Alright, I don't know how many of you wonderful people read web comics, but has anyone ever concidered cosplaying or crossplaying as a web comic character (aside from MegaTokyo) despite the fact that they may not be recognised?

11-09-2004, 03:55 PM
I've wanted to cosplay a few. Branwen from S*P, Joyce from It's Walky (ended), another one that I decided against... there's probably more but I can't remember...

Cool, there's quite a few I've been wanting to cosplay from, but don't have any concrete plans at the moment. If I had to chhose though, any character from the web comic Sluggy Freelance, Errant Story, or Sinfest.

my friend cosplayed cardboard tube samurai from Penny-Arcade last year and it came out pretty damn cool.

Might team up this year and go as regular Gabe and Tycho in their classic attire almost like a casual wear day at a con rather than sweating through a deluxe costume

yay web comic cosplay!

nay megatokyo!

11-09-2004, 05:48 PM
I've been on-again off-again considering dressing as PeeJee from S*P for quite a while, now.

I'm going to sound like such a noob asking this, but what is this S*P web comic you all seem to like so much? I've never heard of it before...

11-09-2004, 07:19 PM
My friend and I reallly want to cosplay Foamy the squirl Germaine whwheh some day

11-09-2004, 07:45 PM
Oooh! You should totally do PeeJee, Ainslye!

Sluggy kind of jumped the shark recently, though. I'm still stuck at Gofotron. Who were you thinking of cosplaying? My boyfriend kind of accidentally cosplays Riff a lot. I just want the laser cannon for my car. Yes, I need it. Have you tried driving through downtown Tampa during rush hour? Geez. 0.o;
I'd like to see somebody do Aylee cosplay...

Gomen nasai, S*P is Something Positive: http://www.somethingpositive.net

Spoiler: I don't know if it'd be a good idea for me to cosplay Branwen, though. I was kind of hoping she'd actually stick around. I guess he figured Davan's life was getting too nice so he had to mess with it some more.

You know what's sick, though? My brother makes a perfect Mike, physically. Heh. I'll just spring the idea on him one day and not tell him anything about the character. That would be so evil, though.

I've wanted to do Itality Ishida from The Lounge for quite a while.....mmm, yummy Italy! All I need is someone to be Aya!

I have a Dan (turned into a girl for reasons that STILL make no real sense) costume from the comic Life of Riley - which the entire site is temporarily out of commission unfortunately. It was just a fun one to do, there are two Dan's in a "Death Death Revolution" tourney and I just had to cosplay it, I might retake some pics of me in it and post them laters. I'd loooooooooove to do some Megatokyo cosplay. Erika would rock, I'm very much the Amazon like her, heh.

11-09-2004, 09:00 PM
Megatokyo is nice and all, but it's a bit overdone.

Thanks for the S*P link, i'll be sure to check it out. Tia--I wish I had a boyfriend that "accidentally" cosplayed as Riff. Personally I've wanted to do his vampire hunting cosplay, with the "Vampire Kicker 3000," just because I've wanted to attempt a relitively complicated prop for a costume. Either that or one of the girls...Zoe if I could fit all my hair into a wig that small.

11-10-2004, 05:45 PM
You're welcome. Yeah, I thought it might be Zoe. I mean, she'd be the obvious one people would want to do. I've been told that I should cosplay the gothic blonde one (I can never remember her name), but I was just never into sluggy enough to cosplay from it. I kinda wanted to cosplay the redheaded vampire, but I ran out of time this Halloween, and I already know that I'm doing American Mcgee's Alice next year. I think you could fit hair under a wig like that. I've seen people with tons of hair do it before. You just have to use the twisting method on wet hair.

11-10-2004, 06:02 PM
Mmmm Tia, we should both go on with the S*P-ness.

In fact, my "con purse" is a choochoo bear.. stick your wallet and phone down his throat and he keeps it safe, and when you need it back, he regurgitates it for you. And DizzyLizzy made me a ChooChoo hat ^_^

Perhaps for Katsucon, PeeJee can be my "sunday" costume, since she's normal clothes just about anyway.

11-10-2004, 06:05 PM
Perhaps. It'd have to be for if I ever had the chance to hit ComicCon San Diego. Which might actually happen in the not-so-distant future because of what I do (physicist). The choochoo bear purse is awesome ^_^ lol, my con purse is just this light blue one I bought from Wal Mart and then added a strap to. I need a bigger one, though. It won't fit enough Jrock 0.o; I wanna see pictures if you do decide to cosplay her ^_^

11-10-2004, 06:11 PM
im doing germaine from foamy once the yuna's are done and im totally satisfied with each of them. why not? ^^ -Aseret Yuna

I cosplayed Eri-chan (http://www.bunnybeth.net/cosplay/costumes/erichan.html) from the webcomic Strangecandy: Okashina Okashi (http://www.strangecandy.net/) on Sunday of ACEN 04. I know at least 1 person recognized me. And, because it was so fun to carry a baby tentacle monster plushie around, I'm planning on wearing another outfit (http://www.bunnybeth.net/cosplay/costumes/eri_smily.html) of Eri-chan on Sunday of Ohayocon 05. :p

yay web comic cosplay!

nay megatokyo!

Even though you won't get recognized, I think it would be fun to go around in an outfit you'd love and people would just be like ":O whazat?"

Personally I'd love to go as black or red mage from 8-bit Theater XD Weee~

reannaremick: We're you'd get those pics of Cthulhu plushies!??!? Cause I want one (or two, or three XD) so bad now X3!

