Hey guys. I kind of need help on Devil May Cry costume that I might do. What character, you ask? Why, either a Sin Scythe, or a Sin Scissor...

I need some really good photos of these two, along with their scythe and scissors(most likely, I will use a scythe, and use one bought from the store so the scythe and scissors pictures aren't really needed). I will also need a really good picture of their faces/masks. It would be really helpful if someone could provide me with a drawing/sketch or really good picture(in-game or just official art). I'm more concerned with the mask than anything.

Should I make the mask out of clay and paint it, or buy a plastic one(like those 'happy' and 'sad' drama faces) and paint over it? Suggestions and advice would be nice!

Awesome idea ^^ If me and my twin sis go to Otakon, we'll try to meet up with ya ^_^ We're being Dante and Vergil ^^ Sooo, here's some good references for ya~

Sin Scythes (http://www.moony.nu/dante/media/artbook/artbook_63.jpg)

Sin Sissors (http://www.moony.nu/dante/media/artbook/artbook_62.jpg)

Close up reference of Sin Scythe's mask (http://crazy.jp/~wolfina/dmc_g/06-01.html)

and heres Death Scythe (http://www.moony.nu/dante/media/artbook/artbook_49.jpg) and Sissors (http://www.moony.nu/dante/media/artbook/artbook_48.jpg) just for the hell of it XD

For the mask, I suggest getting a cheap drama mask and adding onto it with clay or some kind of scuplting material. This will probably help you get the details much better ^^ Then paint away~ Good luck with this costume, I can't wait to see the finished results ^_^

Thanks for the pictures! It took me awhile, but I think I got a pretty good sketch of the Sin Scythe's mask.

There is one thing I notice about the mask of each, and I want to know if anyone agrees, disagrees, or isn't really sure.

Both masks, pretty much, have the same thing on the 'face' part. The thing around it reminds me of 'hair' made to have them look like those fancy people who would go around to parties and ballroom dances all the time. The Sin Scissors' 'hair' looks curly and more or less like those white, 'Washington'-like wigs for a man, shorter than the Sin Scythe's. The Sin Scythes' 'hair' is curly as well, but longer. It's positoned to curl over their shoulders, which is a good thing if they actually have a top half or shoulders, so they can move their arms easier. For Sin Scissors, this is a bit of the same case. Hard to explain, really. I just need to figure out how to make those curls...

Now, there is one thing I can't understand for the Sin Scythe's close-up on the face that Wolfina made...What is that golden thing and that other stuff on the cloak, below the mask and 'hair'? Could someone help explain that?

Good places to look for Scythes: Antique stores, large ones. If you live in New England, you're in luck. There's an antique store every 40 ft.

I suggest dulling the blade and put a clearly-visible line of hot glue across it.

I agree with you on all of the above ^^ I still say getting a drama mask and then using some kind of modeling material (and then maybe covering it with some paper mache for some extra durability) would be the best way to go ^^

I think Wolfina-sama just added that stuff for decoration in her picture, she often takes artistic licence and adds to her pieces like that ^^

If you need anymore help I'll still be sticking around this thread , I'm really interested in your costume~! ^_^

Sorry for reviving this old thread..^^ But I finished my mask. Pictures are in my gallery

I bought a plastic, white drama mask and painted around the eyes in purple, then outlined it in gold. My brother and I were planning on putting wires around it and using that for support so we could make paper mache for hair. Clay is a bit too heavy, and I'll need to wear it on my face. How's that sound you guys?

I was also wondering if anyone would have any kind of sound file with the Sin Scythe/Scissor's laugh on it? I can't do the laugh myself, and I want to constantly play it on some voice recording/playing device.
