View Full Version : Cosplay Dinner

09-12-2005, 02:21 PM
I just got the cutsest idea from a friend of mine on cosplay.com.

They told me that they're arrainging a dinner (not in Toronto, sorry people) where all the guests have to come in cosplay, AND be compleetly in character the WHOLE NIGHT!

Now, personally speaking, i dunno if i would be able to keep it up the whole night - nor do i know whether or not i would want to, BUT i did think the idea was adorible - espechially out in a public restaurante.

So my questions to you now is:

A. What do u think about that idea? Going to a restaurante in costume and acting in character the whole night.

B. Is anyone interested in seriously doing this?

My friends would think it's the lamest thing ever, but i think its a cute idea and worth at least posting about, so, what do u guys think?

09-12-2005, 02:26 PM
Haha, I'd do it, as hard as it'd be, and it'd be fun. But I don't think I'd be able to stay in character all night, not because I wouldn't want to, but because it's just not gonna happen, lol.

And what restaurant would be able to accomodate at least 20 people? It's hard to get one, unless you find a really big one and reserve way ahead... Like a Mandarin or something...

And then there's the issue of people getting their costume dirty. I personally am not that strict about going to restaurants with costumes, but some people are.

09-12-2005, 04:01 PM
Well, im sure if we did plan something, we'd know the date ahead of time, so that everyone could make sure that they are free that night. Plus that their costumes are ready on time.

As for getting ones costume dirty, well, I wouldnt want to do anything that is open buffet. I'm a huge clutz. I don't think anyone will get their costume dirty *knocks on wood* I think being in costume, people would be extra careful, and besides, how often do u spill food all over urself anyways? Haha!

I was talking to a friend of mine who was telling me that they know a restaurant that is actually themed this way, so i don't think therestaurante would mind - besides, i'm sure that so long as nobody brings in any dangerous props, the restaurants wouldnt really care. I think their staff would get a laugh out of it ;).

So, anyone else interested?

LOL that's such a cute idea, I think I'd be up for that if I was given enough notice and providing it was close enough that I could bus it. Still, would be fun, though staying in character -all- night? Hmmm hard, but I'd still like to try it

09-12-2005, 04:09 PM
I know, it could be difficult to stay in character the whole night... hmm... maybe we should have a prize for whoever stays in character the longest? Haha!

09-12-2005, 04:14 PM
My friends and I do that at AN every year, though not of us are all in costume. Every sunday evening at AN, we all get together at Kelsey's. We usually end up with a lot more people than we expected, just because our group always grows by sunday ^^

09-12-2005, 04:36 PM
wow, sounds like a great idea! i'd love to role play like that. and during a dinner thing too. i bet the restaurant would get a lot of publicity that way, hehe.

09-12-2005, 07:02 PM
A) Sounds good to me. I'm sure we'd scare the waiters and other diners a little, but as long as no one takes it too out of hand (no getting on the tables and dancing or snarling...), it would be quite fun.

B) I'd do it. ^^

09-12-2005, 07:17 PM
I'd LOVE to do that!! That'd be SO much fun!! *^^* I mean, I don't know what costume I'd bring (I'd use Tasuki but I'm not legal drinking age, so that takes away from the character, not being able to drink >< Maybe Yuzuki if I can get the right wig, or maybe a new one) but long as I had enough notice, I think it'd be great!!

09-12-2005, 07:31 PM
I'd use Tasuki but I'm not legal drinking age, so that takes away from the character, not being able to drink ><
Teehee, I lurvs you Sodina. I'm very much interested, just wondering....where exactly would this be? Because I live out here in Hamilton and transportation could be a very large issue.
BUT, if I can find a way there, I would be so up for it! (I've had to do the staying-in-character thing during a long dinner, it IS really tough, but when you actually do it, it's so fun! I guess drama class was good for something lol. Although I suppose someone like Chichiri or Aeris would be easier than Mike Myers :P)

09-13-2005, 10:04 AM
Whoot! Wherever Ancient Wanderer goes, I go! If its far enough in advance, maybe I'll have my Tohru costume done! I can SO stay in character!

