View Full Version : Help! This is my first cosplay experience

Hi. A friend of mine and I are going to No Brand Con 2003 (http://www.trhonline.com/nobrandcon/) and it'll be our first cosplaying experience. And right now I'd just like overall general advice, since I'll be making the costumes and stuff. We'll be going as Meiko and Miki from Marmalade Boy(the one in braids and the one in the middle) (http://brillantelegance.tripod.com/meiko.html) in their school uniforms. And I was wondering for some general all-around advice for making costumes and stuff.

Hope I don't sound like an idiot or something.

sound like a idiot?! no! never! that's what this forum's for ^ ^
so the one with the braids...that shouldn't be too hard. you can make most most of the costume out of Simplicity patterns that you can find at Wal-mart. Just use like a business suit pattern for the jacket and maybe a kilt pattern...lets see, what else..oh! the hair, do you already have the same hair?

My hair grows really fast and I have about the same hair colour, so I'm not worry about the girl in the braids. Miki (center) is the one I may have trouble with hair -wise, my black haired friend (with incredibly short hair) is going to do her. Any suggestions?

well I would suggest a wig. I know this might sound odd but do you have any Black haircare shops around you? most if not all sell natural looking wigs for about the same price as a good party wig but much better quality (at least around wear I am). if not there is always e-bay and other online sources

Well, we have this place in the mall and the sell wigs and stuff. They're called the hair flair. I guess I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the help!
