all the way...

Another question: How did you make her book?

lol!! the cheapest yet the most time consuming for me~

1. Largest cornflakes/cereal box u can get (or whatever size you prefer) -
2. mounting board (for the hardcover look n feel)
3. glue gun/3d gold paint (the ones that give that pop out feel - i used pebeo touch deco)
4. gold paint
5. brown paint (to give the streaking and worn effect)
6. plain a4 papers (to wrap your mounting board for the rounded edge look)
7. glue
8. stationery
9. uhh...double sided tape (if you are not using glue lol!)

all that is left to do is to draw the diagram (that star of david circle) some random characters below...cut, stick, paint and go! u can do reinforcement anywhere if u want

the reason for me being the most time consuming is that..
1. i have to wait for the cereal companies to produce the "additional 10% - 50%" box for the size that i want
2. after collecting n eating the cereals...my parents conveniently THROW AWAY THE BOXES i meant to save TT^TT
3. last resort was to buy the plain (seriously plain n tasteless to me) cereal by kellogg's cz they have the normal size biggest box~ (i avoided this throughout my search)
4. time to consume the tasteless cereal (not a fan of milk too) >_<"" i had to give half of the content to my hsemate ^-^"

If not, do you think boot covers would work?

I was thinking of just making my own boots. There should be a thread on that somewhere, but I'm too lazy to search for it.

What do you guys think about making Minato's music player? Too much? I really want to go for accuracy, but at the same time, I don't want to be spending twenty to thirty dollars on something no one will notice.

And can anyone tell me how to make the armband and make it so that it looks GOOD?

I'm thinking about making the mp3 player, too. I wish I could just use mine, but it's my PSP...not exactly gonna work.
So I'm either going to see if one of my friends has something even remotely similar that I can borrow, or I'll somehow make one out of a Sharpie.
Not sure how I'll manage that.

I second the armband question. I've gone through two tries already on both mine and my friends. I only have so much leftover red fabric laying around -___-.

EDIT:
I just thought of something XD! The headphones I have for Minato (which are partially why I'm cosplaying him. We wanted to do a P3 group, I love the character, and I already had similar headphones) Have an extension cord. I can make the mp3 player out of a hollowed out sharpie, then run the extension cord through it and hide my PSP in a pocket somewhere. That way I can have an accurate player and still be able to listen to music.

Does anyone have a good idea on how to make Aegis's body actually look metal? I saw one amazing Aegis cosplayer while browsing and it really looked like she was an actually robot (lawl). I was also thinking a plain white corset under the white cotton/spandex (or whichever fabric works best) may work since it'll give it that shape and that 'hard' feel. Any tips?

Rock-e

Perhaps craft foam? Cut parts out that would fit your belly, back, etc., mould it and then wear the spandex on top. But since you already have the corset you probably don't have to do this for your torso.

On the MP3 player:

In Canada, one store sells this: http://www.thesource.ca/estore/product.aspx?product=1411194&language=en-CA. It looks pretty close (although not exact...)

I was thinking of just making my own MP3 player out of pink housing insullation. I don't really care if it doesn't work. I can sing.

I also saw someone with this MP3 player, except in the grey and green colouring of Minato's: REALLY RIDICULOUSLY LONG LINK. I think you might want to get rid of the ridiculously long link...

Hm..craft foam may work...I'll have to experiment with that. Oh, I don't have a corest (yet...lawl), but from anyone who has worn them, do they actually work? And does anyone know of a good place to buy plain white ones or so.

Turtleen

Let me tell you, you won't want to wear it for a whole day XD It's impossible to breathe and pretty painful. So if you wear one, don't lace it up 'the way it should be', make sure it's just kind of there. Basically they go around your chest and stomach and it laces up at the back. You're supposed to pull it tightly but real humans can't keep that up for too long. That's why women used to pass out pretty often when they were used regularily 8D

I'm not sure where you can buy them, maybe ebay or something. I think it's kind of expensive to buy, but you can make them too. Just need the fabric, boning, grommets and ribbon. The boning's what makes it hard, it's in strips, you can get them in different sizes but they're usually a few centimetres in width. You sew them inbetween two layers of fabric at both sides, inbetween each side and the middle (front) and two in the middle of the back where it laces up.
It's the kind of thing that's actually easier than it sounds xD

Actually, you can easily wear a corset (so that it actually works nicely) all day if you lace it up right. Just make sure that the laces are tight around your waist, but looser around your bust and hips (this is so you can breathe, and you don't get a poof at the bottom). Basically lace it up so that it's tied at the center instead of the top or bottom. *had to wear corsets while working at the renn fest, and for a previous costume*
If you do make your own corset, use fabric that isn't slippery. The first time I made a corset would have been so much better if the fabric didn't feel the need to slide around everywhere.

I think that for now I'll borrow my friend's mp3 player for Minato. We're wearing the costumes for a Halloween party before we figure out which convention to bring them to, so I have time to make my own after the party.

As for the tights, would it looks weird if I attached thigh high stockings to sheer pantyhose? I'm not so much worried about showing skin, but I am worried about keeping the thigh highs up. I can just see myself pulling them up all day, and that sounds annoying.

That's a relief...I really want if someone did decided to poke me (lawl...for experimentation..XD), then they would feel the hard corset instead of my flesh...to make it more realistic...and plus...my stomach isn't as flat as I would like it so I need something to suck it all it. XD.

I was just waiting for a cameo appearance of Mitsuru...she could have made a good detective along side Akihiko! xD

Though, I am a believe in the Inui/ Ken theory, so that is at least two P3 characters. :D
Oh, I almost forgot! And Junpei! I'm not for sure, but I remember in one episode where it should a group of people, in one quick scene you could see a younger adult that wore exactly what Junpei wore during the winter off days...I just concluded it was a short appearance of older Junpei.

I always had thought the could have done so much more with Trinity Soul, but it was interesting to watch (though at times it did drag out quite a bit.)