09-13-2005, 10:15 AM
haha WOW! I really wasn't expecting such a POSITIVE responce from people! Haha!
After this, i think we should actually HAVE a cosplay Dinner night!!!

Here's a cupple of new questions: (but for NEW posters, please do answer our last 2 questions: A. What do u think about that idea? Going to a restaurante in costume and acting in character the whole night.

B. Is anyone interested in seriously doing this?)

C: Should we make a rule that the cosplays have to LOOK like cosplays (so that we stand out more)? (ie. No costumes that will make u look normal infront of the other customers, leaving only one or 2 cosplayers in crazy outfits making them alone look like freaks - we want a WHOLE TABLE of freaks here people! :p Haha!)

D: Can anyone here make any suggestions on where would be a good location? Date?

Feel free to post your oppinions. None of this has been written in store yet, so don't worry about committing yourself to any plans yet. :) if the dinner looks possible, n if everybody wants to, then we'll go for it! ;)

09-13-2005, 04:58 PM
C) I"m kinda up for that *laughz* Just cause at CNA I went out to lunch at Caseys with Anime North Junkies, 4 of us were in costume, however they toned down their costumes in the end and I was the one left sticking out MAJORLY ^^" (It would've been too much of a hassle to have removed my wig) Though it was greatly entertaining (and the waiter said he was crazy so he found it all great), I think it'd just be more fun if we had everyone in something that really stands out. Or at least most people... then again, depending on how soon this is, people might be pulling together costumes quickly so ^^" I don't know, I think it'd be FUN to have everyone in crazy costumes, but also take into consideration we most likely can't bring props or anything really big, so ^^" I don't know... guess it's really going to have to depend on the costume!

D) Date wise, give everyone at LEAST a month, I think, of prep time. As for place... I really don't know, heh. Something affordable and has space would be good ^^" But I live in Milton, a town with not much of anything, so since I don't know the other towns very well, I can't say what's available.

I have a question: Are we going to do a reservation once we figure out the place and try to get maybe a separate room, or a big table, or should we just group up ourselves and have like, 5 different tables of four around the whole restaurant? I guess that's more of a question to figure out once we know where we're going, but I just thought of that ^^"

Quote--A. What do u think about that idea? Going to a restaurante in costume and acting in character the whole night.---Quote
Actually, sounds like a fun idea, its something I never done before. This may turn out to be quite a challenge beside I always wanted to act like the character I'm cosplaying.

Quote--->B. Is anyone interested in seriously doing this?<-----Quote
I'm up for the idea, just name the place, time and day. I'll try my best to make it but who to cosplay hum......[ Which CLAMP characters should I go as hum....this will be hard to decide as well as acting like them.]

Haha!)

I don't mind, but most of my cosplay characters outfits wear normal clothes...[Subaru all black with short red coat & tophat with red ribbon. Or Hojo who wears a Labcoat or Seishiro wearing a black suit witha black long coat & sun glasses....Unless I can get Seishiro from TRC ready, he'll have a white robe.]

D: Quote---->Can anyone here make any suggestions on where would be a good location? Date?Quote<----

I say a place in downtwon where its not too expensive for everyone.....maybe resturant in china twon or queen street? [Plus if anyone needs to do shopping before dinner, stores will be around the corner.] As for date wise how about sometime in NOV or DEC? I only say DEC cause DTAC is in december and ppl could meet up at the convention and after word dinner. Or if its not too cold, maybe we all could meet up for skating [I remember last year cosplay skating event] and then head for dinner & shopping. As for NOV, is the same only with Con No Baka convention since its near by so many resturant. Yet again, it wouldn't be a good day cause there may be cosplayers not attending this con. Well in either cases these are my words and I hope they help.

