Wheee!!! Using the random cosplay section, YAY!!

Okay, there was all sorts of talk about photoshoots and stuff in the fall and before x-mas, and most of it has turned to dead threads.

Bowling's still a few day's off and I'm already thinking about the next one.

Does anyone else feel the need for some sort of gathering or trip that we can do in costume? P Mall turned into a lack of cosplay type random gathering, and from reading the skating thread, not many seem that thrilled at venturing out onto the ice in costume.

How about a photoshoot at one of the locations previous discussed (like the indoor garden thingie), or we go and take over P Mall and Dreamland in full (but comfortable and mobile) cosplay style?

Anyone else itching to break out a costume and go make asses of ourselves?

EDIT: Looks like lots of people are willing to go make asses of themselves w/ me. ^^;;

Here's the info:

REQUIREMENT: MUST dress up somehow. Doesn't have to be full costume (even though some of us will be), but no regular everyday street clothes. Even just a tail or a wig would do.

Date: Saturday February 26, 2005
Destination: Pacific Mall/Market Village
Map Location: Northeast corner of Steeles and Kennedy Road (Markham)

Pacific Mall meet up info:

Location: Orbit arcade entrance, 2nd floor of Pacific Mall (look for the freaks in costume)
Time: 12:00pm Noon (we will wait for a little bit until we think everyone has arrived)

TTC Station meet up info (2 meet ups):

Location: Kennedy Station, ground floor @ the 43 Kennedy bus platform (right beside the mini-convenience store)
Time: 11:00am

OR

Location: Finch Station, gound floor @ the 53 Steeles East bus platform
Time: 11:00am

NOTE: Show up EARLY. Once 11am has arrived, we will take the first bus from each location to Pacific Mall. If you're late, just ask the bus driver if the bus will go to Pacific Mall and meet up at the 12pm meet up location. The bus ride should take about 40-45 minutes to reach P Mall, no transfers required from either location.

Dinner

Dinner will be at Sci Fi, located at Duffrin and Steeles, a theme restaurant that's also a sci-fi store. Great burgers!

Chibik3r0 and SomethingCatchy are being nice enough to offer rides to upto 8-9 people beside themselves from P Mall to Sci Fi. Car ride arrangements will be determined at P Mall and who gets a ride will be determined by our nice drivers since it's their cars.

Everyone who wants to go to Sci Fi, but miss out on the car rides will need to take the bus. Long bus rides aren't too fun, but it's a good chance to scare more people with the strange costumes. ^^

XD Dreamland~!! It would be so funny to go there for a photoshoot... We can probably circle around the roulette game again! XD... P-mall's also right beside Market Square where Dreamland is so.. It's all good ^^

Hum........another gathering event? Sounds like a great plan, but it depends on what day its going be on and where its going to take place. This time I may be able to cosplay that is if I'm able to make on that day.

Pst! It's Market Village.

We can invade the arcade in P Mall again and get it on all sweaty and stinky with some cosplay DDR-ing and play some more Super Bishi Bashi Champ. XD

XD!! Bishi Bashi~!! TT.TT I stopped playing it because my friend kept on beating me in it... But!! I will be one of those people who will cosplay and be DDR-ing! XD... I'll also play Initial D... That is.. If I ever get around to it... <.<

I'm up for more hand numbing (literally) Bishi Bashi. It's one of the few games I've come across that doesn't give me anxiety attacks when I play cause it's so simple and the tasks are so pointless (re: bride throwing a pie into the pews).

I'd be up for trying another suck ass try at DDR as well, but there being so many people at the arcade all the time and me sucking so badly, I don't have guts to go play.

Yay! Come with, come with. Curry's actually part of the plaza section of Market Village.

I think we all felt naked going out w/o costumes or something. After all the talk about how inappropriate costumes would be for P Mall and stuff, people were regretting not cosplaying...except for Mekou who semi-cosplayed.

I should have an upgraded Neji done sometime soon. Or I could wear Chouji. ^_^ Rawr! :B

Forgive my ignorance .... Dreamland? o_O?

The kiddie arcade in Market Village.

It's like Chuck E Cheese, but with a more gambler feel and all Asian-ized. =D

Chef went nuts in there (as did Paul) and got cute little souvenirs for everyone that went with his winnings. ^^ Gotta love the monkeys.

We wanted to all pile into the little rides they had there for some photo ops, but there was a weight limit and stuff, so we couldn't...

I just came up with the idea randomly and wanted to drag a few people down with me while cosplaying in public.

Anyone have a timeline to suggest? I don't think anything's really going on at the end of January. University students are still just getting into the winter term and high school students should have just barely finished exams. Sound good maybe?

Still haven't been to PMall ... but I really don't think I'll be consistantly free until the week after March TAC, except for my reading week in February ... if someone sets a date I can *try* to work around that. :: crosses fingers ::

TT.TT I have exams on the first week of February... A day off on the Friday but I'm pretty sure some people have school.. <.<... How about maybe like.. Two weeks after the JCCC Dance on a Saturday?

HAHAHAH! aiyaaa.. I dont have my exams till may and june o^_^o yay for my school`s non-semestered-ness.. booyah

oooooh mebbe I actually might be able to make it to this one.. -0- depending on the date. heh I`ll be at pmall again next sat. to treat my sis for her bday (;

Amy the Yu
01-05-2005, 01:18 PM
Someone else suggest a date. I have no idea how school schedules work aside from my own schools. Just keep in mind that anything mid-late March (around the time for MacTAC) would be very troublesome for university students cause those who have school this term have finals throughout April.

Personally, I don't have too many weekends I can't take off except for the one immediately after the V-day JCCC dance cause that's beginning of my reading week and I'll be hiking down to Katsucon. My friend already paid for my reg and booked our hotel room, so I'm basically set to go.

Katsuyuki_Shiro

Oh, wait...I'm stupid. If anyone read my post b4 I actually paid attention to Katsuyuki's comment and changed it, ignore what I said before.

Weekend before MTAC is pretty good, but would anyone be willing to go somewhere that warrents spending money right before MTAC?

And weekend after V-dance. boo...you just HAD to pic the one weekend I'm out of the country didn't you?

What about weekend before V-dance?

Hey on oneas, I don't think there would be any problem, if you like to come, you can join us. That is of couse if its ok with Amy. I say we need more Bishi Bashi.

Mekou! I challenge you to a rematch! XD We need to work up out palm calouses so that we won't feel the pain anymore...ew...palm calouses? That sounds gross.

Anyone and everyone's welcome to join the group. It'll be even funner (not a word and I know it) with a big group.

We should all cosplay and see how big a gasping crowd we can gather around our strange costume-ness.

Sounds like a great plan that we should all cosplay for this gathering. Plus it would make it easier for everyone to meet. If I attend this gathering I'll cosplay my new Subaru outfit [From X] The different is that I found a white long coat which I'll be wearing at the bolwing event. The costume of Subaru that I made before was a grey long coat. Anywho, just let me know when this event is going to happen and I'll try to make it.

It would be funny for those who cosplay from the more "well-known" or "famous" anime (i.e. Naruto[ESPECIALLY], Fruits Basket, Dragon Ball, CardCaptor Sakura, etc.). I can imagine a lot of pointing, whispering between groups, gasping, and "OMG!! IT'S [insert name here] FROM [insert anime here]!!!!" XD!! This'll be so much fun~!!!

On the subject of youngens (wow I just randomly made myself feel old with that one), exactly who was the youngest last time anyway? And at what age? There was quite a bit of discrepancy on that one and if it was settled who it was, I'm still left in the dark...and quite clueless at that.

I was actually gonna suggest we go for well known characters and see how many times we can get other people to ask to take a picture of/with us while we're there. I doubt it would be too uncommon considering so many people have camera phones and stuff.

The bridge in P mall would also be great for posing for Naruto pictures.

And I would love to do it to see the frightened expression on the stingy lady who runs one of the bootleg anime merchandise centric stores.

I had no idea! I definitely need to come now. I also need to practice my DDR, since I've only played once before. ¨ ¨

My only issue is my costume. I've only got my Kikyo finished so far, and it isn't the most comfortable to wear (especially for DDR, I imagine). If this happens closer to March I'll probably have something new by then. :)

As for a meeting place... I think in front of Orbit again would be a good meeting place. Last time everyone managed to find us so easily and we weren't in costume. So it'll be even easier to find us if we are in costume. Not to mention that we'll also get a few stares while we wait.. <.<

I think V-dance is the friday, Feb 11, so we'd be talking about Saturday the 26th as the 2 week after for P Mall. Amy, I was going say, if you like why don't you cosplay as Seishiro from X. Its just a black long coat and it should keep you warm from the winter. That way I can go as Subaru if you like.

