Lol! I see they've made a forum for me XD
hahaha j/k hehe

ANYWAY! XD This is so cool!

Do you crossplay? Are you male or female? Why do you crossplay?

I crossplay... duh! hehe. I'm known for Lulu.. hehe. I'm male, and I crossplay because my favorite characters are female, and I like to cosplay my favorite characters! I also do it for the reactions I get from confused people. XD

I am female, but I crossplay male characters sometimes. In a lot of shows the females either wear next to nothing or skintight stuff I wouldn't dream about wearing - so what does that leave but the guys. Other times, I just like the character and decide to costume them regardless of the sex.

*l* This is my new favorite forum. Nyeh, I crossplay because.. I can pull off male charas moreso than female.. ><; *lol* I haven't got the required cleavage for most female costumes I'd like to do, hence the reason the only female chara I'll cosplay as for the foreseeable future is .hack Subaru.. ^^; Oh well. But I also have more of an affinity for the male characters. So yeah. :D

Alright! A crossplay board! I'm a female and proud to be a crossplayer! Hmmm reason I crossplay is mainly because I don't a womanly appeal to cosplay most women. Almost all people I meet, think I'm a guy. So I went with it. But I may dress like a girl once in a blue moon....^-^;

I crossed played as Bakura at CNAnime 02. It has since been revamped so now looks MUCH better. (but still no wig..ARG!)

This is a strange forum concept. Oh well, I have a feeling I'll be here much, too.
Um, I'm trying to get variety in the cosplay resume there, be it male or female, but I instinctively lean towards crossplay, mostly as the guys are oftentimes so much cooler, in both design and personality. I try to just find characters that I can identify with and would be marginally comfortable wearing their outfits...and that just doesn't end up being most of the girls.

And yes, I gotta go with characters I could remotely resemble...which also wouldn't be most of the girls. X_x (Except the guys tend to be freakishly tall...but that's what 6" platform boots are for ^_^)

WHY do we even have a crossplay forum?
How is crossplay not "Anime costume", "Video games costumes" or "other costumes"?
I don't like this... it feels like segregation.

I am just a female cosplayer who happens to only dress as anime/video game characters who are male. That does not make me different from any other cosplayer.

Even if you do state it, Rosiel.......there will be a new player who might confuse you, at first glance, for a male.

Don't ask me how, i just figure it will happen [if not already, no offense] eventually.

Perhaps this section makes it official? [I can see where you might bounce back with "it doesn't need to be official"]

Well, cosplay.com has a big influence on the cosplay society in north america, in my opinion, and if they recognize crossplay as apart of cosplay - then maybe there will be more acceptance and understanding? ^^; *shrugs*

Well, that, and the fact that crossplay has it's own unique set of challanges - like me, a 5'7" 14 year old girl who needs to figure out how to look vaguely like a 25 year old guy who's probably closer to 6' ^^ Maybe the admins decided that we special people deserved a forum for our discussion of all those little things, rather than having them scattered around the other forums - costume questions related to the costume and not so much the crossplay bit could probably go in the other forums.

> there will be a new player who might confuse you, at first glance, for a male.

It happens all the time. ^_^ I guess I was talking more on a philosophical standpoint... in that I am not trying to look /male/ but trying to look like a character who happens to be male and...

I lost my point. O_O
I swear I had one! LOL

I respect your standpoint too, where one might think "you really don't need to have a seperate section to let people know that you crossplayed [insert theme // costume here]"........

But as we both know, it might clear some confusion. Who knows, someone might hit on a crossplay[ed player] only to find quite the surprise XD

I get mistaken as a female in my old Lulu costume.

Things from "Excuse my ma'am." "im a guy.." "oh.. er.. sir.." to.. "who are you dressed as?" "Im dressed as a girl!" "ITS A GUY AAH!!" XD

True, it might seem rather like segregation (or over-specialization), but having a crossplay forum would make it slightly easier to find threads on binding or stuffing ;P

There are other forum sections with relatively small followings as well (the j-rock and other costumes, for instance) so I guess having a special forum just for crossplaying isn't too much of a stretch ^_^

And obviously, if you had a costume problem or suggestion that applied to a character in general, rather than someone of the opposite gender trying to be that character, you could address that in the proper forum.

(random gripe...arr...I hate this computer/keyboard! I have to fix typos so often because of the computer's slow laggy evilness and the keyboard's stickiness, grr)

Ali: True true.. like there have been a lot of topics about taping breasts to make your chest flat - and topics about how guys can achieve cleavage and breasts and stuff like that. They're often mixed around the general cosplay tips forum which is quite difficult to find. But, if we have a forum especially for crossplay- it may spark some awesome tips with stuff like that. You never know! ^^d BTW - off topic but do you like my avatar? ^;^

Kekekeke, there's nothing quite as amusing as taking off your ace bandage for good after a long weekend of running around in crossplay. XD XD XD XD "Wow! I forgot I had these!"

