I figured now that the con is over, it's story-sharing time! Did you meet up with any cosplayers from here? Which guests did you meet? Did they live up to your expectations? Were they friendly or snobby? Share, share! Especially those of you who bought tickets to see Elijah and James Marsters!

I met:
Kevin Sorbo (great guy, reminds me of my dad)
Adam Baldwin (he saluted my friend while we were waiting in line)
VG Cats artist (he drew me a little picture and signed it)
RvB Boys (I got footage of them chatting with us, we bought a DVD and a couple shirts and paid frequent visits to their booth to chat)
Jhonen V (got him to sign my Zim shirt)
J. Michael Straczynski (he had noticed me earlier in line and apologized for the wait, which I told him it was fine since I was a dedicated fan)
Kenny Baker (got a pic of him next to R2-D2, such a trooper, that guy ^_^)

I didn't get to see anyone except Laura Baily(she is sooooo sweet! ^^ She loved the drawing I did of Tohru). I really wanted to meet Scott, Rochard, Kirby and Brad though ;_; (I got Brad's autograogh once, but I had made pictures especially for the four of them). The thing is, the schedule for this con was really unorganised. It would've been alot easier to see when their autograph sessions were if they were IN THE SCHEDULE, instead of having to roam the con reading each individule schedule on doors(there was no way I was doing that). Oh well.

Well, I got a chance to talk to the VG cats guy, and then the only other one I made time for was Brad Swaile*^^* SO happy to finally meet him!

I've met Laura Bailey and she's the sweetest person I've ever met *wants to take her home XD* Anyways... I've also kept bumping into her during the convention as well as Scott McNeil. I also saw Chris Sabat who, If I remember right, wasn't suppose to be there ^^;; Correct me if I'm wrong only because I didn't see his name in the booklet.

Alright, let me redefine my use of "celebrity". Will edit first post.

My friends and I saw Scott McNeil like basically Friday and Sunday and then also Kriby (don't know how to spell last name). Though today (Sunday) it took forever too meet them ^^;; But it was fun!

Didn't go much for the celeb thing myself, but ran into some guests and such...

...ran into James Marsters in, um, well, the men's room next to me on Sunday. Once both of us left, I said hi and asked about how the con and the city were treating him. He seemed relaxed and in a good mood - apparently Toronto fans were deserving of their "non-psycho to celebreties" reputation, or at least that was his party line. Anyway, as much as a handshake and thirty seconds of conversation can reveal, he seemed cool.

Comic-wise, I met Jhonen Vasquez, if briefly, since I'm not the sort to wait in line for an autograph. He was really enthusiastic about my costume, though, which was cool - given tales of JV being antsy about some of the aspects of fandom, seeing him actively enthusiastic about the costume was great. I was afraid of a "my god what have I created" reaction, but no such event occured, so that was cool.

Actually, all of the SLG people were great - Dan Vado (the prez) was nice, as were Steve Ahlquist ( Strange Eggs ), Chris Reilly ( Strange Eggs, Punch and Judy) (I talked with those two for a while about everything from movie adaptations to, well, comic books) and James Turner (NIL, Rex Libris) (who's a fellow Torontonian, woohoo!). They were all good folks.

Elsewhere, I chatted with the DC/Indie comic guy Ray Fawkes (Mnemovore, Pink, Spookshow), who I knew was a neat guy already (acquaintance of mine), but I wanted to make sure I mentioned him because he does good work (psychological horror, mature readers, highly recommended) :).

Anyway, I'm not a celeb spotter by trade, but those are some of the guests I talked to, and what I thought of them. Didn't do many of the "big name" ones, but I had good talks with those who were there.

On Friday when I had my Nightcrawler costume on Brad Swaile saw me walk by and flagged me down cause he wanted a pic with me (since Brad was Nightcrawler on Xmen:Evolution)

Although I didn't wear Leonardo this year I did bring one of my Leo katannas and got a bunch of the TMNT comic artists to sign it.

(J Pop) angelia: The concert was great. The shake hand + autograph is a Japanese thing which I like. They are "moe!". I didn't realize until Sunday morning that they are the one that sing the OP of Nadesico. I went crazy finding any Nadesico disc I have, but looks like I either sold it or I lend them to somebody.

(Anime) Nobuyoshi Habara: The first picture I took on Sunday was him. He wore a tie and a suit. Quite formal, in a way you can feel he is serious & professional being a director.

(Sci-Fi) Linda Park: She played with her pony tail several times. She looks so beautiful and cute.

(Sci-Fi) Tim Russ: The room is too small for his Q&A. So they cut it in part A and B. The first half of the line up goes to A(30 mins), the second half goes to B. CN better use bigger rooms next year.

(Sci-Fi)Margot Kidder: She is cheerful. Very funny and interesting giving a lot of behind the scene stories esp. from Superman. When she said Christopher Reeve is the best Superman and nobody can replace him, the whole audience agree by clapping hands to give Reeve a salute.

(Sci-Fi)Kenny Baker: This R2D2 guy is hilarious. He talked the most about everything. Kind of like a grandfather with very interesting stories including his meeting with the Queen and Prince Charles.