Haha!!! I would make people HATE Seishiro. I would look horrible as him. I actually wear a long black coat anyway, but it's not so much traditional trench coat style. As one of my friends calls it, it's more of a "Matrix Neo" coat.

I would be good personality wise though. I have a pretty violent personality and find it fun to watch people in pain...okay...that just makes me sound creepy...

I was actually planning to cosplay Arashi for Anime North 05, but I'd need sword to feel complete and that'll get so confiscated since she really only has the drawn form of her sword and that's pretty not allowed even without asking security. If I can get someone to cosplay Sorata with me (might drag AJ into it since we're manning the AA table together), I may do Arashi without the sword even...it would be more like wearing a version of one of the costumes I'll be selling. Free advertising! XD

A friend of mine let me borrow her Sango costume while she is away in Korea, so I was thinking of adjusting it a little so that I could use it. I'm considering wearing it as a backup if I don't think of something else to make by then, since it's comfy, warm, and I wouldn't need to wear a wig. XD

I probably won't do much (if any) shopping on this trip, but I'll play some arcade games and stuff. I have to save up enough money to make TAC/AN costumes.

Last time I spent a total of $10! On beef balls anf fish balls and bubble tea and tamago rolls! =D

So yes, it's possible to not buy anything.

...though we do know certain people who spent tens of dollars on arcade tokens in both orbit AND dreamland XD

I'm not too sure what I'd wear either... Either Ash or I'll make something. Heh, maybe I'll finally get to make Sasuke... but... I'm lazy...

Katsuyuki_Shiro
01-09-2005, 12:52 AM
The mall was probably the best place for a meeting spot. How about 12 in front of the arcade again? It'll be much easier to spot us since we'll all be in costume and at noon for lunch.. <_<... *Knows that breakfast skipping will happen*...

Amy the Yu
01-09-2005, 01:40 AM
Time and everything sounds good. I'll probably join in the breakfast skippage and end up showing up at P Mall really hungry.

WHO'S GOING??!! =D Do we at least have the people from the last trip and some more? This is gonna be so much fun!

Unless I make something spectacular before then (which even if I do, won't be for myself to wear), I think I'm gonna go ghetto again and do a cutsy Fruits Lolita. I just got this great baby blue and white dress I'm altering for it. It needs ribbons and taking in and some alterations, but it's so cute and I need a place to wear it to before con season hits and I'm gonna need to sell this on Ebay to raise money so I can afford all the cons I want to go to. XD

I know it's not gonna happen, but I hope it's gonna be reasonably warm outside when the time gets around. If we were cold outside when in normal clothing, we're going to FREEZE in costume.

Are there two arcades? (Orbit/Dreamland?) If so, which one are we meeting in front of? The only one I know of is on the second (?) floor of the mall, near the fancy bridge thing. You know, the place with all the...fancy decorations.

I'm definitely going, unless something comes up. It looks like the only thing that might interfere with me going is transportation. My car hasn't been terribly reliable recently, so I'm a little concerned about making it to toronto and back.

As for time, how about.....noon or 1 pm? I can try to wake up early for that. XD

Oh...and it should probably be mentioned (if it hasn't already) that weapons are a bad idea, no matter what they're made of, since even a plastic sword can look like a threat. It's just asking for trouble.

Costume required? Hmm...

I'm not 100% sure if I'll come this not, not because of the costume requirement, but the fact I'd be coming all the way back from Guelph just to go to a mall where I likely won't buy anything. Although seeing all you guys again would make it worthwhile *wipes tear* Umm, we'll see. If I end up going to the Valentines Dance and MacTac, that's going to be a lot of commuting back and forth an hour and a half each way. My poor car >_< I'll figure it out closer to the date.

Hikarilight - There's only 1 arcade in P Mall. Dreamland's in Market Village. Orbit is HUGE and you just can't miss it, but there's only one door right beside the escalators, so that's where we meet.

Chibik3ro - I made it so that costumes were required so that we don't end up with one or two people in costume and a whole pile of people who chickened out of wearing something last minute. Even something like a set of ears woudl work if you don't want to go for a full costume. Just no one's allowed to dress normally, unless they dress like a freak already. XD

You pull off a good Kiba. Why not do his kiddy version or something? It's rather casual and you don't have to bother with the fangs or claws or anything cause that's a bit much for going to P Mall unless you're THAT dedicated.