09-13-2005, 07:38 PM
C: well, not everyone may have a costume that particulary stands out. so in a short amount of time, they might not be able to make something like that. so i think we should give people a choice. besides, i'm sure most people that have more "out-there" costumes would want to wear them anyways rite? XD

D: for the date, i think you'll need to hear more response and maybe after halloween...cuz that's when everyone will probably for sure have a costumes done. for where, i think a place where everyone can get to. like downtown toronto. somewhere easily accessible and easy to find with rooms to reserve

09-14-2005, 01:37 PM
too badf anyone does not live in my town or near it.....snif!snif!
its awfull for me to live soooo far from everyone here..............

i have no friend...to talk about anime ....exept here......but its not all the same.....

well anyway sound a good idee for all of whos can go with you.....

have fun for me too ok
see ya

09-14-2005, 01:45 PM
EEE! I'de totally be up for an in-character dinner. If people don't object to downtown, there's this HUGE dim-sum place on Spadina that might work...although they may just do lunch...hmmm, wow, I could spend a whole meal unabashedly looking at pretty boys since I could go as Muraki from Yami no Matsuei!! I really hope this comes through, but yeah, give people a month or so notice before hand.

09-15-2005, 02:05 AM
lol im in, this sounds like a fun idea, and it gives me a reason to pull my vash costume out of retirement for an evening

09-15-2005, 11:06 AM
see this is why we need more cosplayers in the maritimes. I'm actually holding one (a cosplay dinner) at animaritime. If you guys have one before then, please, let me know about it. like all the pros and cons of it.
Anyways, if any of you are intrested in coming to the animaritime one, I mean drop by. It's in sackville, NB. It's a fairly new con, in it's 3rd year. But it's Craploads of fun!!! I am seirous, C-R-A-P-L-O-A-D-S! anyways, the addy is: http://animaritime.mtaanime.org/
on the forums i'm almsays_dreams. so if your going to be in the area and want to have some great fun and come to the dinner. Plz stop by.

09-15-2005, 08:37 PM
Wee~ I'm in for it. But I don't think I can keep in character the entire night lol. This should be fun ^-^

09-15-2005, 10:18 PM
This be fun...question is, who to bring. It be awesome to know who went as what now, to maybe play suite to another or group cosplay =D

Alexia Ishtar
09-15-2005, 10:20 PM
It would certainly give me motivation to fix up my Lulu costume

09-16-2005, 08:56 AM
maybe setting a date and a time would not be a bad idea....

09-16-2005, 09:33 AM
^-^ If I can't do Tohru in time, then I'll go as InuYasha again, because Inu=love! Um, if its after D-TAC, then I'll be able to bring friends..maybe, seeing as its after the madness of Con no Baka. So maybe not then. Hrmm....O_O'' eehn! I don't know...

09-16-2005, 11:05 AM
I need to find out when I have to make my next tuition payment is, because if I have to pay for the bus and the dinner, then it might sway my decision. Still must decide on a costume as well....craziness!

As for really out-there costumes, if somebody has a cosplay with relatively normal clothes, I think that's fine as long as they still attempt to stay in character. Personalities are definitely insane enough to get noticed.

09-16-2005, 03:08 PM
Now that I think of it, I've been thinking of pulling together a Ryuichi Sakuma concert costume for awhile now ^^" I might do that, including making Kumagoro, heh. That'd definately been an interesting personality to stay in. So, depending on how far ahead this is, I might pull that off. Then again, it might be considered too plain, either way, I'm still unsure as to what I"m going to do ^^"

Now, how much time does everyone estimate they'll need for costumes, money, and such? I mean, a month is good enough for me, so I'd be good for mid to late October. How about everyone else? If we can get everyone to try to answer this, then I think we can figure out when abouts we can plan to have this dinner.

Alexia Ishtar
09-16-2005, 07:10 PM
October is no good for me ~_~ November would be better, since I'm already trying to skimp money for a costume and bus fare down and home from toronto for that photoshoot.

Also, I was just thinking, when we decided on a location do you think we should maybe warn the restaurant or at least ask if it would be allowed?

