I noticed that the Fanimecon website hasn't announced any con-rates for the San Jose Marriott yet, and I checked the price for the SJM on www.marriott.com and the cheapest price I got (for AAA discount) was $125.00 a night, so to be safe, I booked the room for 3 nights (Friday through Sunday night) for the Fanime weekend.

I might still show up on Thursday night to check out the place and see if anyone's cosplaying, and then drive home, only to come back Friday morning earrrrly and maybe get my room. :) I have to remember to do valet parking, cos last year I remembered that the Marriott self-park has NOOOO overnight parking, and so that means you have to get your car out of the parking-lot by 11pm or else you will get ticketed, and have no access to your car.. :lost: Having to drop everything each night and move my car last year got tiring, and I was tempted to book a room elsewhere, but I love how the Marriott is connected to the SJ convention center, and you can go in/out easily and the SJCC is open all the time (24 hour DDR!!) :skidude2: See you all in about 4 months!!

:] Parking-wise, my group got to Fanime early on Friday morning around 9am.. possibly 10am and we found a spot in the parking lot behind the Marriot. The Fanime site recommends that you leave a little note in your car about being a "Fanimecon Attendee" to let officers know not to tow your car for overnight parking back there.

I think the Fanime site releases a date about two months before con to advertise a special deal on rooms. It's sometimes around $110-$120/night I think. I wish I could be more specific, but my group has been working staff lately, so we get different treatment. Good luck getting a room and seeya there. :]

Since I didn't really leave the hotel that much last year, and if I did getting food was within walking distance, I might just leave the car with the valet and pay $19 a day for it. One less thing on my mind to worry about.. ;)

That's not a bad price for the hotel, and it's about the right amount that I got my room for, so I'm glad. :) I like the SJ Marriott, and the room service they have is pretty good and not too expensive. And one night I'm going to have to go to the main restuarant and have that Kobe Beef fried steak again, and maybe a lobster corn-dog.. heehee yummmmm!

Hm. I don't know if I should get a room or not because last year we drove there on friday, drove back, drove there saturday morning, stayed in the hotel that night till sunday, drove back sunday, drove there monday morning, and then drove back home ^^';;;;.(We live like 30/45 mins. away from San Jose). I wanna get a hotel room so it's not as much of a hassle, but I'm not sure if my parents would let me stay with others or if they'll give me money to pay for it. ^^';. hm... maybe if the price goes down I might get a room *nodnod* ^_^;

I'm going to wait until they have the link to the hotel booking thing up on the fanime site, because i'm too lazy to call the hotel and reserve rooms. The Mariott is a really nice hotel, but the elevator situation was horrible. My room was on the 17th floor last year so it was usually around a 10-15 minute wait for an elevator to come by, especially on the last day! I waited like an hour for an empty elevator (because my boyfriend and I had too many bags to fit into an elevator with a bunch of people). Parking was pretty expensive too.

:] I think it's convenient to work as staff. In my division, we only worked at least 12 hours spread out during the entire con and our room was cheaper. The only drawback is that you may miss some anime, however even then you can make negotiations with your manager so you can skip a bit of your shift and watch. Then again, my division was the Game Room and we have such a cool manager. You get a free breakfast, a cheaper room, and you get to roam around restricted places with a staff badge.

Since I didn't really leave the hotel that much last year, and if I did getting food was within walking distance, I might just leave the car with the valet and pay $19 a day for it. One less thing on my mind to worry about..

:\ I wish all con goers had money to just toss around... or at least I wish I did. *tear*

JuJu: Awww.. I didn't mean it like that.. *hug* I was just quoting the price for valet parking as it states on the hotel's website, and it serves as giving people who are staying there a heads-up if they too don't want to go far for parking.

I just checked the Fanime website and there is a link where you can reserve rooms now.

Oh, very nice! :) The con-rate is cheaper than the AAA rate I got, so I cancelled my previous reservation and made a new one via the Fanime website, and got the SJ Marriot for $99 a night for 2 beds. :bigtu: The $$ I save per night will probably go to the parking fees and also the hi-speed internet access in the room, since i plan to bring my computer and u/l the pics from Fanime each evening. (Friday through Sunday night)

:P It's alright Euro-kun. *huggles* I get it all the time. Story of my life it seems. ANYWAYS...

This is the link of parking near and afar from the Convention Hall. It's very convenient to go there and plot out where you plan to park. The lot behind the Marriot is fairly big.

That's also the website for more information too. I found it incredibly useful when I found a spot to hang at.

That's funny. Our car didn't get ticketd last year. It was only five bucks too. we only have to pay for friday because weekends are free and so are holidays (monday being memorial day).

I think DT SJ is extremely lenient, however on the Fanime site last year, they recommended that you post a note in your car. I also only paid for Friday and I was good.

Gainax Boy: buy your room ASAP. Towards the con date, the price goes up. Mind you it's only ten to twenty dollars... but that's per night that you have to pay. Rangle up about ten friends and make them split the bill. Remember, not everyone is going to be in the room at the same time.

Ooh... That's a good idea... Fanime didn't have the rates up, and I'm kind of starting to worry, as my parents will be out of town, I don't want to go with them, and I'll -need- to stay there with someone. (OmgDiana I need you!)

Luckily, I'm pretty sure I can get my hotel room for free... That makes everything better.

Last year, I stayed at the Marriott and it worked out pretty well. They didn't charge me extra for having to check out early because I got sick either. I didn't care for the parking situation - I thought $19 a day was ridiculous and then it took them 30+ minutes to get the car out when we wanted to drive somewhere, and the last day, they couldn't find me car for hours and I was sick! Other than that, it was fine and dandy. But this year, I made reservations for the Hilton, since it's still connected to the convention center. I wanted to save some money on parking, and their valet parking is only $10 a day, and I still got the room at the same rate as the Marriott. We'll see how it goes!

Really? Parking at the Marriot is $19/day?! Geesh, that's ridiculous! I'd think it would be the same as the Hilton. Well, I think I'll be dropping people off by the hotel with the luggage and finding parking elsewhere, since no way am I paying that much.

I decided to get a room at the Marriott, since I stayed at the Hilton last year, and was rather dissapointed that all the activity was on the other side. It didn't kill me to walk, but it was rather quiet, which isn't the best enviroment if you want to have a room party (w00t! I turn 19 at Fanime this year) But I heard last year that they were planning on renting the entire convention center for this year. Anyone know if that's still true?

Yep, $19 a day. riiiiidiculous! Esp if you are alone, but if you go with others, you can split the cost, so it wasn't so bad since we split the parking equally last year.

And yes, they are renting the entire convention center. Dealers will be smack dab in the middle, the same stuff as last year will be on the side of the marriott ( i think ) and some other stuff with be on the side of the hilton. I don't remember WHAT exactly, except the hentai room is stuck in my mind after I found that out :p

I recall last year walking to the Starbucks on the lower level of the SJCC, which was a looooong walk from the dealers' room and video-games.. Is the entrance to the Hilton by the Starbucks?

I booked my room at the Marriot, I liked it last year! I sat in the window seat late saturday night and watched the club across the street get busted. ^_^ I think I'll use the parking garage this time, my BF couldn't relax knowing his "precious" was out in the cold. At $19 a day it'll cost me 2-3 plushies, but on well. See you all soon!

Yeah, the Hilton is near the Starbucks. It was rather annoying to have to walk to the entire side for all the con activity. I wish I knew that ahead of time.

my room situation is pretty good at the moment. I'm staying at the mariott this time around.