Hum, now that I think about it, I have two costume in mind that I like wear for this event. If I some how manage to find a way to make Yuto costume [from X] then I'll go with Yuto. Beside, Yuto only wears a white coat and red suit and pant. If not, I can wear my Lantis oufit [Rayearth OVA]. I'll wear everything except the cape and I won't bring the sword. But I guess will have to wait later on to see what happen.

Wouldn't taking a bus from Don Mills station from the end of the sheppard subway line be closer than from Finch station?

Well, for my end of things, I will say meeting up just inside the entrance of to Midland station. If you're taking TTC there, be sure to get a transfer when you get on the bus/subway/SRT as Midland requires a transfer to get onto the bus.

For people joining us from elsewhere, taking a GO train may be the way to go, as there's a direct line from Union station downtown to Milliken GO station right beside Pacific Mall.

Not really... You'd have to transfer from the Don Mills bus at Steeles to Steeles East going to Pacific Mall. From Finch it's only one, straight, bus ride. It's a little closer distance-wise, but in the end you'll still end up taking the same bus as the ones that the people who are going from Finch are. It's really up to the people who live closer to the Sheppard-Yonge line area. I personally think that it's worth the trip going to Sheppard station, to Finch, then taking the bus from there. That way I wouldn't have to stand outside waiting for a bus in my costume. ^^;;... I'd rather be inside the bus platform, in my costume.

How long are people going to be waiting to meet up outside the arcade? If we're meeting at noon, are we going to hang around there for 20 minutes or so while people arrive? I'd feel silly showing up 5 minutes late and everyone is already gone... ;_; (worried about traffic).

I think we'll wait for maybe.. 15-30 minutes? If people get bored the arcade will be right beside us... So if people who come later find that the group is small, they can find us inside the arcade or eating lunch (and possibly, most likely eating breakfast too) at a food court close by. ^^;;

So we have 2 meet up spots set up for ppl taking the TTC, and a location in side for meeting up at the mall.

I'll leave the time and location for Finch Station meeting spot up to Katsuyuki to decide on and announce.

I'm gonna edit the first post and update the info, once the Finch Stn info is decided on, I'll go edit that in as well...or some one give me a kick in the head to go do so.

We'll be outside the arcade for a bit (I'm thinking around 20 mins to wait for ppl to show and then another 10 to just talk).

I don't really play anything arcade game wise, and I'll be wearing 2in platform shoes to go with my lolita outfit, so I'll be outside the arcade waiting.

If we want to take photos, I say we can use the nice bridge area right beside the arcade first cause it's so Asian-y and pretty, and that will elongate how long we will be there for people who arrive late. No guarentee we'll be there for that long though, so try for as close to 12pm as you can or you might miss us.

Mmm...meatballs. I need to get those, too. I'm horribly addicted.

If not, I'll do what I did last just meet you guys at P-mall. Quick question, I know the information is already posted up, but what day was it going be? Both routes are about the same. About a 40-45 minute bus ride. So it's all a matter of how convinient it'll be for you to get to either of the meeting places.

Since you're coming from Mississauga, I would assume that Finch would be closer and more convenient for you, since Kennedy station is further along the transit line. Pacific Mall is located at the intersection of Kennedy and Steeles.

I haven't decided if I'm going yet, but if I am, I'll be driving from Guelph along the 401 probably right past Mississauga. If you'd like, I don't mind going too far out of my way to pick you up if it'll save you time and money from public transit.

Finch probably would be better. I second that for a Mississauga resident. Kennedy would be more for those coming from the southern half of Scarborough or somewhere more along the lines of Downtown or Western GTA.

I'm gonna go home for that weekend. I spend a lot of weekends at home cause I just don't rest well at school...keep thinking about assignments and stuff. It's also more fun at home since most my friends are in the GTA and UW really deserved the ranking as the Canadian Uni w/ the least student social life.

No one here really does anything, and even at the last CTRL-A (anime club) meeting, we almost had to cancel the club for the term because there weren't even enough UW students around who were willing/able to run the club, and while probably half the memberships aren't UW students, we still needed students to run the club under school rules. In the end, the only way to get people to take the exec positions was to threaten them into it...how sad...

Come to CTRL-A!!! Not terribly much cosplay going on, but there's semi-cosplaying for Karaoke as well now since me and Kristy at least have issues with trying to dress up as much as possible.

I'll be attempting to attend as many shows as I can with some kind of minimal to full costume. I'm also going to be attempting to organize a cosplay contest for one of the winter shows. The fall Halloween shoe's cosplay contest went kaput cause we all came in late, so I'm gonna try to make it up to Amy (Fall activities co-ord), but running a make up cosplay contest this term.

