WOW. So far the game is really nice. Its sufficently challenging on normal mode....so much so that the demo disc makes it look as if your playing on a "nightmare" setting in normal.

The story is actually existant, and as you play you unlock the backstory to be viewed at any time in more detail via "Pandora's Box." (The extra content section.) It has encylopedias, pictures, story...I haven't seen cinema's yet, but I'm sure they probably have those too.

The system is slightly more complex the Ikaruga, and if you liked Ikaruga, I'm sure you'd like Orta. You need to transform the dragon between threee forms in order to take on the enemies. (unlike the 2 from Ikaruga.) Each form has its own weakness/strength. Each form can also be made stronger as you progress through a leveling system.

I can't tell if the game has "branching" pathways. (Aka- if you come to a fork, can you select which way to go.) But its generally a "rail" shooter. (Your on a preset path through the game.) This isn't a bad thing either, as there will be so much going on that MORE control on where you go is a hinderance.

The game even features a scoring system challenging you and your friends to beat your best scores. And presumably unlock more extras.

The graphics are top notch, and the lighting effects are awesome.

Has anyone else played it more to give some detail on unlockables? I know that you can unlock Panzer Dragoon One, but not sure what else. :)

Well I played on normal and couldn't get past the bosses on ch. 4 ;_; So I did easy and beat it easily. I'll go back to normal lata. Beating it gives you panzer one, and side story of a enemy, which is kinda difficult to control, and some other side missions too, but I still a number of ?????? still. There is branching, cuz when you beat a lvl it says Route A B and sometimes C, althought I seem to hit the same routes each time .'/ as does my roomie

Well, I think the first branching pathway I found was in level 2. Right after you see the giant worms there is a left/right fork. I'd check the faqs, but I don't want to spoil it yet :)

Hahaha, just for me? XD

I'm going to try again to rent that game next week. It sounds great, all the reviews are so positive, it looks beautiful... Everyone says it is so hard, though. I suck terribly at shooters. Oh well, I definitely want to give it a try. ^_^

Well, they do have difficulty levels for you to scale through, as well as nice tutorials to get into the game with.
