:jjacks: YES, YES, YES my friend in Student Council told me that our idea for a cosplay theme for our high schoolís homecoming this year had been approve. WOPPY cosplay at school.

However the committee is struggling with a title for the theme. Unfortunately my school is a Caucasian base, plague with close-minded people. Therefore anime is not very well known, nevertheless the concept of cosplay. The rest of minority is busy partying and getting high. (I hope this doesnít offend anyone, Iím exaggerating if you canít tell) :untrust:

Even though the Student Council agrees on the idea of dressing up in costume as an anime character or game character, it will also include cartoons and films character. I have no problemwith this what so ever , except for the choice of the title; the title for the event will be called ĎLights, Camera, Actioní. When my friend told me this I was like HELL NO they completely and deliberately accentuate on the concept of filmís costume. So I need your help in thinking of a title that is both witty, catchy, creative and vague enough to be understandable (remember no one knows what cosplay means) and not distinct enough to highlight only one form of costumes.

So please help me. Cosplay at school, cosplay at school, how cool this that.

That is SO cool! :D
But "Lights, Camera, Action" is pretty lame...

You could always call it PLAY in Your COStume Day! (harhar) I'm so awful at coming up with titles. XD;;

The Naughty Tentacles in Squiddy's Basement <bonus if that gets approved ;) >
Big Eyes, Small Dancefloor
Saturday Morning Fever

*shrug*
Good luck with the theme :)

hummmm contemplating really hard.

:japan: Thank you for all the title suggestion they're all lovely and I really appreciate it, but I havn't quite found what I'm looking for.

Although I am very tempted to go with Tenticle_Guy: The Naughty Tentacles in Squiddy's Basement <bonus if that gets approved > Just to see the Student Council reaction, but then again I chould also ruin the whole event if I suggest somthing so crude.

Emiko: What do you mean by costume capers? I'm sorry I'm really slow but my mom tells me I'm special. Hehe. :drunk:

From rhymezone.com

caper
noun: gay or light-hearted recreational activity for diversion or amusement
noun: a ludicrous or grotesque act done for fun and amusement

I know that this doesn't imply anime (i think), but how about "Waltz on the Moon", it's the title from one of the songs from FF8, it was where Squall and Rinoa dance together. Gamers, might get that.

"Evangelion", maybe. Thats all I can come up with.

After reading the thread for like the 5th time and saying 'oh that'll be a good title for a dance' did it occur to me that some of you may have misunderstood what's Homecoming. :drunk:

Homecoming is a club promotional festival/fair. This is when the entire school club has a booth to sell food or create activities. It gives the student body knowledge of what clubs are out there and also a way for the clubs to bank in some money for the rest of the school year; and each year there is always a different theme the fair partakes.

All the themes have been lame until now. So all I need is a great title, sorry if you were confuse. ( I thought all high school had homecoming, right?)

SOunds like my high school^^ we do have a lot of people from different countries, but the majority has no idea about anime. If there was a dance at my school, which I seriously doubt there ever will be because chances are, only around 7 people will show (my 4 friends inculding me, and maybe some others along with people that think they like anime but are obsessed with everything shown on tv and don't save the money or take the time to buy their own dvds or mangas or borrow them from libraries.) I wish you good luck^_^

Hmm. . midnight masquarade. . I like the idea of masquarade in it lol^^
Wishful thinking,
Something with starlight in it (i like pretty words^^)
I'm bad with these things when I'm not inspired lol.

That's so awesome. We just got the school to approve an anime club, but so far all we've done is watch Princess Mononoke, but never talked about anything important. We even got the best English teacher in the world to be our advisour (he also has a projecter in his room, so it's awesome watching DVDs there.)

But yeah, amazing how you can trick schools into these things. My town is basically Caucasian but we have about 30 members in anime club and counting. But my school is pretty cool, my brother has a shirt from one of the school plays that says "We do it with the lights on..."

I don't think we have a homecoming, I'm not sure. Seniors have a halloween dance where they can dress up as anything (can't wait till then, we'll freak out everyone.) You can also wear costumes on halloween in our school (but I'm missing halloween this year, gonna be in Japan.)

Anyway, a good title, let's see...
-Yay! Anime!
-Costume time
-Get off your lazy @$$ and make a costume!
-Be someone cool
-You know you want to...
-80 Years Of Taking People Out Into The Woods And Doing Things With Them (I found that on a T-shirt today for UMass Ameherst...though it has nothing to do with this...)
Just some really bad ideas...I'm not good with titles...it would be so great to get anything naughty sounding though...I'd go even if they wouldn't let me in if it was called The Naughty Tentacles in Squiddy's Basement

rei_hino: I think the best thing about my school is our Anime Club, and of cource this year cosplay theme.

moonrabitt: Um do you live in Southern California? I go to Long Beach Wilson Classical High School. It's not really an anime theme, but your'e welcome to hang out at our Anime Club booth. HEHE. :toothy:

*Shifty_eyes*: My school has had an Anime Club for five years now. I am currently vice-president of my anime club. My first mission is to get our club sweater that says 'don't question anime', you know how there are so many bazzar and eccentric stuff in anime. :D With me as VP this year we're gonna be doing some wicked and twisted stuff in the club. OOH your'e going to Japan, ooh tell me more I want to know how, when, oh you lucky bastard.

Thank you so much for the creative suggestion, I can't come up with anything due to my *special* nature. :spinner:

QUOTE]

When: October 22-Nov. 1
How: Because my mom is an artist and is part of a gallery in NYC and they have Japan show every couple of years and my mom was chosen this year. So, like she normally does, she decided to go to the art show and there was no possible way I couldn't go if she did and she knew that.

*Shifty_eyes*: You must be excited to go to Japan, I wish I chould go to Japan as an exchange student for a year, I'd me so happy.

Oh I am. In fact, 1 month from today and I'll be on the plane heading to Japan (18 hour flight with one bad small meal...I'm gonna die before I get there...) But then I get to go to noodle bars cause my mom is cheap and won't buy expense food...we're gonna live on noodle bars...Yeah, I'm so happy!!

Anyway, I wish we didn't have the principal we have, I wish Mr. Shea (he's an english teacher and he runs the anime club) was principal, he was up for it. He would definatly allow us to cosplay. Our last principal (he left about a year before I came) was found in a rest stop with a bunch of gay men so...yeah...he then quit...we have messed up teachers here...

Thank you everyone, but it seems I cannot change the title, they say its too late blah blah blah.

Well now the students thinks you can only come in Movies' costume and the whole idea of cosplay has been neglected. Oh well but everyone in my anime club will be cosplaying and that's all that matters. :jjacks:
