There was a GREAT rave last year. It got hot and stinky, but hey, it brings lots of memories, and a chance to make new friends. A friend of mine is going, and he is a L337 glowstringer (wow, think about it...GLOWSTRINGING BAN from GetBackers!!!). My other friend is O.K. at sticking. Anyone wanna try glowsticking with us? I'm trying to make a HUGE circle at the dance. Anyone interested? I had a pretty big topic on it last year, if you MAY remember....

BTW, I know these are last minute posts, hopefully some people will get to it before they head out

P.S. GET THERE SAFELY EVERYONE! I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE ONE OF YOU

Are you talking about glowstick spinning? Similar to fire spinning, but with glow sticks? Yeah, all I have is some practice poi for learning how to fire spin. :P

I'd like to try! But I'll probably end up accidently hitting people with them...>_<

Yeah, the rave was pretty good. Overall, it was a lot better then last years. I was the Sasuke in the circle. I got in a couple of times...and spending $7 on glowsticks is pretty bad...They overpriced the glowsticks. If you're looking for CHEAP glowsticks, go to extremeglow.com

The rave was pretty good, but I wish there was some more variety in music. Just listening to techno/eurobeat/happy hardcore will get old after a bit. Oh yeah, less crappy game show remixes with sound clips of Wanda Sykes, please.

The circles were nice, though they didn't last nearly as long as desired. I dunno, I guess I got a bit spoiled by Otakon. haha

The guys who distributed the 'sticks were really nice. It was fun talking to them in the Dealer's Room and while taking breaks during the rave.

P.S.- I was the L'arc SMILE cosplayer with the neon-green 'sticks and the "X_X" box in the circles.

We always appreciate input for our dances, and i'll take any feedback
into consideration for our next dance. For the most part, AnimeUSA's
dance has been a con where I kinda get my collection rinsed out. I
go for some cheesy stuff, but sprinkle a lil bit of goodness in there.
Most of the house I played, with the exception of about four songs,
were either from a japanese label or remixed by a japanese producer.
Not that this totally justifies playing house all the time, but it is a little
more effort than the way some cons will just default to a dj spinning
whatever random edm, and that dj not having any interest in anime,
video games, or japanese music at all.
As to what I played, yeah there was a price is right remix in there : ),
but it was seperate from the Wanda Sykes track, which is a Ichi
Soba remix. Didn't play any techno, but Eurobeat and Happy
Hardcore are bound to show up, even if just for the sake of having
a bpm change. Though, in the hardcore range (170+ we only had two
songs).
I'll keep this all in mind as we get ready for Neko. I'll be spinning
on Friday night with Greg Ayres and Rob Lantz. Neko's saturday night they
have a bunch of djs spinning non-anime edm music, but they are good
djs, so they'll probably have no problem moving some people.
I ramble, anyway, if ya got requests, be sure to let me know : ). -&rew

I for one enjoyed the rave. I thought it was uber fun. I was all up on the dance floor ^_^

Although the Wanda Sykes bit was kinda weird, I though The Price Was Right bit was original and interesting to dance to. Although more Japanese music will please the crowds more, I enjoyed it just as is.

I think I was hogging up all the black light though ^_^ Can't help it if my entire outfit responded to it well.

However, there did come one big "bad" from the rave. My body is soooo sore from all the dancing. I danced from start to finish and now I can barely move. That's what I get for being a "dancing fiend" =)

Well I injoyed the Rave but I must say that ya more japanese music would be good thats the only thing I didn't really like. But by the time I had to leave any way lol to much stuff in one day and no food so ya I was a bit dizzy. but the rave rocked I havn't danced like that in a long time.

Thanx for the feedback. Always awesome to see someone dancing
a ton. I think you pretty much had that chunk of floor for
the dance. Which I honestly prefer somebody to take up by dancing
and not standing around looking at a dance circle : ).
Yeah the Wanda Sykes bit got some mixed feedback from people, I
think its a hilarious track and a good mix, Soba throws that lil breaky
bit towards the end that really makes it funky.
I also played some Yoji Biomehanika, which is tougher trance, but
awesome production. I busted out a Robbie Riviera mix of a Pizzicato
Five track, some Rising Sun Dave Armstrong stuff, a lil bit of Daft Punk
stuff from Interstella, a really rare tetris mix and a lil bit of Strongbad.
We had like 8 requests for Sandstorm, which although a lil dated now,
still does fill a floor for whatever reason. Rob brought along the SSX3
soundtrack, which we used a bit from. I filled a random request for
Basement Jaxx and a few other Eurobeat requests.
I have sometimes weird opinions about Eurobeat, but when somebody
asks for it, they'll usually dance their arse off to it. That and Rob brought the
nicer mix of "One night in Arabia" that they actually use in Initial D.
I pitched the heck out of "stomp to my beat",so it was a lil more hyper
than usual.
Anyway, I could use some reccomendations people!
If you disliked the dance, tell me a few songs you would've played and
i'll keep that in mind for the next buncha cons I do. I always love hear-
ing new music! : ) -&rew

It's complete tradition for Maester Seymour and i to go to the rave at every con, i think we'd die without it XD it would have been nice to have more anime/gaming mixes, too much American stuff

The circle rocked (woo! Seymour and i were the Evangelion ravers XD) Act1 of Konoha, you rocked, i saw you a bunch, and omg, that Vash raver was great! <3

Honestly, the one thing that kinda irks me is that I for the most part
try to get house music off of japanese labels, from japanese artists or
bands. I fielded a complaint on Sunday while spinning in artist alley, about
the dance. Now, this isn't to say that everybody is the same way, but does
represent a deal of comments I get:

Complaintee: You didn't play any japanese music last night.
Me: Actually, I played a fair deal, I can show you actually.
Complaintee: I didn't hear any japanese at all, how can you
say you played any?
Me: Really, there is a chunk of house/edm music in Japan that
doesn't even have Japanese in it, but that doesn't make it any
less Japanese.

So yeah that's the jist of it. I honestly am not a bad dude, I spend
whatever time I can scoping out and answering feedback on my
dances and trying to put an effort into getting japanese music, video
game remixes and geeky stuff.
I love hearing back from people on how to make these dances better,
I don't entirely agree with the Otakon route of just getting edm djs. I
equally am interested in edm, but the only time I can play j-pop, japan-
ese house, anime music, eurobeat, video game stuff, and the geeky
fun stuff is at anime cons.
Anywho not to ramble, but if anybody is heading out to Neko i'll
be spinning on friday, be sure to give me some good reccomendations! : )

XD And then you were just awesome too, lol, but making a fool out of yourself? THAT i missed (lol, though i'm sure it wasn't as foolish as i was just jumping around at one point since i had somuch energy stored up inside XD )

If you are in the picture with me as my avatar that would be awesome. The picture is of me and the DJ. I was "very out of it" during the dance for reasons I can't explain but it was ok. I didn't like the size of the room at all and the circle was in a bad spot. The raves are only fun for me when there are more people around my age :( but anyway all was well.