I'm busting out my sewing machine tonight and going to Fabricland next week to get all the stuff done for alterations to my P Mall outfit. Then I'm figuring out once and for all if it's reasonable to wear it all the way there by test driving it at CTRL-A.

Chef and Archy - O.o;; Guess people don't check around the forum as often as I do. I think I read just about any and every thread on cosplay.com that is either relevant to me or I find interesting. I'm that big a loser.

Well, I don't come on Cosplay.com that often, and most of my time spent on here is in the photo galleries looking at all the cool costumes. ^_^

Hopefully, I'll see you at this event (if I come)! :)

Oh, so that's what it means, I was wondering about. Thanks for explaing Infini. It seems were kinda the same, I'm a shy person too but I'm trying not to be shy anymore. If I go, I won't be hard to miss since I'm most likely will be cosplaying Lantis from Rayearth OVA. [I'll be wearing everything including a cape except for the armour.] Its still a while to say if I can make it, but I'm sure I can make it unless my parent plan to celebrate my b-day on the 26 of Febuary, but I plan to celebrate it on the 19 ince its closer to my b-day. Edgar - Aside from the stuff Infini listed, we also do stuff like dinner break entertainment...some contests and stuff. We're aiming for 3 contests and 2 seminars this term. Cosplay, Karaoke and fanart contests and drawing and cosplay seminars.

The cosplay contest has typically been a halloween show tradition, but as it feel apart due to our cruddy tardiness in the fall term, I'm gonna try to get one going this term.

CTRL-A also has one other thing over other clubs (aside from having our projector hang from Karl's "torture machine"), shows are 2 days long (Friday 4 30pm-10 30pm and Saturday 12 noon to 10 30pm). We also have a concession stand and an occasional dealer. O.O *promoting the club to death*

It's a geek club at a geek school.

Oneas - I'm not sure if I'm out of place to say this or not, but 13, you'd be in Jr high right? Not all parents are like this, but I've found that a lot of parents of Jr high students will be much more strict about these kind of outings, especially since I don't know if you know anyone that's going. Please clear it with them first and know that there will be no adult supervision if they ask (cause while some of us are "legal adults", we sure as hell don't act it).

My parents didn't really restrict me much, except that while I was living at home (Jr. high and early on in high school), I had to get home by dark...or around 6 or 7pm during winter time. Also, they made sure that at least one of the people I was going out with was someone they've met.

Once I hit about 16 and started working, my parents were find with me going out as long as I got home by about 11pm or so and as long as *I* know some of the people I was going out with.

Now that I'm in university, the only thing my parents care about is that if I go out, I be quiet as hell if/when I get home as to not wake them up and to warn them that I'm coming home for the weekend so I don't scare them half to death thinking someone broke in like that one time... -_-;;

I don't think he even needed to ask, just come join us since he already knows so many people going. He's not that much of a kid compoared to the rest...well, compared to the younger end of the age spectrum of the group that went last time anyway. I'm guessing (and going by profile info here) that if Katsuyuki is 15, then the trio that was youngest on the last trip would have been 14, since Katsuyuki tells me that they were a yr younger than he was. 13's right there with that.

And come to think of it, Timmy's only 12, and he goes just about anywhere, even if his sister's not going with him. Then again he would be considered (it loses some elegance in the translation, but not really meaning) what would be refered to in Chinese as a "butt following bug". Hmm...maybe it does lose some meaning in the translation. Whatever...you get the drift. ^^;;

I'm not taking names down since there's no waiting involved anyway...and using last time as an example, anyone and everyone (including myself) may not make it in time.

If people want to post which station they're going to, or if they're meeting up at P Mall, that's good, but if they don't want to, I at least don't mind since it's not like a nice long list will get my ass out of the door and to the station any faster. XD

Uh...Scoti? Which station are you going to? Cause if you're not sure how to get to P Mall by yourself, me or Katsuyuki can wait for you at the station, no problem, but would need to know which one of us should expect you.

I think ChibiK3ro offered to pick up Scoti if he decides to go. But in the case that he does not go, I guess we'll have to know. I think that also goes for everyone else who also want to go to P Mall and are not sure how to get there as well.

I say you'd still be more than welcome to join us without a costume. I mentioned it before (somewhere in the thread...) that the requirement was really just to ensure we don't only end up with one or two people in costume and the rest chickening out.

