MegaCon
Orlando, FL
Feb 25-27

Cosplay.com Photoshoot
when: Saturday, February 26th @ approximately 10am est
where: Main floor entrance lobby off to the side(so we don't interfere with traffic)and then move to one of the more open areas of the con after about 15 minutes.
-----------
My only out of state con. I will be getting a room at the nearest & cheapest Marriot property nearby (I think its the Hampton Inn). More than willing to share the room.

And if anyone is driving...I'd love it if you were able to take my prop guns down (not too keen on flying with them on me, even if in checked baggage). If not, no worries. I'll probably be going as Bryan Fury instead of re's Carlos.

Though if anyone driving is leaving thur night or really early Friday, I wouldn't mind roadtripping it, though I'd probably have to fly back to get back in time for work.

Also, since I'll be one of the GM's for the Paranoia larp, there's a good chance I'll be getting a free Sat pass again. I ussually sell it off, but if anyone wants it their welcome to it.

I'll be there. We're having a cosplay.com meetup on saturday (at least that's when I think it was).

Just hoping it doesn't completely conflict with the Gming I'm going to have to do. Paranoia is like 3-4 hours. Great fun though, the whole object is to roam the con in scavenger hunt style or to mess with people not participating in the game.

I think it was for noon. But I'm not entirely sure. You can check on the other megacon thread. I can't remember where it was, though. You could find it by doing a search of the forums.

Is anyone in the ATL area/in PSCS planning on driving down? I know Techie brought it up before, but I just recently found out I can get in the con/bunk with a friend who lives down there free, so my only trouble is GETTING there. I am wayyyyyy too broke to fly, and my car won't make the trip and live. I'd be willing to chip in gas money and I can pack light, I'll even provide some travel snacks or whatever's necessary. I'd just love to go, and I was almost 100% sure I couldn't go until now.

My mom's going with my brother and I. We're all going to drive down there Thurs. night. BTW - would anyone wanna share a room, or do any of you already have one?

I'll getting a room at the Hampton in (10-15 min walk to the con). The room is guarenteed thank's to my business traveling bro (heheh with his status we can even override people out if it gets totally booked). Ya'll welcome to share.

I still have yet to book my hotel room. I'm kinda bad about waiting until the last minute. I'll check around for some of the cheap hotels. I remember parking was an issue, from last year, although we only went for one day. Is it any better if you arrive very early and don't leave often? I'm one of those people who just camp at the con; I don't really leave unless it's absolutely necessary, if possible. I have one question, though: Is the convention's attitude similar to other convention centers regarding food? Because then I will bring less with me, I guess.

I have to worry about JACON more for the moment, though. I need to make sure I'm in the base hotel. I have to hurry up and book my room soon....

I know the Hampton Inn is the cheapest Marriot Property nearby, but there's plenty of motel 6ish hotels. Not sure what your meaning is about the food.

There's a food court in the convention center. I've brought outside food in with no hassles. The center is located on International drive with lots of resturants, a Wal-Greens, and there's a mall nearby too.

TechieCL - we'll share the room with ya ^_^ if you don't mind of course. There should only be about 3-4 of us ^^;; About how much per person would that be?

I was mainly wondering about their policy about outside food. I dislike leaving a convention once I get there. I will check out the Hampton. Thanks.

I don't remember off hand how much it cost me when I last stayed there. Last year I was at the Embassy Suites (grrrr...damn fascists). Its definately a lot cheaper than an embassy suites. I'll check the price tonight.

Do you guys have an ETA for Orlando? I probably won't be able to get their and check in till 'bout 10am.

I'm not sure when we're going to get there, but we should be there way after 10AM. We're probably going to start to head out there at about noon and its a seven hour drive. =^.^=

Okay, I went ahead and reserved a room at the Marriot Courtyard. Doesn't cost a thing to reserve and cancel...

Marriot Courtyard: International Drive/ Convention Center (http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/MCOOI)

0.9 Miles from the con.

$149.00 / night + taxes. = approx $30/night/person for 5 peeps

2 Queen Size beds, with possible sofa bed (or rollaway bed).

Free high speed internet access w/ 3 ports

& possibility of free upgrade to a suite

awesome! there's gonna be 4 people going with me to the con but only 2 of them are going to be in the hotel room with us. All i'm gonna do is leave my stuff in the room and stay at the con the entire time so.....you probably won't see me much ^^;;

possibility of an upgrade?......now that would rock! =^.^=

I just hope I have enough money, I should. But, after the Katsucon and the VIP and backstage passes. O.O;;; Thank goodness I get payed this week.

Well Megacon doesn't run 24/7. So Once most of the rpg games run out, not much to do but hang out. I think even the anime room closes 'round 2 or so.

Yeaup, if there's a suite available, we should automatically get a free upgrade. My bro has platinum status there and booked the room. Its good to have connections ^_^.