09-16-2005, 07:32 PM
if someone could cosplay kyou, then i would definitely pull my kagura costume out of retirement for this ^_^ that would for sure make for an interesting dinner

09-16-2005, 08:10 PM

09-16-2005, 10:49 PM
Yay! More FruBa! Eeerg! I wanna be Tohru so bad! I don't get paid till next week! And I need to buy shoes! I have no shoes people! None! I'm using my moms old sneakers! Aaaaah! The insanity!
I'll either TRY and scrounge around Value village for a makeshift Tohru, but if that don't work, then I'll have to do it from a pattern. -_-' Oh well...more sewing experience. I suck at making skirts...hafta find one where I DON'T need to sew in elastic...I suck so bad....oii! I'll get better.
So yeah...cosplay rantage, heh heh. ^^'

09-16-2005, 11:11 PM
brita:isn't tohru's skirt pleated? wouldn't it b hard to put in an elastic for that?

fox.boy: you would wear your kyou? yay ^_^

Yami Rurouni
09-17-2005, 12:59 PM
i'd do it, seems like a fun idea! but i would need to know a date and time, before i can really confirm anything ^^

09-17-2005, 01:22 PM
I'm thinking about wearing my Mew Ichigo costume for this dinner. It's something i miss wearing, and definatly feel like breaking out of the closet. Plus the pink poofyness of it all is definatly eye catching! haha!

Hmm... we'll see :)

09-17-2005, 10:30 PM
brita:isn't tohru's skirt pleated? wouldn't it b hard to put in an elastic for that?

fox.boy: you would wear your kyou? yay ^_^

Yea, I wasn't plannin on usin elastic...just recalling last attempt at another skirt I tried to make *shudders*

09-19-2005, 08:51 PM
ahh, hehe

09-20-2005, 11:19 AM
A. It would be a delightful idea! I only wish I had some new costumes for characters with DISTINCT personalities. I've only got 4 right now: Oruha (Clover), Female Ranma, Anthy (Utena), and Misaki (Angelic Layer).

B. Again, if I can make a brand new costume for a character with a very unique and easy-to-roleplay personality, I'm in for sure!

C. To be honest, I think there should be a rule for extravagant costumes only, simply because they would stand out more and the looks from the "norms" would be fantastic!

D. I'm thinking something along the lines of a Chinese resturant, like Mandarin. For dates, I'm not too sure. I can't do October (since I might be starting work then) and November might be booked with all the little events happening (Con no Baka, Science Centre event). But don't consider just my opinion. Maybe what you could do is combine your event with the Science Centre event (after a full day at the Science Centre, we could go to a nearby resturant!).

09-20-2005, 02:07 PM
Couldn't agree with u more Kuko-Chan ;)

09-20-2005, 02:55 PM
A. What do u think about that idea? HA!!! I LOVE that!!!

B.Going to a restaurante in costume and acting in character the whole night. Oooh..That may be hard...I'd better go as someone who's clumsy, and eats alot, but i'd try my best

B. Is anyone interested in seriously doing this?) I would if I had time, and a costume...oh yeah it'll need to be some where kinda close to me...S.F. CA

:p Haha!) Hmmm...depends if you just mean weird clothes or like, contacts and the same face structure and height n stuff like that..

D: Can anyone here make any suggestions on where would be a good location? Date?Ohhh! Ohhh!...somewhere in california!!!

 :bigtu:

09-20-2005, 02:58 PM
Ohhh!!! oh yeah, do it during winter break or summer!!!...oh yeah would mad hatter be "wierd enough...I mean she's got the seroius make up and all...how about if I give her wings or she could be wearing a mini in winter...errr...maybe not.

09-20-2005, 03:03 PM
Whoops...when i hit the New Posts button, i didn't realize this post was for canada...::thumbsup: I'm a whole country away!!!!:waaaah:

09-20-2005, 03:43 PM
HAHA! That's ok Pheonix, its still great to see the enthusiasim :)

09-21-2005, 04:29 PM
hmm depends on where but if I can come

does ban-hair count as freaky?

(edit* CRAP forgot I had a hair cut...)

09-22-2005, 09:45 AM
*sniffy* Does this mean that wearing my Tohru is too normal? .-_-. Thats very sad, but if its too normal, or there seem to be too few crazy ones, than I will wear my InuYasha costume. I can roleplay both pretty well, I'll just have to have more restraint when wearing InuYasha.

