I'm new to cosplay, so it's gonna be like explaining stuff to me very difficult unless u use normal terms.

Well anyway I want to cosplay as Seifer from FF8. I have a decent idea of how to make his costume but it is rather cost worthy..

first off is his jacket- to me it feels like it should be suade and I should just cut of the buttons of a store bought suade jacket, the problem with that is, most suade jackets have fluffy stuff at the top near the collar, and I don't know how to remove it without making it look bad. Then I would need to sew (or however u spell it) a red cross in the side, which brings up another problem, suade is very thick and tough... Any clues as how I could do all this? So far the jacket will set me back probably about $200-300.

Next, pants- black leather pants, shouldn't be hard, just need to find a place that sells them. Cost around $100- 300 depending on make and where I can find it.

Now to the main problems.

Sword- god only knows how I will get this one done, any clues as to how I can make it?

His belt- kinda hard, I have no ideas on how to do it so any suggestions?

his shirt- for all u that have seen it, I don't know what I should do for it, any suggestions as well?

judging from your material list your making the most expensive and uncomfortable Seifer costume created. I don't know if suade is such a good idea It's heavy and hard to clean and you have to ask yourself is it worth the hassle and money? I'd stick with a altered normal gray coat plus it would be easier to paint on the red crosses.

Leather pants..er..are you wearng this to a summer convention? if so I'd think twice about that...

I don't know much about the construction of gunblades but I guess you could use plywood and cut the shape out of that

his shirt can be easily made by altering a normal blue shirt or vest and adding sliver edging around it. you can also use one of those simplicity vest patterns

tight, and yes this is a summer convention x____x... but I'm light weight so I can take the heat! and a grey coat... not sure how good that would look though, I really don't think it'd look to well. and all suade isn't heavy and hard to clean. I wear a suade jacket during winter and I don't feel weighted too much. ^_^ (don't know y I have it here in texas.... but it does get cold here sometimes)