Anywho, yes! I'm a crossplayer, mostly. I rarely do girl cosplays. Guys (er, Bishounen) are just more fun, and I enjoy acting like a guy more than I do a girl anyway. (I think I'm just an extreme tom-boy of some sort...) Plus, I always favored guy characters over females anyway! I've done Souma Ayame (Fruits Basket), Syaoran Li (Card Captor Sakura), and Shindou Shuichi ( Gravitation). ^_^ Hee... I plan to do many more Shuichi's, Tetsuo Kaga (Hikaru No Go), Himura Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin), HoroHoro (Shaman King) and others this year! ^_^

And yes, Nine! I love your icon! It's really cute! :3

Hmm...that is why we have bio profile pages, and that little entry spot labeled "gender" - I mean, if one is confused and really -has- to know.

And who cares if someone mistakes one for the opposite gender? This is known hazard in the game. I don't like being hit on either way, but I guess I'd feel much better if someone thought I was a good-looking guy rather than a weird-looking girl.

But I see what you mean, Rosiel ^_- I mean, with your point that didn't quite get out there. It's a really weird, perhaps too specialized, a division. I mean, even the j-rock discussion has to share with j-pop, and those aren't even close -- they're just both music. Actually, I do wonder how much can be said on this topic. I guess that's why I'm interested in checking on it once it gets going, just because I'm curious if there's that much to say. Who did come up with the forum idea?

(You would think that most cosplayers do crossplay at some point, but maybe a lot of them don't. Maybe that's why this got made. I don't know. I can't find a point either. O_o)

ooo, introductory thread.

I'm female and I crossplay. I crossplay because the characters and rock stars I choose to cosplay just happen to be male. ^^; I have c(r)os(s)played Yu~ki, Misa, Soshi, Yasha, Severus Snape, and Klaha. for upcoming cons, I will have many more male costumes.. o.o

Like I mentioned on another thread, I met some of my really good friends that way. One of them actually composed a love letter thinking I was a guy. ;)

It is, indeed, TERRIFYING.
You look so much like Lupin. >_<

Male crossplayer here. I don't think anyone has ever confused me as a women. Personally I think being able to pass for the opposite sex is a significant achievement for a crossplayer. It shows you got skillz.

Both my Xelloss & Zelgadis have fooled some people into thinking I was a guy. I thought it was quite funny. Having overcape that if set right hides the chest really helps - til I open my mouth then everyone knows I am female.

Weeeee crossplay. I only crossplayed once so far: http://www.g-chan.com/g-chan/shurenlord.shtml

Female Seifer doesn't count. ^___^

I am gonna be doing another crossplay at A-kon, and I'm very excited. Aside from the whole acebandaging the boobs down, boys outfits are so much more comfy!

I've been hit on a few times now ^^;; I've described all the instances in the thread I just started called "Funny Crossplay Stories"

http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7411

My Introduction!

Oddly enough, I'm known more in Texas than I am anywhere else, and I don't even live anywhere near Texas! ^^; Those who have been to AKon and/or Ushicon know who I am. I'm a male crossplayer (as in I dress as girls, but I am a guy) and I'm up to like 25 costumes now, most of which are female. You can find my costume photos at: http://Merlekun.Kumagoro.net

I go by a few names.. my real name is Jason Balduf, my nickname is Jase, and I was given the cosplay name of Merle-kun one year at Akon.

I've been cosplaying since 1999, and so far I've been lucky enough to have been on and hosted cosplay panels, been a cosplay judge, and I've ran and announced cosplay for Ushicon. I'm also slated to be a guest for Onicon 2004 in Houston Texas.

I'm hoping to be better known on the coast I live on (East), now that I work for I.C. Entertainment and will be hitting more conventions because of it. I'm easy to talk to, so if anyone sees me feel free to say hello.

Shameless Plug!

If anyone reading this needs someone to run or announce their cosplay I'm your guy! I love doing it and want to do so more than once a year. I have years of experience =3 I'm also available for panels! If IC is going to a con, odds are I am to! So drop me a line!

I just like to dress as my favorite characters who happen to be all males, everything is the same, it's all cosplay!
the crossplay forum has good conversations though, but no matter what we are all cosplayers! enjoy dressing-up in a costume, I know I will!
I wish everyday was holloween!