09-22-2005, 04:23 PM
Well, personally speaking, i would like to see everyone in really anime looking costumes. Nothing that is normal clothes, like "jeans and a t shirt" being passed off as cosplay. To me, that kinda defetes the perpose of having a "cosplay dinner". Might as well have a normaly clothed anime fans get together if people are going to come dressed like that.
But, i wouldn't want to make anyone feel discouraged about coming.
So far, there is no set date on when we might have this dinner, so, theres plenty of opportunity for people to make a new costume - should they feel like they have to.

09-22-2005, 05:11 PM
Oh I really wanna come now! I'm seriously considering making my Rosette Christopher costume for this! ^^ It would definately stand out (bright blue nun) and it'd be easy to imitate her wild personality!

09-22-2005, 06:25 PM
yea i am most definatly pulling vash out of retirement for this one, gonna have to bleach my hair though. but it will most definatly rock the socks

09-23-2005, 02:26 AM
This is gunna be so awesome!!!

Hmm.... i wonder which costume I should reware.....hmmm....

What do u guys think?

Meroko - Full Moon WO Sagashite
Mew Ichigo - Tokyo Mew Mew
Lust - Full Metal Alchemist (this one would b better if my frien cosplayes as Scar - but i'd only have one hand because of the long fingers :P makes it harder to wat with)
Pfil - bondage fairies - (probubly not appropriate for a family restaurante :p hahaha!)

Im thinking Mew Ichigo. I miss the poffey pink skirt! haha!

09-23-2005, 09:10 AM
I think you should go with your Full Moon outfit, since it's so bright! :) Horray for pink hair!

09-24-2005, 06:27 AM
HAHA! My hair actually IS the right shade of pink for that costume right now too! Haha! So that's a good idea! thanx! :)

I just got a pm from a member asking me WHERE we plan on holding this dinner.
I feel its a very fair question, so i'm going to post my responce in here for everyone :)

I'm honnestly not sure where the cosplay dinner could be just yet. I have been swamped with tones of other projects n have barely had time to breath! haha!

But, i would guess that the cosplay dinner would be held somewhere downtown, seeing as how it has to be at a location which is accessable to EVERYONE.

To me, Downtown sounds like the fairest place. Everyone can gain access to it, and it seems to be a fair middle ground - plus theres tones of places to choose from down there.

I for one, do not drive, so going downtown is great, because there is so much transit.

I hope that helps :)

09-24-2005, 09:37 AM
A) Love the idea!
B) Totally willing to go for it.
C) Forgot the rest of the questions...

Umm.. but.. ya!! With enough notice I should be able to make it!
These things for better for me if they are on a weekend when I am already down in the area (Because I live 2 hours away from Toronto! ) So... A weekend like... Halloween, because I'm here for the photoshoot, or maybe the weekend of Nov. 19th because of the science centre trip.
I mean, don't let ME be the deciding factor on date or anything, because I understand if people can't handle the cost of two events a weekend (I hardly know if I even can ^^; ) But thats whats good for me in dates...

Place... I really couldn't care less.

Thinkin' about personalities, it'd make me laugh greatly if someone can as one of those characters that totally INHALE their food and then actually did during dinner. lol ^^;;

09-24-2005, 07:39 PM
I was actually thinking about doing it the same day as the science centre trip, Just because, hey, theres gunna b a lot of us in costume, and we DO need to eat, u know? :p

09-24-2005, 11:57 PM
hey, i want you itachi, you wanna see me pack it away like vash? oh....you got it, i wonder if i can put the beer back like he does, i mean seriously, that guy can drink better then i can, and im irish

09-25-2005, 12:06 AM
Same day? BRILLIANT! That really is extremely brilliant. I can up my chances of going by 20% now! ^^

Ya, but like... you're not even legal age yet, are you?

09-25-2005, 01:36 PM
I'm legal age, but I don't drink. ^^' Not that it matters.

19th of November? darn, I was hoping it'd be more like Halloween weekend, but okay. This may lessen my chances, due to the fact its near the Con no Baka date, but that dun mean I ain't goin'. Time will tell.

