now, i'm not talking about good games that got alotta publicity and whatnot... we're talkin about obscure games that were so fuckin good that u would literally go into ballistics trying to get everyone to play it.

for me, one game comes to mind: Rock N' Roll racing for the SNES!!!

BORN TO BE WILD!!!

Hmmn.. I'd say Rhapsody, Persona and the Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

Anarchy Online - for all its technical quirks is still the best MMO out there right now.

And when it first came out Xenogears.

Final dungeon in the good ending or bad ending? I gave up when Maki and Naioa have to go into the cave alone. TOO HARD!! ;_; Suddenly Maki//Mary was useless, when 5 minutes before she was whomping demons.

OH! I forgot Wild Arms!! 1 and 2.. haven't played 3 yet. And Suikoden, which I guess isn't as obscure as I thought it was.

the good ending dungeon. as for the Mary and Main chara being alone in the dungeon.... oh yeah!! i remember that dungeon!!! the dungeon where like.. u have to recall everything u've done form the very beggining of the game and u fight yourself. yeah... that dungeon was pretty hard tho'... but the dungeon on the "final world" was really hard... very freakin tricky.. it had a buncha black spots to which u couldn't see where u were going and a buncha pitfalls too.. it was just freakin hard.... and it was such a hassle to get Chris in the beggining of the game... O_o

oh yeah and do u know that in Persona.. like... in the screen where it displays the name "Atlus" when u load up the game, if u kept on shaking your PSX and make it skip alot during that sequence that u'll get this really odd scene of broken glass particles coming together to form a mirror.. i though that was really odd... O_o

Great obscure games? Any Romance of the Three Kingdoms game. :bigtu:

Not sure really how obscure it is, but the Carmageddon series. They got media attention for their violence, but I don't think many people played them. People think I'm nuts when I laugh at them for playing their wussy Grand Theft Auto. In the gaming world, GTA is Mother Theresa and Carmageddon is the Anti-Christ. I swear I'd be in jail for homocide if it weren't for that game.

in my area I'm one of the few people who played the WA games in order.. then again in my area I can count on one hand the number of people who played a FF game before 7 but let's not go there...

The Star Wars triology for SNES. I have never met anyone who's beaten all three of them other than myself. I love those games :)

lmao, I remember buying that game awhile back when it first came out and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. PILEDRIVER BONUS!!! (so utterly satisfying). That game was definitely more offensive than GTA without a shadow of a doubt. Just the fact that you could drive by churches and other pleasantly populated areas and tear through everyone! :D

I remember the game was ported to N64 a few years after it came out and they censored it. Instead of using real people, nintendo made them "zombies". Now what's the fun in killing something that's already dead!? ;)

For me, it's Zone Of the Enders. It's a great game, great engine, but it's given a bad rap.

Cyborg Justice. Anyone who takes time a little time to figure out teh controls ( it's a lot easier then mastering MK, but people playing MK hates this game for some reason) will find this game widely amusing. Where else can you steal other' people's body parts and use them for your own? :D

Tales of Phantasia. It's often ranked below Chrono Trigger. Why?

Earthbound. There's something about an RPG that involves "magic cake" (you all know what "magic" I'm talking about. ;) ) where you can actually order a pizza.

Heroes of Might and Magic 1-4 on PC
Monkey Island 1-4 on PC

I've always recommended and shown these games too ppl

which are obsure enough that alot of ppl never heard of them, but good enuff that they made alot of sequels :D

Obscure Game.. Hmm
Well nothing on Game Console is that obscure.

I use to have a lot of fun watching my mom play D&D2 game for intelevision. I was scared of it though :(

But really... Prolly some PC games.
Xanth based on the Demons Don't dream book. Have some fond memories of that game, was eating a caramel apple at the time :D

Also Legend of Kyrandia... Crazy Jester.
Stupid dragon cave with the stupid berries..
But it was a lot of fun too.

Would love to play some of the Kings quest again, like the princeless Bride.

