Sorry bout this, I'm new >_>

Anyway, found out about this site through the cosplay panel 101 (got dragged into it by my friend) and since I'm having no luck anywhere, I might as well drop by here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to topic, I was among the hundreds of people who lined up 3 hours prior to the start of the Masquerade. Went in line as soon as we got out of the angela concert and got an autograph (whee, joy!). I'd have to say the masquerade was awesome and worth the $45 by itself. Only problem was, me and my friend were cheap  and parked in Kipling (takes two trains, ~30 mins from Union Station) and had to leave @ 10:40pm before the subways closed. As a result, we had to leave 3/4ths into the Masquerade! Not to mention my friend's digital camera chose the perfect time to go lo-bat and die on us (no pictures from Naruto x Sasuke, Joey x Kaiba; damnation!). We had pretty good seats too: second row, middle, balcony. There were several people there with their vid cams on tripod recording the thing and I was hoping one of them goes to this forum.

Bottomline: If anyone has footage from the Masquerade, then a lot of people (including yours truly) would be eternally grateful to you (by eternal, I mean until next year's Masquerade).

------------------------------------------------------------

I guess this isn't good thread to start with, but this place seems to have a good community and it would be nice to see people you "know" in future cons. To all who participated in the Masquerade, you guys were awesome! Great costumes, hillarious skits, and overall a memorable experience. See you guys at the next one :)

Yeah I was the Naruto in that skit for the Naruto x Sasuke, Joey x Kaiba and a couple of my friends video taped it on their camera so they should be able to post it online for everyone to see.

Edit: Though I don't know how long it will be before they will post them.

I'll probably have them organized into like 6 different yousendit files and posted by Mon night at the latest... I have one of the vids of our skit, and a few others... my cam can;t hold high qulaity vids for very long though, so we couldn't record much of the masq at all..

I would LOVE to see my skit! My group was Snaf Emina, doing Random Fandom dancing! lol

Truth from the audience, I was told we got a standing ovation from some of the audience. I just wanted to know if that was true, or my friend was making it up to make us look better. lol ^^;

It's difficult finding video of the masquerade as Canadian Idol severly discourages people from filming in thier venue.

What has Canadian Idol got to do with the Masquerade?

Furthermore, it's not a matter of finding the video as it is finding the people with the video. There were no less than 3 Vidcams on a tripod on the balcony. But then again, 3 people out of the thousand in that theater >_>

I'm also pretty sure people disregarded all notices stating otherwise.

MC: Still taking flash photography?
Audience: YAAAAAAAAAA

Also funny how the AExpo staff had to crouch around during the beginning of the angela concert to tell people to turn their cameras off.

The masquerade is filmed on the Canadian Idol stage.

The masquerade is held in the Canadian Idol Venue, and Idol is VERY protective of anything remotely related to thier image, (wether the logo is covered or not is irrelivant).

Two years ago they confiscated video cameras from several people, and made them sign waivers. The charge for infringing thier copyright under this minor violation is $10,000.

This happend while I was director so I have first hand knowledge of it.

I don't argee with it, but it is what it is and I'd like to protect the costuming/costume fan community as much as possible. That is why I'm sharing the details to advise caution. That being said, I as much as anyone else would love to be able to have videography of these shows for my archive.

Cheers!

Cheers!

Canadian Idol scared everyone away ... I still have only seen half the video for CN2003 (which I saddly missed), and have never heard of a video for last year's show. I know copies exist, but no one seems to want to share them, and I'm sure Canadian Idol prefers it that way. :sulk:

Well, I videotaped the whole show....But i did an extremely bad job of it because I had no tripod and kept shaking it a lot >_< also, a lot of the MC's jokes were missed because of my camera's bad audio, which is a bummer. I'd love to share it, if not for fear of Canadian Idol and the bad overall quality of my tape -_-