Same day? BRILLIANT! That really is extremely brilliant. I can up my chances of going by 20% now! ^^

If you don't mind me asking, where about do you live??

09-25-2005, 06:11 PM
Gah, I need a map of where the Science Centre is (I've been there at least 7 times throughout my school-life but I can't remember where it is). Anyhow, assuming I go to the SC event, I'll definately try and make this event. It all depends on my money situation. :S

09-26-2005, 03:36 AM
Im in the same boat Kuko chan. But im sure we can find directions online. Does the science centre have a website? im sure it does.

09-27-2005, 02:31 PM
wahhh i want to eat!! and party with your!!! *sniffs sniffs and run away crying*

09-29-2005, 12:14 AM
Have people cosplayed at the science centre before? What exactly happens there? I haven't been there since I was a child, let alone cosplayed there. What madness would ensue?

I am looking forward to our dinner plans fellow cosplayers. ^^ My next project is in fact Tohru's costume (if you don't mind my wearing it) as well as working on InuYasha's new (3rd) wig. So shiny...^^ *glee*

09-29-2005, 06:45 AM
We had a science centre trip last fall. Some of the crazy things I remember are...
-EVERYONE getting on that crazy bridge and seeing how much we could bend it...
-having wheelchair races
-one on one battles on the balance beam
-harassing the guy sitting at this booth because he didn't like anime
-lots of other things I can't remember at the moment...
.... my friend Jesse trying to jump to little wooden gate blocking the bridge and having it swing open on him at the last second, only to be totally ass raped by it... wow did that look painful...

It was lots of fun ^^ I'm looking forward to this year.

09-29-2005, 09:17 AM
alldepends on what costume im wearing at the time, hell when i went to a restaraunt dressed as agent 47 *black suit white shirt red tie, bald head* the guy asked me if i wanted to see a wine list......so yea i could prolly manage something

10-03-2005, 08:06 AM
Hey guys, I'm not so sure that i can make it to the science centre anymore, so if i can't make it just go on ahead with the dinner without me if you want. I won't mind :)

10-03-2005, 11:33 PM
Aw..but wasn't it you who started it? Thats so sad! ;_; Well, I hope that it works out for you. I'd like to see that you come. ^^

10-04-2005, 02:03 PM
Aww, why can't you come? o.o It won't be the same without you!

10-04-2005, 05:35 PM
I'm not sure if i'm going to be able to get down to the science centre :(

I don't drive, and where i live there aren't any busses on the weekends - and none of our busses EVER take you to the subways!

Unless i find a ride, i won't be able to make it! :(
But don't worry, i'm definatly looking for one! :)

10-05-2005, 09:28 PM
oh dear... I just realized the dance was on the same night as this cosplay dinner.. > _< arghhhhhhh I can't go to the cosplay dinner. Sorry.

10-05-2005, 10:01 PM
I believe now would be a good time for us to talk about a different day maybe. A day we'll have more responce to.

Just some quick suggestions off the top of my head...
-Sunday of Con No Baka, go for an early dinner then or something
- I am planning a cosplay bowling thing in Brampton on Dec 3rd, (Same as last year of anyone who went, just a different person planning... hopefully) Why not a lunch day here? Or, if I do cosmic bowling, which I assume starts later, a dinner.

Just ideas...

10-06-2005, 09:48 AM
Good idea, Iwantyouitachi... if it's ok with everyone, it might be better to switch the day cause it's now conflicting with the dance, I don't know though ^^" Depends on what everyone else wants.

Those two ideas are great so far, there's also after DTAC on Dec. 4th, cause I think last year it closed around 5 anyways. What does everyone else think? Same date or switch date?

10-06-2005, 10:38 AM
I have no problems with switching the date

10-06-2005, 11:21 PM
I'd love it to be after DecTac! ^^ That'd be cool! But Con no Baka may be better too. I'm up for either.

10-07-2005, 07:33 AM
I'm just curious, it seems like people would prefer it later - when the weather is much colder. Is this the general consensus or should we just put off this dinner all together untill spring???

10-07-2005, 12:43 PM
i'm totally up for after d-tac. it'll b downtown anyways

Everyone always leaves everything always till spring or summer!!