After a few initial shots I'd like of my costume (for my records), I really would like to spend some time wandering around the mall and check out some stores. It seems rarely done when with other anime fans since the focus seems to fall on anime and food. I like food, but can only take so much bootleg anime in such a short period of time.

I really wish the clothes there would fit me more though. Chinese mall as it is...really doesn't work for me, cause all the clothing seems to be made in "petite" sizes (since tall Chinese women are few and far in between) and nothing seems to cover my ankles, and I'm only 5'7", and I don't really plan to shop for mini-skirts and shorts. -_-;;

If you're shopping for shirts, I'll defiinitely join you. I'm just taller than the average Chinese person, not any wider, so the shirts are about all that fit me...and occasionally shoes, but the shoes that seem really trendy right now scare me more than anything else. XD

Hey all, i think I'll be there. This is my second outing (cosplay bowling was my first) and it'd be good to see you guys again. I was asuma from naruto at bowling, but that might be a little to much for running randomly around a busy mall...i dont know yet what i'll do...

hey amy the yu...any possibility of maybe getting people together afterwards for a trip to that really good sci-fi burger place like after the bowling...i ask you because you the organizer this time

Probably only if there's actually a method of getting there.

I'd like to go, but I think most of the people going are going via TTC. I don't actually remember where the sci-fi burger place is, so unless someone figures out how to get there by bus or something...

Sci Fi was at Dufferin and Steeles... So about 10-15 minutes west just along Steeles. I'll likely have my car so I could take 4 people, as could somethingcatchy (dude, I really hate your screenname on here) if we decide to not carpool and take separate cars. So that'd be at least 10 in total going over there is genuine interest in it. I think I'll go regardless of whether the mass of people wants to go cause it's that good XD

It's likely that myself and my friend Leger (somethingcatchy on cosplay.com... Asuma at cosplay bowling), will both have our cars with us so we can take ourselves and 8 other people over there. It's only about a 10 minute car ride west of the Pacific Mall so it's not really too far out of way to bring people back to the mall either.

The only problem I'm seeing is that we don't know how many people are going to turn up and if everyone wants to go to Sci-Fi Cafe afterwards, we won't be able to take everyone by car.

I won't be able to come anymore. I thought I'd have my car fixed by then, but it has come up with another more complicated issue. Since it stalls everytime I come to a red traffic light or stop sign, it wouldn't be a good idea to drive it to Toronto.

Sorry about saying I would come, but then backing out. I just had something fixed on it yesterday, so it's a bit discouraging that everytime I fix something, another thing breaks on the same day.

I hope everyone has a good time!

Steroids are hormones, so don't affect reproductive abilities...unless it's radioactive steroids or something. You get larger, fully grown bunnies faster than if you let them grow normally. If they reach sexual maturity sooner, then they'd start mating sooner...I was kinda hoping that people would overlook the "they're larger than normal" part cause I just couldn't think of a better simile. Maybe I should have said something more along the lines of "like bunnies multipliying under a time lapse camera", but that just doesn't sound as interesting. -_-;;

Well, it seems like a dinner at the Sci-Fi themed restaurant is planned after the overall trip. Two people will be driving around 5 people I think, if it's possible?

As for number of people, I think it's probably more than 15. And as for costumes, seems like Fruits Basket (including myself) and Naruto maybe? Other than that, not sure..

I think between 2 cars, it would be 2 drivers plus 8 people if we go by legal car seating arrangements (which I think the drivers would prefer).

And holy shit that's a lot of people. This is gonna be fun. ^^

I keep changing my mind on costume...but we'll see what I end up with. It'll definitely be full costume, although I wanna try to come up with something that I can get out of the house with w/o my mom laughing her ass off at me for wearing it in public. -_-;;

Sorry guys, but as one of the drivers, I have to say only as many people as seatbelts, so that means me + 4 (5 if there's a really chibi person that can squeeze between me and the front passanger XD) and chibi k3ro + 4 (I'm sure he'll agree with me)

I certainly don't want to get a ticket, and I don't think the officer would know what to think if he pulled over a car full of crazy cosplayers *laughs at thought*

If anyone else might have a car, please speak up, so we can figure out this dinner thing!

Yeah... Sci Fi stuff.

