This sale mostly benefits members since their entire stock is on sale.

However, if you are not a member there is a lot of fabric that is Buy 1 get 2 Free until Jan 18.

Last year I stocked up on all the fabric that I needed for Anime North and Toronto Trek. Spent a lot of money, but also saved a lot of money!

I kept meaning to post about this (my mom mentioned it to me a few weeks ago) but I keep forgetting. :thumbsup: I remember hitting this same sale with Kaijugal and Sarcasm-hime last year. We managed to clean up pretty well. I just wish I had the money to do the same this year. :(

For anyone wondering if they should take advantage of this sale or not, put it in this perspective. These are some of the best deals you'll probably find of some specific fabrics that you just can't seem to find anywhere else, not even on Queen St. Not only that, but FabricLand usually runs a major one day sale quarterly (ever 3-4 months). You miss this one and then next one in March/April might be a little too close to AN for what you're working on. Just thought I'd mention it the same way someone mentioned it to me awhile back. ^_^

mmmmm. I will be at the sale, I have a gift certificate to spend there as well! I will, however, limit myself to purchasing only what I need for my Inara (Firefly) costume, which I have already invested too much in. YAY SALES! Kia is right, folks - and it's not just the fabrics. This is also a kickass sale to stock up on threads, trims, interfacing, all those notions, etc.

It'd be very fun to go to the sale in Toronto with folks I know...wonder if I could make it in for the day... ah well. If not, I'm sure I'll do well in Guelph!

There's one over on Lawerence Rd as well in Scarborough.

Crap! I need fabric. Could have used this big time and the next time I'm going back to TO is at the end of the month. ARG!!!

Well, for the spring one, someone please post when they find out the date. I'd love to go nuts on the store since I can't make it for this one (as there's no Fabricland around K-W). Would at least be good for getting Otakon cosplay stuff.

Kia

We probably won't know anything about the spring one for another month and a half, two months, I should think. But will do if I find out before anyone else. ^_^

I still have all the material for the costumes i was supposed to do last year, but i will pick up lots of trim, and get teh rest of teh fabric for my EGL... good thing school just started back up, that means I can esily "break out the sewing" and get most of that EGl done so I can judge the amount of lace and ribins I need...

I am still a google master. I love google searches so much. *nuzzles computer screen*

Found the Kitchener Fabricland address:
FABRICLAND WESTERN #10
1352 WEBER ST.EAST
KITCHENER , ON N2A 1C4

I will go there no matter what. However, is the sale at all the locations? During my google searching, I ran upon this:
http://www.fabricland.ca/sale0828.html

A Summer sale of 2003, but they specifically excluded some locations, one was the Kitchener one.

I'll probably end up going either way as I still need fabric no matter what. Gonna pray that they're not excluding us this time round.

One thing to consider for people NOT currently Fabricland members: depending on what are you buying sometimes is CHEAPER to pay for the membership at the same time, and buy at the discounted prices than to "save" the membership fees and buy at non-member prices.
Happy shopping....

I think it excludes the cambidge location as well, but they always seem to have the same sales as the website. Even though (according to that site) they shouldn't. I guess you could call the Kitchener fabricland and ask them, if you want to know beforehand. :)

That's a good point. There's really no point in rushing over (especially when my mom told me there might be a cold snap over the weekend) if there's no discount. I could always go some other time when I need a break from studying. Plus, going to the Lawerence location in Scarborough would be so much simpler if I'm just going regularily since I live so close to there.

Thanks Dawn keke ^_^

Oh yeah, since there's lots of students here, depending on the location/manager, you can get the membership for cheaper with a valid student ID; however its not at every location and its at the discretion of the individual manager ^_^;

The one on Hurontario in sauga is good, she gave me my 2005 membership free cuz she remembered me weee, she's so nice :D
and she's always giving stuff for $1/meter when its supposed to be $5.
I like that one the most...

OH. Has anyone been to the RichmondHill location?
apparently its a nonstop-sale location or something. I was wondering if their selection is worth trekking up there for :)
thanks in advance ^_^

I've been to Richmond hill. It's everything 50% off. Good for notions and trims, but the fabric selection seems to be out-of style items. I've never found the plain basic colors I was looking for. I'm sure anybody going there will walk out with a bag fool of goodies, anyways...

Seed just found the phone # for the Kitchener location for me. I called them up and found out that while it's apparently a different division from the TO ones that are holding the sale, they're holding a pretty much 50-66% off almost everything sale starting monday...until mid-february. XD

And in addition to that, membership at Kitchener is free!

I'm so happy now. ^____^

Full membership at the Cambridge store expires a year after you bought it, at the end of the month you bought it in. I bought mine January last year.

The regular memberships are free at the Cambridge location, but premium ones are $15.

It's not really strange. Just think of them as different branches of the same company. The name's the same, but the way they run isn't exactly the same. Like...now the prices in McDonalds in Canada isn't the same as the ones in the USA or in China or anywhere else...nor are the menus. Same idea, just that this is on a smaller scale.