I vote for DTAC....DTAC isn't a whole day thing and its close to ALOT of eateree's!!! Plus! theres never any events in the winter * loves winter*

Thsi way we can crowd a restuarant and all get warm together**snuggles*

Btw, we didn't mean for the dance to be on the same day...it was the only date left....gomen gomen gomen!!

10-07-2005, 08:07 PM
It's alright, really :)
We'll hold the dinner for whenever it is most convienient for everyone :) that was the origional plan anyways :)

10-10-2005, 10:22 PM
I vote for Con no Baka, seeing as it's at the Doubletree and from what I heard, there's a Kelsey's or Swiss Chalet or something nearby. Then there's the Sushi place next door. ^__^ One time I went in there, they were playing the Kill Bill soundtrack and I was so tempted to ask the waiter if Hattori Hanzo was available! XD

10-11-2005, 07:10 AM
I dont think i'm going to con no baka, but feel free to hold the dinner without me - i really won't mind, so long as everyone has a good time :)

10-11-2005, 09:47 AM
Poor, poor Tribal! Nothing seems to work out for you. .-_-. *sniff*

10-11-2005, 07:15 PM
So it seems to be either Con no Baka or DTAC as being the new time for the dinner. CnB seems to have more restaurants around it, while DTAC would require some searching for a restaurant (less anyone knows of a good place to go right now?).

Any more opinions on this? DTAC seems to be winning vote-wise. Keep in mind that CNB has more options for food though.

10-11-2005, 10:08 PM
Brita has no preference. Brita ish planning to go to both cons. Brita likes food. ^^

10-11-2005, 11:52 PM
I'll be at both too!!! And I also like food. Either is fine for me..

10-12-2005, 07:01 AM
Otaking, i missed u!

I'm up for either Con for the dinner. Yeah, as they said Con No Baka has more food options then DTEC. Heck, we can always have the cosplay dinner at both cons too. [We just need to arrange a meeting time that's all.] Dam, sorry to hear you can't make it Tribal, hopefully you'll be able to come to one.

10-12-2005, 12:18 PM
I'm definitely not going to Con no Baka because of exams, but I'm possibly going to DTAC....not sure yet. So I don't know if I can go to the dinner anymore :(

I was thinking about that too... what if we did a dinner at both Con no Baka AND D-TAC? I mean, it'd make sense out of the fact that there isn't one time where everyone's available, so maybe two will be better.

So if we do two, which day during Con no Baka would be best though?

On the day of Con No Baka, I was thinking maybe Friday or Saturday, which ever day everyone can make it for. This will be a very interesting to watch.

10-12-2005, 11:38 PM
^_^ *imitates Sodina's dating voice from Thousand Arms* I'm so excited!

10-13-2005, 09:18 AM
If i can get my friends to come to CnB, then i might go too. I'd really like to participate in that Chess board idea (from another thread) if i could, and it would be great to go to the very first show of a con :)

I'll try :)

10-13-2005, 05:42 PM
I'm only Going on Sat. So Sat would be best for me at least.

10-25-2005, 03:25 PM
Alright, after having no replies to this for a few days, I'm going to try to get it active again ^^"

So, Con no Baka- Saturday is logically the best day to do this. What time and where should we meet?

As for D-Tac- What time and where should we meet?

10-25-2005, 03:46 PM
Its up to you guys :) i still am not sure whether or not i can make it to Con no baka :(

10-25-2005, 03:59 PM
if the dinner is going to be held through Con no Baka weekend i can probably make it. it's depending when though ^^;; like timewise

10-25-2005, 04:54 PM
Where to meet? Not sure. Foyer maybe? What time though? 6ish?

11-20-2005, 09:55 AM
*finally thinks she can make it again after being grounded for a month*
When considering a time for the dinner, (Saturday is still a good day) it might be helpful to think about the masq. I don't know if any of you people are planning on going to/in it, so I don't know if it affects it, but either way, just bringing it up.

