Hey Gang ! This recently landed in my mailbox and I thought I'd give the fine gals and guys here first dibs on attending. :)

Hi Dawn,

The Friends of the Merril are having a "Bring Out Your Dead" book swap meet on October 29th at the Lillian H. Smith Library (239 College Street).

Ad Astra will have a table there. I was wondering if you could ask any of our local costumers if they'd be interested in helping to promote Ad Astra at this event.

The hours are from 10-4:30, but people would be able to sign up for just an hour or two. I would need to know when people were coming just so we don't end up with more people than we can handle at the table. These hours will count towards volunteer hours.

So gang , we need some costumers to turn out in costume and help promote Ad Astra, (and thier terrific costume programming *wink wink, hint hint* ) The best part is that means you can get some volunteer hours put in towards your total in advance of the convention. Perfect for anyone who already knows they are attending or who are thinking of joining us for the first time. (I know alot of you are coming again this year and I look forward to seeing you all there again!)

Anyone interested can PM me and I'll pass your information on to Alana Otis who is organizing the promotion table. ^_^

I hope to hear from some of you soon!
Cheers!
~Dawn :)

Dang, I would LOVE to help out with this, but I am already committed to volunteering at a fundraiser on the 29th through the day. :(

But I encourage other folks to give it a try, it sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

Would be great to get those volunteer hours in early.

any 1 going to onnafest or anime boston '06 ????????????????

That has nothing to do with this post, or even this section of the forums.

Anywho, I wish I could help out, but I'm not in Toronto. :( Unfortunately, that's why I never get to go to Ad Strata. One trip to Toronto is expensive enough. Ah well.

I *MIGHT*
I'm a bit lazy to go find my agenda. Is it possible to choose when to volunteer (i.e. earlier or later on in the day).

Dawn I should contact you correct...? When is the latest that I can let you know?

I may be available in the morning, cause the photoshoot is in the afternoon, I guess it depends on proximity to subway station and such...

If I do I'll wear my Guard of the Fountain Court costume...

Just a note which I will pass on to the organizers (aka the lovely Chanilye)...if she has willing volunteers but needs costumes, I have a few I could lend. Norrington and Eowyn would both be good. Dangdangdang I wish I could be there, but instead I will be knee-deep in pooches at the K9 Companions Harry Potter Halloween fundraiser.

Come on people! It's a great cause, books and Halloween! Man, this event just screams for some Monty Python (Holy Grail, of course) costumes.

Yes you can contact me, either email or PM me when you know for sure. Soonish is better just because I'm sure Alana would need to know soon if no one is avialable so she can implement alternative plans.

Cheers!

Hey that sounds cool. ^_^ What's it about? Are there going to be dogs dressed as Harry potter characters? LOL. ^_^

Ah, getting models, cool idea. :) Maybe I could do that too. Send my sister down or something. Hm.. . All your costumes are faboo! Norrington is really fun :D

I'm tempted to do the same as Chef and come help out for the morning. Would force me out of bed at a decent time of day.

I don't really have any costumes that aren't manga/anime based except my actual halloween costume, but volunteering is still amusing (even if the chances of me attending AA isn't terribly good for me anyway). ^^;;

Question: would they care if I volunteer to help at the table even though #1 I've never been to AA and #2 I may not be able to attend AA for years to come?

Sorry Dawn but I looked at my schedule...

The only considerable break I have from now is last weekends of November

I have a lab and test after that weekend...october is the WORST month for me since I have to deal with school & school payments >_< So sorry..but I cannot do anything Halloween related this year >_< (6-9 lab on Halloween! aie!)

Since Ad Astra welcomes Anime Programming and Cosplay of course anime costumes are welcome! ^_^

You do not have to have attended Ad Astra to participate, nor are you compelled to attend this coming year.