(Sci-Fi)Matthew Wood: The moderator took over the first 40 mins and asked his questions. Some people have questions but left early, so their questions can't be answered. A lot of stories from Star Wars. He will fly to Paris on Monday to work on George next film(~10 weeks to finish).

:drink:

I got to meet angela, and I hugged Katsu! It was a very nice experience, to be able to meet them, get an autograph, go to their concert, ask questions, and then hug the guitarist all in one convention. Certainly worth my money. atsuko and KATSU were very polite and seemed extremely happy with everything that happened. (Two friends and I were the only ones yelling/screaming "Motto!" when the concert ended.)

I saw Nobuyoshi Habara at angela's Q&A session, but I did not get the chance to get close enough to take a picture, etc. I'm happy to hear that all the other guests were very nice as well!

Where was angela's Q&A session actually? Is it in the panel room, but I think I went there but it was not angela's. Is it that there is another panel room?

It was in Theatre 3, at 1:00 p.m. The Q&A was also supposed to be with Nobuyoshi Habara, but he just sat in the back and listened (and did a little bit of participation.)

Ouch, I was in Theatre 1 for Durance & Kidder Q&A. So they are next next door. Can't really attend both at the same time I guess.

As far as I knew, he was only there for part of Saturday. I searched on Friday, no luck. Searched early Saturday, found VG Cats booth, bought a t-shirt. I went by the booth later on though and he was gone! It said on his tablecloth though "VG Cats was here" but they weren't back (least that I know of) on Sunday. It was in the middle of the Artist Alley, that's it really.

It said on their website that they only stayed for Friday and Saturday. It's a good thing I spotted them on Saturday 'cause my original plan was to check out the events and take pictures, THEN get autographs on Sunday. :)

I dropped by the VGCats booth earlier on Saturday but there were too many people crowding their table I couldnt buy anything (or get his autograph, lol). Before going to the angela concert (after the Tofu presentation) I rushed to their table to find them gone (damn!). I asked the neighboring booth if I could take the table cloth home with me, but they just shrugged.

Hehe, well I met a bunch of cool people for my first time cosplaying! Just for other cosplayers, I met all the people who were in the Masquerade skit #19, the "Voulez-vous couchez avec moi" one. They were all pretty awesome! I met VG Cats and I gave him my sketchbook. He drew a nice little drawing inside and I was quite happy with that.

alrighty,
I Just have to post about this and I know that it's a little late, but I haven't had internet because i'm still on my huge vacation, which all began with the con. So here goes.
I met ELIJAH WOOD!!!
that was awesome because he said some really nice things to me. He said that my costume was awesome, except for the wig, which I told him was ghetto in the first place. Also, he said quote "billy would be proud" and that my costume was v. accurate and that it was as close to the actual one without having it. he held my pippin scarf and admired it for like 2 seconds. my day was made.
CRISPEN GLOVER
I liked meeting crispen, we talked about his new movie and I asked him about how many rats he touched in willard and also told him that I have 2 rats of my own. He also asked me about my costume.
KEN FOREE
heh, he was just too funny. I got him to sign my devil's rejects poster and told him to put his favorite line from the movie on it. So needless to say, my devil's rejects poster says on it "Alex, ya know you've gat to hustle that pussy baby!"
GUNNAR HANSEN
that was awesome, I told him how much I liked his work in 74' and that he should have been leatherface in the new one.
ELVIRA
I met her but only got a picture. It was neat but we didn't really talk about anything that sticks out in my mind.

I had an awesome weekend. I reconized some people from cosplay.com and am sad that I didn't make it to the picnic, as I was engaged with other things. :-(

I met Laura Bailey during her Q&A. She is by far the most adorable english voice actor I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! She was just so sweet and so cute, I had to restrain myself from glomping her after 5 minutes of meeting her!

I saw Kirby and Scotty again during their autograph signings. Couldn't say much to them then, but I got a picture with them and got a hug from Scotty. I love Scotty's hugs ^^

I met a lot of other cosplayers also from lounging around too, so made new friends ^^

kuko-chan, I took a picture of you i believe, you were ffx yuna right?? anyways, I certainally did get my money's worth, but i should have bought a gold pass. when i was there, I met these 2 other girls that bought the VIP pass for james marsters, then the silver for elijah wood. I was like woah, because that's about well, lets see, 600.00 for james then 119 for elijah that's 719.00 plus tax!!!!! too expancive.

yes, mellowunicorn, i am! see I can't remember screen names, but I do remember avatars! thanks for the comment about my costume. yours was awesome too. both me and my bf thought so.

The only think I really remember is that my friends and I were going down the escalators to wait in line for the masq and Elijah Wood was going up to his signing desk. He looked at us, said "Whoa! Look at those cool costumes!", got out his camera and took a picture. I waved and gave a big smile bwahaha.

I dunno, I'm not a huge psycho about celebrities (even though I think Elijah's an amazing actor), so just seeing him and having that happen made my day, I didn't even have to see him up close. ^_^
