I'm just wondering if anyone else around here is going to see William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy?

I just got the VIP pass myself, and I'm super excited for that 8x10 photo with them! My pass says "September 3rd" so I guess that means it's happening on Sunday? That's so sweet! Then we don't have to miss out on Saturday's events ^_^

Is anyone else going by themselves? If anyone else is going I'd love to meet up so I'm not alone, like I was for Patrick Stewart! XD

Please keep comments on the price if you're not attending to yourself :)

William Shatner's "Has Been" is an awesome record, and I would love to meet the guy.

Hm...VIP pass? I shall investigate.

Where did it say?????? (And do you have any idea if Chris Sabat is going to be back this year? *crosses fingers!*)

They probably only sent out notices about the Shatner/Nimoy so they could sell tickets in advance to folks who had bought the more pricey guest passes in the past.

I assume no other guests were probably on that card.

That's correct~

I was going to say correct but I'm not 100% sure but it most certainly wasn't the whole list

It was only Shatner and Nimoy on that card - I got one as well, and I only bought the weekend pass.

BTW, the advance prices for the three packages, good until Feb. 1 according to the card, are:

-VIP - $379
-Gold - $199
-Silver - $119

(I'm guessing that even with the prices going up after that date, the VIP package will probably still be less then the $650 for Marsters last year.)

Obviously, one of the reasons for them going out so early was to try and capture the pre-Holiday gift card market.

For me, $80 last year for Linda Park ($45 admission + $25 autograph card + $10 photo) was enough.

Not for me! V.I.P. ftw!

The thing is, Ms. Park was like fourth or fifth down on the guest list for SFX. If she had made it up here to TT17, she would have been at least a first tier guest along with James Marsters - who also had to bow out that same year.

So what are the full advantages of VIP?(does that mean you get access to meet everyone there?)

No, it's just for the actor in question. Each year Hobbystar has only one or two BNG that have this price structure.

Now I don't know, but others here might - do you get a discount if you buy both VIP packages together?

Oops, maybe I should clarify. No matter what pass you buy, you can still see all the other guests as they are signing up on the main dealer's floor. (Of course, it still costs to get their autograph.)

Of course, you still need to get the deluxe weekend pass to get in to the Q&A's of all the, what I call, 'second tier' guests. The Q&A's of the 'first tier' guests require the special passes, such as the VIP pass.

However, what I did say before still holds, that there are one or two guests that Hobbystars really advertises at these levels.

But I have to ask folks here, how do you feel with having Nimoy back after only three years? (He came to SFX in 2003, with help from the World Science Fiction Convention - aka Worldcon, or in our case that year Torcon 3.)

(The reason I ask is because we had Denise Crosby as a last-minute guest at TT19 this past summer, and afterwards someone mentioned how it was just all the same stories that we'd heard when she was here in Toronto at SFX a few years back. Not to say that I feel that people here would feel that way.)

This year is going to be year #7 since Kevin Smith last appeared at CN. If I had my way, he'd be back. Hell... he'd be back every year. The man goes to almost every Wizard World. True he has done 2 Q&As @ Roy Thomson Hall within the span of 6 months a year and a half ago, and some questions are asked repeatedly... he was able to make each event completely differernt and fresh. Crosby, as you mentioned, wasn't able to do that... which I don't think is her fault. Sometimes specific question = specific response and people who didn't attend the first appearance was hearing it for the first time at the second.

But as for Nimoy and Shatner returning after being guests a couple of years before... I have no problem with it really. I never really jump for the higher priced guests... so as long as it doesn't effect the "lower tier"... I'm okay. Although if Nimoy was preventing Smith from appearing... I really don't care o_O
I pay whatever price to see actors I support for the level that I support them. As I mentioned in a previous post, the cost of the V.I.P. ticket also included a Deluxe Pass to the convention.

So I'm going to assume that no one here has bought the tickets then? Since that was why I started the topic.

Thanks ^^;
I'm debating getting an additional item autographed for $100. Does anyone know how that works? Do you usually pay in advance or at the event? When Patrick Stewart was postponed last year, Michael Dorn and Levar Burton's appearance had signatures on-the-spot. But that was a special case so I'm not sure how it's actually supposed to work out x_X

I'm sorry to "bump" the topic, but I thought since it was closer to the con maybe somebody may have bought the passes now? I'm just curious because I'd rather meet up with anyone who was going rather than be alone like I was for Patrick Stewart and have to make akward small chat with the people around me LOL

Luckily, both my dad and I are HUGE fans of Star Trek, and my dad has offered to pay for some of the package to meet them and such. So I should be there, we could meet up somewhere if you want.

HORRAY~! Finally somebody to talk to :D
I'm a huge fan of Star Trek too, but I'm not one of the guru's that's seen like every single episode and stuff like that, sadly. But I have a huge appriciation for it, watching it growing up as being the only "good thing on TV" LOL

I hope it goes smoothly ^^