Myself driving + 4 people, Leger driving + 4 people so that looks like at least 10 assuming there is that much interest. I'm definately not over stuffing my car for anything past the number of seatbelts there are. That includes trunks and rooftops too XD

No offense to everyone coming, but I would like to give some preference to the friends I have that are coming along that I keep in touch with online and don't get to see very often in person while at the same time, I'll feel bad if there is THAT much interest in Sci-Fi and we can't figure out a way for everyone else to get there >_<

I'm not really familiar with the bus routes since I do have a car. Can someone investigate bus routes from Pacific Mall to Sci Fi? Sci Fi is on the northwest corner of Dufferin and Steeles about 10 - 15 minutes west of the Pacific Mall.

Oh... and I'm not wearing a costume :P I may throw on my Naruto Hitai-Ate or something, but I won't be in full costume by any means. Consider me camera-bitch or bag-holder as Ochika has recently announced to me. If everyone has the patience and there's a nice site in the mall (people have mentioned a bridge?), I can always try to get a couple "professional" (and I use the term loosely) looking photos of everyone's costumes.

*pulls out handy TTC map even though currently living in K-W*

Alrighty, it seems that the best way to get to Sci Fi from P Mall via buss would be to take the 53 westwards to Yonge St. and then transfer to the 60 which will take us to Dufferin St. I would estimate about a 45-50min bus ride for that...ouch...

Guess we'll be seeing how many people are interested in going for dinner at Sci Fi. I'm not terribly happy about it, but I'll be willing to take the bus if more people go to Sci Fi than there are spaces available in the cars...but only if someone with a cell phone buses over with me so there's a way to contact someone in case lost-ness occurs.

there's a lot of grammar errors in the above paragraph, but I just came to the realization that I'm gonna be up for quite a while working on my stupid cs project, so my brain decided it would quit early today so that it doesn't have to feel the pains of mundane project stuff. =/

As for the rides I am going to play favorites with my friends, like I said. I consider myself good friends with Mekou and Ochika, so those are 2 people I'd like in my car. Scoti is also friends with them, so she's more that welcome to travel with me too.

I'll then have one spot left open... Then Leger (somethingcatchy, whatever... call him Leger. I have ever since I've known him and that's been at least 7 years!) would have room for 4 or 5 people. I would assume that he would give a lift to those others who are interested, such as you Amy, Katsuyuki(?), hikarilight(?), but I really don't know how many people we're going to end up with who are at the Pacific Mall and then how many of those people at PMall are going to want to go to Sci-Fi.

For those I drive to Sci-Fi, I have no problem driving you guys back to PMall or anywhere you prefer to go as long as it's not too far out of my way and I'm not driving to 4 different locations ^_^

Join me on the middle of the night TTC riding. I'm so used to taking TTC at odd hours of the day (I've done as early as 4 30am and as late as 2 30am) that this doesn't bother me at all. Then again, I live on a blue line, so the bus from the subway station to my house will run 24/7.

Drivers? If people who are getting a ride from you guys are taking TTC on the way home, any chance for a drop off at Finch station? It's only a little closer than a drive back to P Mall, but hells more convenient for most people taking transit.

Sci Fi is actually pretty inexpensive. It's like...fancy place to eat fast food. The food is yummy and the prices are the same as something like McDonalds even though the quality of stuff is SOOOOO much better.

I would think that eating at Sci Fi would probably be cheaper or the same as eating at P Mall, so money shouldn't be a factor.

And cause I need to let it out GRAAAA!!! DAMN paypal. They have no 1 800 number, so you have to spend all the $ for long distance and then they put you on hold for everything.

I just want to FREAKING VERIFY my account. The last step already f-ed up on me and I was on hold for almost 20 mins before getting through to Customer Services, and then they transfer me to Account Maintainance and I'm on hold for another 15 mins and now I've been on hold to Global Services for the last 10 mins cause they're stupid and can't even keep their departments straight!!! That's already 45 mins of long distance costs for something that should take about 5 mins to clear up and get overwith.

And on top of this screwiness, my MSN refused to work so I can't even chat with people. =_= *is thoroughly pissed*

I don't want to speak on behalf of Leger, but I honestly have no problem swinging down to Finch Subway station since that is only like, 5 minutes south on the way back towards Pacific Mall after Sci Fi.

