HI! I am Angelika and I am from South Dakota. I am Going to my first Con ever at NDK. I am a little bit nervous. (I don't know why) Anyways, I am trying to learn as much as I canabout NDK before I go. (I have been to the site and read all of it.) Like what it was like last year and/or your experience. I am going to be Kanzeon from saiyuki and Asuka's summer dress from Evangelion.

Thanks :drink:

YAY! I hope you have fun at NDK! Anyway, the con has moved hotels so I can't tell you much about the new hotel (besides that it doesn't have much food places near it >.<).
It's a pretty laid back con, from what I've experienced. The staff is very nice (but a little stressed, so please please PLEASE don't block the hallways! The volunteers will yell at you...a lot...).
Most of the people there are very nice. The cosplayers are VERY nice. And if they hold a C.com photoshoot, be sure to make it! And take a camera. Most (if not ALL) of the cosplayers have awesome costumes o.O And the costume/cosplay costume contest is very entertaining (though, the judging over the past few years has been in favor the cutest little kids V.V They're cute and all, I can't help but be jealous... So you can enter, but BEWARE of chibis, lol)
OH! And be sure to bring money for the dealerís room! The dealerís room is big and has a lot of anime and manga goodies! You'll spend more than you'd think -__- It's a like a vortex... But with anime! XD
Also, if you can, go to the dances. They are pretty fun ^_^ (though, I wasn't really supposed to go because I was...12... XD) But if you stay up later and wear skimpier clothes (I wore a tank top and jeans -__-), you might get hit on. but oh well, that's life, right?
And talking about being hit on and that sorts, there isn't much glomping ^_^ So don't worry about random glomps, they don't happen too much. (though, last year, I got a long, caressing back hug >.o Wasn't too bad, but kinda creepy)

Over all, it's a very fun con and I'm sure you'll enjoy it! ^_^ And be sure to get enough sleep and food!

If you intend on enetering the costume contest be forwarned that participation is limited and it fills up quickly. Registration for it takes place on Friday night at the con and people begin lining up for it hours in advance. It sounds like you've already been to the website and read the rules, but if you have any questions feel free to follw the links there or post them here.

I'm sure you know, being from SD up there, to remember to drink lots of water while you're here! I'm not sure what the altitude comparison is, but it's still a good idea. ^^ Make sure you get plenty of rest; I know this is hard to do sometimes when you're having so much fun, but you ought to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep a night. And don't forget to eat! I suggest picking up a little styrofoam cooler on the way and stocking up at a local grocery while you're in the hotel, if you'd like to save some money. This hotel has a Wendy's nearby, and other places within driving distance.

Schedule your time. ^^ Bring a highlighter and try to sort out some sort of schedule, take notes, etc etc etc, so you can be where you want to be at the right time and not miss really important things you want to do/see. And schedule out some time to just hang out... Lots of times folks like to get together and have a meal, it's fun!

The NDK website has loads of great suggestions.... ^^ See you then! =D
