I'm doing Jill Valentines super zombie butt kicking civvies outfit (meaning the blue tube top and mini skirt) and I wondered what fabric those of you had used. I mean, i have a blue tank top that woulda been perfect (had a shelf bra and everything) but I can't figure how I would make it work being that if I cut the straps off, i lose all support.

Could try clear plastic straps instead or some double sided tailor tape?

well i got a pattern by New look (#6468) from walmart and the skirt pattern(#6413) from walmart also and adjusted them so they would fit me. FOr the fabric I got a stretchy blue fabric. only the sides stretched, and a nice black fabric for the skirt. I also bought a little gray fabric for the bottom. if you need any more help. please pm me.

The RE cosplay thread is a great help especially for characters like Jill or Leon.

I didn't use a pattern for my Jill top, but I did have some issues finding a fabric the right color. I finally opted for one that was kind of shiny, but something stretchy would probably suffice better. However, a stiffer fabric works better when putting the buttons down the back, IMO.

As for the tank top, you might be able to work with it if you make sure you fit it really tight to your body after cutting off the straps. Then you'd get more support that way.

i would play around with it but since i'm basically a sewing noob, i don't want to ruin it >.<

For mine, I used this matieral called feather leather. I really like the texture and the color I got for the tube top. For the bra, I bought a strapless bra at Fredericks for strong holding. It work's really well too. It may be expensive, but it's more support. For the mini skirt, it's simple for me really. I just used regular black fabric(it doesn't have to be leather), but for the lining like how she has it on her mini-skirt, I used bias tape. Just for the gray part on the bottom of the skirt, simple; just cut 2 inch width of fabric and lenght however the skirt is, and then just sew it on ;). This costume was very easy for me to make. I hope yours comes out good ;).
