I was wondering how to get these two looks, the lips on this picture:

And the eyes on this picture:

Yes yes yes it's Hilary Duff >.>
I love her makeup though, so pretty ^___^

For the lips I'd suggest covering your lips with concealer or foundation (you should of course use foundation all over your face to get that smooth look), then applying a very pale lipliner and lip gloss.

For the eyes it looks like they did a very thin line of eyeliner all around the eye, then smudged a bit of dark eyeshadow above and below. A small eyeshadow brush will help with this.

Thank you very much. ^____^

I think she's wearing pink eyeshadow above the lashline too. I could be wrong though.

Really? I think it looks like a light brown, like a mocha or something. Anyways, I tried the lip thing, it looked wonderful. I love it ^___^

Oh the foundation over lips really works.. I do this for my boy costumes.. I use chapstick first.. then put on foundation over my lips. Also, i was lucky to find clinique's "Perfect Beige" lipstick in my mom's basket.. but this is for non-glossy look..

also, I used to use the side of my eyeshadow brush-thing to get a thin line of color under..

Perfect beige? Is this like a foundation-ish colour?

Sorry, but I guess Hilary Duff had to spark this question: Are nude lips and dark eyeliner "in" now?

08-24-2004, 01:07 PM
Well it's a rehashing of the 60's 'mod' look....everything comes back eventually. But I can't keep track of what's '"in"...it changes from week to week. Or according to the fashion magazines, 15 different looks are "in". Whatever.

I don't think it's really in cause I haven't seen many people wearing it, but I just think it looks nice and is different ^___^;;

Anyways, do you think I should buy some black eyeshadow or dark charcoal grey?

gray is a lot less harsh, but i depends on your look you are trying to get, and your skin/eye/hair color. if you have light skin and hair and eyes, and you wish for a softer look, go for the grey. but if you have darker skin/eyes/hair, then black is fine. or it might even look cool with light complexions, a bit more hardcore hillary duff, huh? (sorry, i could not resist trying to fit 'hardcore' and 'hillary duff' into the same sentence.)

Wait a tick..

First we have to know about her skin tone, then we can discuss color.
If you are ivory-fair skin I would suggest using a shimmery black eyeshadow, to do the effect like they did on Hillary, first pencil in underneath your eye softy using blackest black eyeliner. After that, smudge it just a little bit- remember to only use a little bit. After that, use a shimmery black shadow to finish the smokey eye effect. If you want to add mascara to your lower lashes it will make your eyes look bolder, you can also use a metallic eyeliner (black or gray) for the lower lid.

For the lips, just use a small spot of concealer and then blend, it will DRY your lips harshly. Use a chapstick before the concealer. If you have beige lipstick it would be better and last longer. After that just add lipgloss. The less you use on the lips the better the effect.

Yeah, I have very light coloured skin. x.o

the problem with beige lips is that it makes you look a bit odd.

Anyways, to throw my few cents in: buy a white eyeliner pencil. It will lighten the outlines of your lips. To make them blend into your skin... this is a very heavy makeup look in my experiece, so does anyone have any blurbs about how much makeup to use on the rest of the face whilst using the "nude lips"?