Hope you go. It'll be a blast...and its better to room with a crowd. Easier to defend against the horde of Cheerleaders (not to mention cheaper).

I like the fact that the internet is actually free at that hotel. Two cons in a row I have had to pay for internet ---.---

Some of the cheerleaders are actually pretty nice, though. A couple of them were even at the convention. Nothing like horse people... *bad memories*

Oh jesus, I forgot about the cheerleaders. Maybe I don't need a ride to MegaCon after all, LOL. Just kidding, a free badge, free place to stay, and a chance to lie at Peter Beagle's feet and purr, I'm so there. Assuming I get a ride that is.

Two pint sized cheerleaders are directly responsible for my worst experience at a con ever...I hates them so much...

Cheerleaders? At Megacon?? Okay, i'm official outta that loop. But, anyways TechieCL, if I cant afford the hotel room netiher will the other two people going with us. But, if you have to cancel you can stay with all of us for free if you need to. (My parents are going too and with the puppy face i've perfected over the years they said they'd pay for it) =^.^=

Cool, appreciate it.

About the cheerleaders. Same weekend every year I've gone, there's been this massive cheer leading competition at the same garguantuan convention center as Megacon. Thus, the hotels and surrounding areas are swarming with them.

Btw how good are you at painting? It seems my plan to give my prop guns to someone to transport to Megacon is not going to work out. So I'd be going as Bryan Fury. :bashful: So I may need a steady hand to possibly help me paint the neck tattoo.

Ayane_Eiketsu
01-06-2005, 04:39 PM
umm....that depends. I'd have to see a pic of the tatoo =^.^=;;

reannaremick
01-06-2005, 06:08 PM
If I can get a ride I can do the tat most likely. I did my friends Faith tattoo from Buffy for D*Con. If I can't get to Megacon, you're on your own, lol.

Speaking of, I'm planning on buying one eventually anyway, but I thought I'd toss out a line and see if anyone's got a longish white wig they don't want/need anymore? I'm trying to toss together an Amalthea from The Last Unicorn before Megacon since Peter Beagle is coming and I'd rather not have to buy a new wig so soon, my credit card is gonna melt any minute now. LOL.

What did your friend use? Tattoo paint? Body paint?

and the tattoo (http://img44.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img44&image=facetattoo2gt.jpg)

Though, now that I think about it, i'm going to see if a friend of mine can make a stencil for it to make the paint job easier.

reannaremick
01-06-2005, 09:59 PM
As stupid as it sounds, we used Sharpie. It actually looked really good, oddly enough. Eh.......a stencil would be good if it were on someplace flat like a belly or a back, but one for the neck probably won't work. It looks fairly simple, I'm pretty sure I can freehand it easily, just like I did hers.

That's the best pic I can find of hers.

Oh man! I haven't been on these forums for a while!! o_O! Anyways.. is the cosp.com photoshoot still set for 10am.. or is it noon? Either way my group is going to MegaCon and we're staying at the Quality Suites (1 suite for 100$ a night.. split by 6 people so far isn't bad! =D) .. and we're driving from Atlanta (obviously.. hehe). We're taking two cars I believe.. so if anyone still needs a ride, I can fit 1 or 2 more people into our cars. =) It's not a bad drive at all! I'm used to the 10 hr drive to Katsu/Ota... so this is a piece of cake! lol! Anyways, I hope to see you all there =D

*DESPERATELY NEEDS A RIDE* How much money would you want for gas/foodstuffs? I promise I can be reallllllly quiet if you....y'know....duct tape my mouth shut. lol. No seriously, though, if you've got room, obviously I gotta clear it with my folks but that's all I NEED to get to megacon, I already have a place to stay and a badge waiting for me. So please keep me posted! *runs off to start her Amalthea costume in a mad flurry to get it done* :p

Ayane, small change of plans. I got a better rate for a hotel room that's closer to the con. Total should come out to $79 / night + taxes. Then divided up by however many of us are there.

Suite: King Size Bed, Sofa Pull Out bed + Free breakfast. More details when I get them.

Just Friday & Sat night.

So what's the total room occupancy going to be? Me, you, your bro, his friend, and both your parents?

Also, will you be passing through Alpharetta or Atlanta Thursday night? I'm trying to find a way to get my prop firearms down. I'm not checking any luggage, and I'm pretty sure they won't allow them in carry-on luggage.

If not, no worries. I've got a back-up plan or two.

nope we're not going anywhere near there. Sorry -_-; And I highly doubt my parents are going. But, even if they do they're getting they're own room. You're so lucky you get to fly out. But, at least I don't have to drive to the Katsu ^_^;

No prob.

That's good, lot easier to room 4 people total rather than six...especially when the hotel thinks there's only 2.