My sister and I have decided we might just make it to No Baka, so if we do I'll totally be there for the dinner! I likely won't be in costume... because I just want to go and relax at this con, but I'll be there! ^^ I'll... put on a hat or something. lol. Make myself... yup.. nevermind... lol... <.< >.> Going...

11-20-2005, 01:23 PM
I'm up for 6 ish. Foyey is easiest to find. The con don't got a masq (just a play room, but I am SO there to do a skit! >_> plans...bwahahahaha). Mmm....food.

Con no Baka dinner I shall attend, but not the DTAC one, cause I gots work that day (but I may show up in the day time for the TAC..).

11-20-2005, 04:39 PM
Yeah there is no actual Masq so I have no idea if there is anything happening specially at 6ish. Since the cosplay plays are like all day.

11-22-2005, 12:01 AM
For sake of I,

Dtac would be awesome for me.

11-22-2005, 07:42 AM
DTac maybe not so cool for me. (don't know if I'm working)

11-22-2005, 09:30 AM
I'm not doing DTac this year, I'm using Con no Baka to do my christmas shopping ^^" Seriously, I think that was the only reason I went to DTac last year *laughz* So 6pm, front foyer then? Should be there!! Going to be in quidditch robes but whatever. It works ;)

If I can make, I'll try my best to join you guys. Have anyone decided on a place to eat at? I'm just wondering and also, are we going to act just like our character were cosplaying at dinner or were just going be our self? I was just wondering and I hope to see u guys there. Also, I hope the weather is not to cold tomorrow, I wouldn't mind taking pics of my cosplay in the winter where its snowing and beside a tree. [I'm refering to my Seishiro Sakurazuka cosplay with his black bird, not my Shifuku outfit [the white Hakama outfit] for my Subaru cosplay.] Anyway, hope to see everyone there.

12-03-2005, 03:42 PM
ok, so, cosplay dinner for CnB was a complete failer as far as I know, unless some of you actually met and went out some where...

So... There was talk of DTac dinner? Anyone have any intention fo doing this?
Seeing as there is no where cheap we can really go (Unless I don't know about that too) I was thinking it would be almost as good to just buy a hotdog or something from that hotdog stand outside (assume its still there) and just sit as a group and talk... and eat.. and.. whatever... <.< I dunno...

Casey's at York and Front - across from Union Station and kitty-corner to the Royal York - is a decent place. Meals will run about $18-20. I know about this place because this is where I've been making reservations for the ANJ lunch/dinner at these events for the last two years.

I'm rather busy, birthday lunch for my sister and then up at the DT for TT department head meetings later in the afternoon, but if I do show up it'll just be to see about dropping off TT flyers early and then getting out. (That is, unless someone else from TT is planning on doing so and hasn't told me yet. ^_^;)

12-03-2005, 06:48 PM
Well, if people want to go there thats alright with me, I just won't eat, or.. go... Because $18-20 is all my money I have from now until christmas, and if I go I'm going to have to take the subway home ^^;;

12-03-2005, 09:12 PM
I'm not going to be at Dtac, but please, everyone please still feel free to go do the dinner. I'll be very happy to hear that you all enjoyed yoruselves! :)

12-05-2005, 08:32 AM
So, how did the cosplay dinner go???
Everybody enjoy themselves and have a great time???

When I woke up this morning, I was thinking, wouldn’t it be so cute if (being in the Christmas season and all) cosplayers made Christmas versions of their cosplays??? You know, their characters, but just dressed up for the Christmas season?
Like…Mrs. Clause Chii, or Elf Sasuke, or Santa Gluttony???
Then we could all go out for dinner one evening dressed up like THAT! Haha!

I dunno, maybe I’m wrong, but I thought that’d be adorable! :p

12-05-2005, 10:03 AM
LOLZ, Actually, DTAC last year I added tinsel to my Chloe costume (the cloak was already green and red, it was just asking for it) and went as Christmas Chloe ^^" I found it entertaining, lolz...

12-05-2005, 04:10 PM
I am not aware of any cosplay dinner happening at any con in the last 2 weeks.

I was looking around for people at 6 at CnB for the dinner but what also happened at 6 ruined those plans (cancellation was announced).

DTAC I was not aware of one......
