Place: Duke Gardens (http://www.hr.duke.edu/dukegardens/dukegardens.html) in Durham, NC Directions (http://www.hr.duke.edu/dukegardens/directions.htm) | Parking (http://www.hr.duke.edu/dukegardens/parking_info.htm)
Time: 11AM - 4PM, Sept. 18th 2004

If you can't make it this far east, or whatever direction to the gathering due to distance, but with nothing else to do wouldn't mind hanging out with your CCR friends in Greensboro who are having the same problem.. send Kilayi_S74r a message, since I think her and a few others are going to do something else in that area.

Just as a note of coincidence, my family has two memorials in Duke Gardens. I haven't seen them in a while. I might as well get out to see them while I'm there.

I've been looking at the weather forcast for this weekend and it looks like we're gonna get smacked by Ivan. >_< (Rain..the issue for the -2nd- time xD)

So when Saturday morning comes and if the weather is BAD...,or we get to the gardens and its......BAD,should we just not come at all or arrange to meet somewhere like the...I think its called the 'center garden' -the place right next to the entrance (that's the only 'sheltered' area I remember :d). I figured its better to throw that out there now..instead of a few people showing up and figuring out later that most of the people couldn't/didn't come because of the thunderstorms ^_^;;

Just a thought!

theres 2 remaining chunks of the storm, streched vertically along the east coast from NC several states north. In the top left we have big wide chunk of light but constant rain, lets call it Chunk A. In the bottom right, we have little chunk(s) (previously little chunks, now they've kinda lined up into a big line (shows they are loosing rotation and organization from the rest of the storm), this is important so we'll call it Chunk B.

Now Chunk B is passing through today (Friday afternoon) and is already through the area for most of us, if you are lucky like me, you came close to a tornado but had no damage. It is the severe and thus small part of the storm, and is moving North East, and has no chance for returning saturday. It wasnt as constant, but yucky when it was near, as apparently spawned tornados, producing 79MPH wind gusts at RDU airport (where planes were overturned, bus bench shelters had all the glass blown out, and rooves were removed from their roof-having-things).

Now this is where it all comes together, see, normally Chunk A, big wad of non-severe but rainy clouds on the map, would normally not be a problem, as they are far north of us. And they dont tend to move south from there. Yet the (fading) rotation of Ivan is expected (by professional forecasters) to of course come south and sometime (nobody knows) POSSIBLY come into NC.
Although they do not know, and will not say, when, why. (actually they did explain why, and that was what I was just explaining, pay attention), or how much of it will come how far south.
That is why they wont say, because they do not know, this was their assumption. Which is now clouded with doubt, because as the Chunk A moved across central north carolina, it lost its organization much faster than they expected it to. (It was still dangerous, but this really means its loss of rotation.) And since this was all one big storm, its very likely that the other Chunk will settle and is becoming less organized. Thus making the TV Weatherpeoples doubtful. And so hopefully it not rotate down south to NC, and kinda stablize and go more East (not south east).

and that is the up-to-date report for now. see you all tommarow :D
(you might want to bring an unbrella incase it (weather) decides to rain)

So..Where exactely should we go if it's pouring rain? I've never been to this place before so I have no idea where anything is. :thumbsup:

And if we are late, how do we find everyone?

Alright, if you're late, do you have a cellphone so you could call up one of us?
..and when you come in, on the right right near the parking theres a building, I figure thats where everyone will gather first if its pouring rain.