I got mine at a local comic shoppe, I have the regular Cthulhu, Christmas Cthulhu, and Cthulhu Slippers I'm a total Cthulhu maniac, lol. I'm actually planning a special Cthulhu outfit for Dragon Con - I'll PM you once I have more done - if you're into Cthulhu you'll love my idea.

Anywho you can get them on the web here: http://www.toyvault.com/cthulhu/plush_cthulhu.html but I'd suggest looking at cons or local comic places - there are MORE than just those few listed on there.

i wouldnt mind seeing some stubble or rpgworld cospaly.
maybe some dominic-deegan too. it would be so cool to see somebody like the infernomancer walking around.

11-15-2004, 12:08 PM
I think they had summer fun Cthulhu, too. Oooh yay for dominic deegan cosplay ^_^ I had forgotten to link there on my site. Must update that. And get caught up on it too. If you guys want to see a few other good webcomics I have some links there. Not too many, but they're all good.

Dominic Deegan Rocks my socks off! =D I was thinking of going as the Infernomancer or maybe Luna in the near future. Other comic costumes I'd like to do: Sally or Chloe from Chugworth Academy, Laika from Tsunami Channel, almost anyone from Arcana, Ferrel from Shadow Side Show, Faustus or Void from Fallen... there are many more. ^^

11-16-2004, 09:11 PM
Ah. You'd have to fight my boyfriend over Faustus. He was quite rabid about wanting to cosplay him....

11-16-2004, 09:14 PM
Ah. You'd have to fight my boyfriend over Faustus. He was quite rabid about wanting to cosplay him....

so if he gets to be Faustus, I can still be Void and nag him till kingdom come? >D heheh, just kidding. Hooray for Fallen cosplayers! <3

11-16-2004, 09:37 PM
Ooooooh Fallen cosplayers, I'd probably have to follow anyone who did Fautus around going "lemme touch the tattoos pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease" Hehe. Now if only it would update ;_;

11-16-2004, 10:06 PM
Lol. He might be scared of the fangirls. It's pretty bad when you get glomped more times than asked for pictures. There is way too much Alucard lust in the world. 0.o;

11-17-2004, 01:09 AM
I've cosplayed as Lycidia from Okashina Okashi (http://www.strangecandy.net/) in 2 different outfits with my daughter as Petra -- and we WERE recognized, both at Fanime and AX. ^__^

11-17-2004, 01:25 AM
Ahhh, KeenShoujo, how you take all my spare time away. I'm addicted to Femme Fatale. People seem to think that I should cosplay India but they are wrong. Dead wrong. I could never pull her off sadly.

EDIT: Hey, do you guys think this costume would be recognizable?
I just got into this strip, and she is so much like me. It's a pleated skirt, too. *loves pleated skirts* I don't know what I could wear it to around christmas, though. I guess I'd have to end up going to Otakucon. But I have mixed feelings about it. Oh well.

11-17-2004, 11:42 PM
One of these days I need to cosplay pantsman from www.vgcats.com It would be a riot.

12-30-2004, 12:09 PM
I did Seraphim from MT for Ota 2002, and stalked Fred Gallagher around the con...^^;; Occasionally I wander around as Helen from Mac Hall for no reason at all. Ah, webcomic cosplay!

01-02-2005, 12:42 AM
anybody ever thought of doing "Pibgorn"? Oh, never heard of it?! Well, check it out. http://www.comics.com/comics/pibgorn/index.html

Personally, not much for fairys and succubusess, but this comic has me hooked like crazy. I think some of you young ladies out there could pull off Pibgorn or atleast Drusilla. Take a look and tell me what you think.

01-02-2005, 12:43 AM
Oh as a side note. Foamy is your lord and master! All shall join the "Card" Cult of parrish!!!........okay I'm done :)

01-02-2005, 01:06 AM
That comic looks interesting. I'll have to put it on the list to read.

01-02-2005, 11:38 AM
I just got into S*P...it's quite possibly one of the funniest things I've ever read. Anyone ever done Aubrey as Death?

01-02-2005, 03:08 PM
Nobody's done Aubrey, yet. I used to know a person who was a dead-on perfect Aubrey, but I haven't seen her for like a year. =/ I say go for it! It's always cool to see S*P cosplayers. Except for that one creepy guy who always walks around in Davan's shirt and seems to think he's him.....

01-02-2005, 08:13 PM
Yay! I plan on doing Aubrey for Otakon...see attached pic...It's the picture on the bottom. I saw the costume and fell in love with it. S*P rocks!

01-02-2005, 08:47 PM
Ooh, that's freaky. Cosplaying a character cosplaying another character. I may just have to do Branwen then. I think I can only make it for saturday, though. =/ It'd be cool to have a whole group. Wait a minute. Is that Aubrey or PeeJee? I always get the two of them confused... 0.o;;

01-02-2005, 10:38 PM
It's Aubrey. Peejee's the one who's constantly dyeing her hair different colors. You should definitely do Branwen! We could have a Something Positive group...and yeah, now that i think about it...it is kinda a creepy concept...

01-02-2005, 10:45 PM
I have the hardest time telling them apart. I can usually remember which one's PeeJee if I can remember what she's dyed her hair like recently. I just forgot. I should have remembered, though, since it's magenta. We might be able to get a group together. My boyfriend's a Davan, but like I said, I'm not sure if he's going to Otakon this year. We should find an Aubrey... (dammit I meant PeeJee. I'm so bad with keeping those two girls straight 0.o)

01-02-2005, 11:43 PM
Indeed. My friend is willing to go as Davan but he needs to get some cheap glasses to do so. And we have a Kim.
