Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone here is going to the ComiCon http://www.hobbystar.com/hobbystar/ConventionsPoster_060205.html (yes, obviously not anime)...but still it would be an excuse to cosplay?

So does anyone?

And who would you be cosplaying as?

I think I might go as ZIM *lol's and hides from flame throwers*

Just curious.

I was thinking about it. my boyfriend's dad is a big time comic collector... But I think we're going to hold off for for the one in April. it looks like it'll be bigger, plus free admission ftw!

I'll be there! I was going to try to throw together a new costume for it... but there's just no time ^_^ So I'll be wearing Rabi~en~Rose again (seems it's becoming my stand-by costume for every con :bigtu: )

WHOOT! I was sort of feeling 'ergish' because I went to a comic con back in the states, and it seemed like I really WAS the only cosplayer there...save for a Lora Croft that I saw for 2 seconds the whole three days. XD;

02-03-2006, 02:13 AM
Well, looks like there's going to be at least three at this one ^_^

Just so you all know, this is NOT the same ComiCon that Paradise Comics is holding at the CNE grounds.

Anyhow, you can get free admission flyers from virtually every comic store in the city for this Hobbystar she-bang.

I'm confused. Who said anything about the CNE? The con we were talking about passed already... Except for me, I mentioned going to the one in April.

02-19-2006, 01:36 PM
O_O which one is that, I was thinking on taking wife to the march on myself. Don't know what or if I will wear anything u_u , though I wish more info would come out >_<#

02-19-2006, 02:32 PM
The one in March is the Super Anime Con. There's a topic for it here: http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=72418

The one I'm walking about in April is HobbyStar's ComiCON Special Fan Appriciation Event: http://www.hobbystar.com/hobbystar/ConventionsApril.html

02-19-2006, 04:01 PM
And the Hobbystar ComiCON that rage-syndrome, DaSpecialestK, and I were talking about at the top of the thread already happened Feb 5. It was... well, yeah. It had nothing to offer if you weren't looking to buy comic books, lets leave it at that.

u_u meeps , me sorry brain isn't working today

02-19-2006, 10:58 PM
That's why I'm going... COMICS :D :D :D :D
It's so hard to find the rare comics that my boyfriend's dad requires to complete his collection, that's why we're going to the really big one. The small ones rarely have what we're looking for.

03-21-2006, 07:30 AM
*scratches head*

Okies so... who's going to the HOBBYSTAR ComiCON on APRIL 23rd?
(NOT the one that passed that this topic was originally started for, and NOT the Paradise Comics one)

03-21-2006, 11:28 AM
hmm you said that's the appreciation event where you can get in for free if you spend $10 at a participating comicstore or pay for admission and get a $10 voucher for the dealer's room..it sounds quite enticing =)

I have it in my plans to attend, but April is smack dab into university finals...can't go if I have an exam scheduled the day of or the day after :(

03-21-2006, 03:55 PM
Wait, I'm confused now... O_O HAHA

How many Hobbystar Comicon's ARE there??? blehhh XD

03-21-2006, 04:54 PM
There was one in February, and this one coming up in April is a fan-appreciation thing. Maybe it's something like the MTAC/DTAC cons?

03-21-2006, 07:33 PM
The one in April that I started the other topic for is a special fan appriciation event, I don't think it's a regular convention.
This one -> http://www.hobbystar.com/hobbystar/ConventionsApril.html
I guess you didn't know? I was wondering why you closed my topic?

03-21-2006, 07:59 PM
I was actually planning on going to this...but not sure in cosplay or not XD I have two free tickets from the March convention (MTAC) to go...so me and my friend might be going..
It'd be quite amusing to see Anime cosplayers at a ComiCon XD so...I'm thinkin i might just dress up....but i would LOVE to actually see some Anime Cosplayers there <33 even if it is a comic convention <3
o.o the conversation so far seems a little confusing...I think i might stay out of it lmao *will check back later*

03-21-2006, 08:08 PM
When I make a comic costume I'll definately wear it, but I'm reluctant to wear an anime one ^^;; I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about it! XD

I kinda wish I went to MTAC just to grab those free passes o_o but I go to the comic store a lot anyway so it's easy enough to pick up ^^

03-21-2006, 10:09 PM
There were free tickets at MTAC? I only saw ones for free sunday admission :( But either way it's still kinda free, either you buy something for $10 at a comicstore and get in for free, or you pay $10 admission and get a voucher to use in the dealer room :P But I suppose you can't avoid buying merchandise...that's not free LOL, I wonder if they give out goodies

03-22-2006, 07:52 AM
I'm not really sure! I've never been to a Hobbystar one before (well, aside from FXC). But yeah, I've heard 2 people (i think it was 2) saying they got free passes from MTAC.