Yeah. The sticker on mine says it expires January 31st, 2005. They keep reminding me everytime I go in. I once asked one of the people working there about the differences between stores. She gave me a good explanation about it, which I promptly forgot. If anyone is *really really* curious as to why those things are different, I can ask the next time I'm there. :)

Where is Empress Walk? Sounds like I should check this place out ...

As for the differences in sales and memberships, I get the feeling that the stores not involved in the sale might be franchises ... but I don't know enough about them to say yes or no.

Actually, I know what I need. Both Jen and I are planning to 'stock up' for quite a few costumes, and we're also making plushies and the like for AA this year, so finding the materials for that cheap means we can keep our final costs as low as possible. ^^

I actually have a little photo album with my character printouts in it for reference, plus a full list of what I need for each costume, and if I have the pattern already, the exact lengths.

But I'm obsessed. :schitzo:

I do too, but I'm 1) pretty broke right now. And 2) if my mom is going shopping with me I probably won't be able to walk away with much of a stash. She gets really annoyed when I buy fabric for more future costumes when I can't even get off my lazy butt and finish the 4 that have been sitting around the house half finished for months, even years. But I do have a pretty good stash now ... but fabric is addictive, always have to have more! ^_^

So we'll see how good my haul ends up being tomorrow. ^_^

So...how did everyone do at the sale? I got...remaining fabric for my Ad Astra project, and a whole lot of fabric for an outfit I dreamed up this week. No idea if/when I'll make it, but dang, I have the fabric to do it! ^_^ I started out with a mere $50 bill (at reg. price it would have been closer to $100...aghhhh...), but managed to also get $25 off via a gift certificate from a pal and my stamp & save discount. I needed more white fabric for my Ishida costume... I bought so much that time... and I only spent $12 today.... TT.TT...

Remember, I didn't but anything at all (except food) T______T;;

Random note: I should have bought some white like the one Seed bought, since I need that eventually for young Itachi.... ><;; I could have even done finish it sometime this year XD

I didn't make it to the sale at all. I was hoping to go if we got to Toronto a little earlier, but since I went with my parents and wasn't driving, I didn't have a choice in where we were going before or afterwards. I guess I'll just have to wait for the sale in Cambridge. :)

WHOOO!!! Someone else in the same unfortunate boat as me.

I was going to spend the weekend at school (in Waterloo), but ended up rushing back on the 3 30pm bus from Kitchener cause my freaking laptop decided to pick up a virus and fry itself. It's now out getting fixed...after many hours of burning all I can to CD and still loosing most of my manga scanlations. ;_; *cried like a baby* My most precious manga...I'd honestly rather lose a foot of my hair than all those scanlations.

I got back around 6pm, but my mom decided I didn't need fabric today and the my dad took the car and I took to comforting myself with a big bowl of ice cream (at least one positive thing that happened today).

I'm going to go cry in a corner over my poor scanlations now...which will be deleted soon so my computer can get reformated... =(

at the sale I got 4m of black vinal, 2m of red vinal, all the material for my Lenne costume and a bunch of threads and such, all for $99 exactly. Without the sale, the material probaly would have costed me around $200. XD

I made an attempt for the Kitchener Fabricland today...1 hour bus ride, 30 mins of wandering in the cold, and all I got myself was completely, utterly LOST! XD

Gonna call them up and try to nail down a more exact location and then go for attempt 2 on Thursday.

In true Excel Saga fan spirit, Today's experiment..............failed.

One thing about Fabricland... there is ALWAYS something on sale. If you know what you want and have time to wait, it will eventually be on sale.

*laughs* And I thought you were going to hold back?

I bought over $150 in fabric, but everything was bought for a specific 'purpose', and most of it is going into plushies, so it was worth it. I now have everything I need except the boning for Gatomon, and almost everything save the raw materials for my armor for Pirogoeth.

Does anyone know where to get boning cheaper than fabricland? Because it doesn't tend to go on sale....

Neverends has it. It's on Queen St. West and Spadina, on the south side of Queen, one or two stores after the TD Canada Trust. Not sure the exact price, but a friend mentioned it was fairly reasonable.

I finally got my arse to Fabricland. And I only realize NOW that I forgot about the $5 off coupon. >_< OUCH!!!

AAHHH!!! I just spent over $100 on fabric. Most of it's really cool (the rest are necessities) and it would have been well on it's way to $300 if it wasn't for the free membership card and all the discounts that came with that, but still...$100's a hell of a lot for me to spend on one trip to the fabric store. -_-;;

ACK! I forgot about the coupons. There was a lady walking around w/ one...I should have asked to mooch the $20 off one off her. ;_;

Does anyone know if the KW membership card would work in Toronto as well? I guess this is mostly directed at Infini since no one else seems to know the workings of these "branch" Fabriclands really well.
