Hey, I'm currently at a loss on how to construct a katana for my Baiken cosplay(guilty gear X-2), I know I have to make it out of wood but any suggestions how I should go about doing it? What kind of wood I should use? And making the katana look somewhat real looking?

i actually have a wooden katana for training, i picked it up at some festival for only 25 bucks.

if u got 25 maybe u can pick one up

If you dont use ebay then perhaps check out any local stores that sell swords

Like Oselle suggested, check the Props and Accessories section since there will probably be more skilled people that can help you.

For my sister's Ayame costume we picked up a pair of plastic katana at a toy store for $5 and painted them chrome. They are "short" swords compared to the longer swords that are usually made of metal (does that make any sense??)