I really don't know what's going on after Sci Fi (if anything), but I'll be travelling east on Steeles until Markham Rd/Highway 48 when I'll be going north whenever I end up going home. Welcome to the boards and it's good to hear that you're interested in cosplaying ^^

However, this thread isn't the place to post about this event, if you will. You can try getting more attention by starting a new thread about it ^^;;

(ish also off topic)..my computer blew up...not because of MSN but I'd like to blame it anyway ^_^

Ouch...My laptop decided it wanted to make friends with a virus a couple of weeks ago and fried it's brains. I lost 10 gigs of manga scanlations and about 3 gigs of anime music (thank God I managed to burn the other 10 gigs off in time).

It's all happy and back to normal now, but still...I've only been able to rebuild my manga scanlation pile back to 2 gigs since the laptop brain frying event. -_-;;

Can I come to sci-fi with you guys? Coz if possibe, then I'll join you on the TTC~

OT about the MSN thing: Hey, my computer's crapped up and I can't get on ANY MSN, not even web MSN (because I'm on dial up), I suffer more =P Oh how I suffer...

Come join, come join. ^^ I want as many people as possible to go for dinner. So much more fun with a big group, even for the ones who end up taking the bus from P Mall.

Middle of the night TTC is fun, and it's always nice to have someone to ride out to the ghettos of Sarsbrough with. ^^

Welcome. ^^ The main issue with a lot of gatherings is that most people can't travel out too far for a small gathering/photoshoot. A good number of Southern Ontario's cosplay community lives in and around the GTA, and since TO's such a large city, it's easily accessible by bus or train for those who don't drive. That's the reason why most of the gatherings tend to land in Toronto.

It's also kinda mid-winter right now...so gardens are a bit...out of season. ^^;;

Hikarilight - Actually, this post is pretty well placed. Maybe after we decided that we're heading off to P Mall, this thread kinda got specific, but originally, I made the thread asking if people are interested in any random gatherings/photoshoots anytime soon. If I could change the thread title, that would be the best, but since I can't and there's no real reason to bother a mod into doing it, we kinda ended up making it into a "P Mall trip #2" thread. XD

I'd love to say that I have it decided...but the weather's so cruddy lately that it's hard to decide. Most (read: ALL) my costumes are rather unfit for any kind of remotely cold weather. Maybe I'll wear my Yuuko kimono that I'll be wearing to the V-dance, except worn properly with all the folds at the waist and stuff instead of the "about to strip it all off" style that Yuuko always wears her kimonos. I can fit leggings and a long sleeve t-shirt under that..would b warmer than any other costume I have. -_-;;

I would like to someday be able to put on a proper kimono all by myself, but it's so insanely hard. I even cheated on the pre-tied obi I made...it zips up the back and is double sided (red on the outside, black on the inside) so I can use it for multiple occasions and multiple costumes. XD

Highly doubtful, but I might even make all the 50 000 bits and pieces needed for an authentic kimono. I self taught myself how to tie a butterfly obi a few days ago...my arms still hurt when I think about all the work involved. Kimonos are so hard to wear. -_-;;

Akane or Chouji. I'm not sure yet. ^^ I vowed to not wear Chouji until I have a proper wig for him and I may be getting one. We shall see though. ^^ If not Chouji then Akane. =D

I'm bringing my extra tails to stick on people if they don't have a costume. XD hehehe

Hum......very intersting Amy, so I guess you'll be going as Yuuko with her kimono outfit and you Mekou-chan will be either cosplaying as Akane or Chouji correct? I never knew that these kimono outfit can be hard to make. As for my outfit, its not for the winter, but it still can work with it. I decided to go as Lantis from Rayearth OVA only without the Armour. When I was wearing that outfit at CN Anime, I was boiling in it and I figure it should be alright with this kind of weather. Anywho, I hope the weather will be great on that day and I whish everyone best of luck with there cosplay outfit.

We'll be inside for much of it though. =/ Don't forget that if you were boiling in 20 degree weather, it's the same as the indoor temp.

I'm praying that it will be going back up to maybe even just above freezing. If by some strange weather fluke, the weather spikes up to anything close to 10 degrees, I'm gonna forgoe the coat completely and wear my haori over top of the kimono. ^^;;

I'm probably gonna go as Ken from Weiss Kreuz Gluhen. It'll probably be my only new costume until AN, so yeah, that's what I'm doing. Now to get the hair right. I haven't dyed my hair for months because of this costume! But I'm pretty sure I'll be going, maybe with a friend or 2.

I'll be attending the event with my boyfriend. I'm not sure which costume he's going to wear, but as I've just dyed my hair nicely, I'll be coming as Kyo from The Final PV (Dir En Grey)

Hope to see you all there :3
