Iím sorry if this isnít CN related enough, but it is intended for CN cosplayers to respond to ( since theyíre in the area) so, I hope this thread is still ok. I didnít know where else to put it so that Toronto cosplayers would visit it!

I just wanted to ask, where do you guys normally go / or which place do you think is the most awesome for Toronto cosplay photo shoots?
Iím not talking about specifically AT the convention centre alone. I mean in general around the Toronto area Ė where do you guys go to for great background scenery???

I guess it depends on the anime series / character youíre doing hu?

Well, how about Full Metal Alchemist? Me and a bunch of my friends are going as FMA characters this year.

Still, Iíd also like some good ideas for random, general anime photo shoots.

Serious

Funny

Romantic

Any kind of location you guys think would be good, would be so helpful!

Thanx u guys, the input is greatly appreciated! :)

Heya - for future refence, threads like this belong in the "Canada Cosplay" section of the Canadian forums. Try to keep the CNA section for threads specifically related to the convention. ^_^

In the past several photoshoots/gatherings have happened at High Park and at Toronto Island.

Hey thanx!

If that's the case then they'll probubly just move the thread, instead of closing it...hopefully :)

In the past several photoshoots/gatherings have happened at High Park and at Toronto Island. In addition to those, there have also been several other events (less "annual" events than the above mentioned ones) all around the city, including cosplay bowling, Pacific Mall cosplay gatherings, piles of series specific photoshoots and lots more smaller photoshoots.

There's also a Japanese park in Mississauga. (I know, not Toronto, but easy to get to from there.) Kariya Park, its up by Square 1. ^_^

NICE!!! Both of you! I LOVE the BOWLING idea!!!

We actually did bowling back in January with a nice turnout although the lighting wasn't the greatest for photography (my photos: http://www.dragonworldz.net/bowling.html). It was pretty popular so it'll liekly happen again. There has also been an annual picnic at Center Island as well as another picnic/BBQ this coming weekend in Mississauga. There are also frequent meet ups at the Pacific Mall (http://www.dragonworldz.net/pmall.html) as well as a past gathering at the Ontario Science Center (http://www.dragonworldz.net/science.html). I also know a few people have roamed through the CNE in costume with amusing results.

There have been talks for other cosplay events like Lazer Tag/Quest, Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Golf at Putting Edge, and even Canada's Wonderland (through Paracon, which got cancelled or something so don't expect it to ever happen). Expect new events to arise at different times during the school year or feel free to attempt to plan one out yourself ^_^

Anime North has also put on two different dances in the past few months: One for Halloween and one for Valentine's Day. Both dances took place at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center (JCCC) and typically get pretty good turn outs of about 300 or so people. They aren't just dances but also Karaoke and DDR typically.

Usually events/photoshoots get planned and are shared here in this part of the forum. As people have mentioned, past planned photoshoots have happened in Kariya Park in Mississauga and High Park in Toronto. Just keep an eye out for them.

OH MY GOD! THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO MAKE THE COSPLAY RUN FOR!!! (espechially the Center Island thing!)
The cosplay Lazer Tag/Quest actually sounds incredibly exciting!!! (though i've always sucked at Lazer Quest :P Haha!) it is DEFINATLY something i'd love to take part in ......If that's ok. I wouldn't want to crash anybody's party.

You and your pictures are both AMAZING!!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH for telling me about all of this!!!

So, is it ok for anyone on cosplay.com to come to the fun, or is this by invitation only??? Because omg, i am SO IN...if that's ok :p

I'm not sure how popular this idea would be, but right by my house is a park called Chingcousey Park (sp?). It's fairly larger (bigger than Kariya Park), it has a petting farm, a few playgrounds, a little restaurant called the Teahouse (they serve green tea, as well as sushi), and there's a lovely little lake in the centre with lots of geese, ducks, and a couple swans. It's really a nice park, but I don't know how many people actually know about it. It's in Brampton, right by Bramalea City Centre (not hard to get to).

Another nice place to take pictures is the St. George campus of University of Toronto. I know some people have gone there to do photoshoots (e.g. http://www.lelola.net/misc/photoshoots/tsubasa/index.shtml).

Ah, so good to see fellow Bramptoners! I was at the Canada Day's event! I didn't see a Sasuke, but I wish I had 'cause that would have been SO cool! I do remember, however, the small fire up on the hill. o.O
Anyhow, I was thinking of organizing a cosplay picnic at Chingcousey, but these things take months and people to plan out, so maybe I'll hold off on that until next summer. Just out of curiousity, who would be interested in that anyway? Don't wanna plan something no one's going to. :)