Some console Contenders (but not that obscure)
ShadowGate
Lagoon
Shadow Hearts
Seikan dentetsu 3
Puzzle Fighter
Tokimeki Momorial (photo game and puzzle game)
CCS Tetris
..
thats all my brain can think of this early in the morning
I love puzzle games and RPGS :D

Oh man, carmageddon 1 is such a great game! I played it in the philippines to kill time with my cousins. So incredibly satisfying, especially if I'm frustrated over something, or just plain bored. Lol but don't let me drive afterwards! Carmageddon 2 wasn't as fun, because they actually tried to make it challenging and called the pedestrians "zombies" and stuff. The first one's graphics were so beautiful too, ahh now I want to play...

Day of the tenticle was one of my favorite games way back in the day. I loved all those old lucas arts games! I think most of them are underappreciated. Loom, Sam and max hit the road (I think this was more popular tho), Full throttle, Indiana Jones and the fate of atlantis, afterlife, humm, I know there were others, it's been too long... Also, the space quest series from sierra seems a bit underrated, but I'm not a good judge on popularity.

Yay for Earthbound! Such a good game. The dialogue in that game is just priceless. And yay for Jeff! Crazy characters, crazy Mr. Saturn.

Aaaaand I still think Illusion of Gaia is a good game. I don't know why. I think it was the pig named Hamlet that really made the game.

Cyborg Justice...? I remember that game on the Sega Genesis, but I didn't get into it because of the difficult controls, if I recall correctly. For awhile, I thought "Rise of the Robots" was the sequel to it.

Anyhow, the best obscure game I've ever played is "SNATCHER" on SegaCD. It's one of the few games on Sega CD that's worth so much, and awesome to play... especially for people familiar with Hideo Kojima/Konami's other games (Metal Gear, Rocketknight Adventures, Castlevania).

You kick much ass for having played the Misadventures of [the goddess that is] Tron Bonne. Supremely wonderful game, in my humble opinion. Besides, I can never get enough of Tron and her abusive, sadistic behavior towards those great lil' Servbots...but you know she loves 'em. ^_^

I really want to play Rhapsody... I've seen screencaps for it and it looks great. Only problem is that I can't find a copy anywhere...T_T Help?

Persona...I'll have to look into that...

For shame!

I'm the first to mention Panzer Dragoon Azel? That bad boy is still one of my all time most favorite RPGs... No... One of my all time most favorite games of all time.

Some other games that I thought were real sleepers that most people should try:

Super Turrican 1 & 2, Tecmo's Deception 1 & 2, Grandia 2, Fighters Megamix, NiGHTS (it sold well, but was forgotten WAY to fast), Super NinjaWarriors (Zuntata!), Actraiser, SoulBlazer, Illusion of Gaia, and ANYTHING PRODUCED BY TREASURE.

Oh yeah... I don't think they're exactly obscure, but I still think more people should play the old LucasArts PC graphic adventure games like Sam & Max and Maniac Mansions:DOTT. Good schtuff.

Hey, I dislike the WAY overhyped dance & rhythm game genre, but why didn't Unison do better? Did Tecmo even bother marketing it?

It's gotta be Moonwalker on the Mega Drive or whatever it's called in the US. Beating people with with Jacko whilst Thriller bangs on in the background. Noice. I said Noice.

Speaking of hard shooters, Ikaruga for Dreamcast was by Treasure too wasn't it? Just checking...

Guardian Legend
Herzog Zwei
ANYTHING "TREASURE" MADE (Like McDonaldland Adventures)
Panzer Dragoon Saga
(played demos of) REZ for PS2

Oh and YES, Ikaruga is made by Treasure. BUT, if you really want an even better shooter than that, find a ROM or buy a copy off Ebay of it's predecessor Radiant Silvergun. (which is considered by almost all of the industry to be the greatest shooter of all time)

Oh and BTW........Gradius 5 is being made by Treasure!!!
(Thank you for telling me Dreamer!) WOO HOOO!
