I can't believe I forgot about advertizing here. x_x

SO. For those who attended the Symphonic Anime Orchestra concert last year (sunday), we're looking for more members for NDK 06! Right now, a total of 13 people have signed up. :'( I'm sure Katie would LOVE anybody who can play an instrument above the 8th grade level to join!

We meet several times during the summer (hopefully at Grandview HS in Aurora) and then reherse two hours a day in the morning during NDK. It's a blast and learning experience for everybody.

Sign up now! Katie just started arranging the songs, so it dosn't seem like it's too late. And if you play a bass instrument, WE NEED YOU!! Tuba+chello does NOT= a decent bass section. I'm only doing part-time bassoon now and won't be able to get a hold of one for the summer/fall semester so I can't help out there. :'(

Everything else can be found here:

What does that mean when you say playing better than the 8th grade level??!!!

And cello and tuba are a great section..JKJKJKJKJKJK!!

Really, guys, anyone who plays an insturment should really join this group!!!! Its really fun and it doesn't even interfere with very much con time.

As in, at least have a minimum of one year band/orchestra playing experience and can move your fingers sort of quickly. I ended up being the only Flute II last year because the rest of 'em dropped out- Kevin (I think that was his name), who I sat next to, couldn't do a 16th note chromatic run in Catch You Catch Me, so I gave him a mini-lesson after one rehersal. And then he forgot his instrument come NDK... x_X

I have a violin I could offer, assuming I can still play it. I would probably need like a week or so to get back into the habit of playing it, once I do that tho I'm good to go, depend on the difficultly and such I'm am willing to do it....

That would be wonderful! 13 people dosn't even equal a chamber orchestra, so the more, the merrier!

Jup. Last year, we met 4 or 5 times at Grandview Highschool during the summer, and then every day during NDK from 8-10AM. We'll see what Katie'll do for summer practise locations in due time...

ok. I might be going to Japan sometime this summer for a month and a half so I might miss practices. I'll talk to Katie about it. I'm a big band freak so there won't be an issue in me not knowing my music. Not only that but I'm used to reading grade five trumpet music so I'm hoping it won't be grade 5 music >.<

Last I checked, no. *digs through inbox* Here's what she last told us what was being arranged:

So here is what is in the works so far for 2006. I have The World from .hack//SIGN arranged and I'm working on Change the World from Inuyasha, Forever Love XJapan, a Rurouni Kenshin themes medley, and Iím trying to decide on a video game selection. Iíve got a few ideas for more pieces but I only need one more if someone has something they really love.

Iím also annoyed with NDK because their origination is really bad this year and SAO was not advertised on the website despite my many emails. So if you know anyone who wants to play with us itís still happening according to the emails so just past it on.

Anyway, Iíve started arranging ^_^ I hope everyone is having a good start to the new year!

I play the Violin and have been playing for four years. As much as I would like to join, I wont be able to this year due to time and practice. However, I may be able to next year. If thats ok?...It sounds like Awesome fun!

Hi, I am currently one of the core bards (violin) for the Spoony Bards http://www.spoonybards.com currently. Unfortunately, we are mostly based in the midwest, Chicago and St. Louis specifically, so plane tickets really hurt our wallets. Most of the work in the bards is played by ear on the spot.

Lucky enough for me, I plan on attending NDK this year. I felt lonely last NDK and I did not have an instrument on hand.

I have been playing violin since I was nine, I am now nearly 20. All years excluding this last year I have been under formal private lessons. I used to teach beginning and intermediate violin/viola lessons.

My experience goes from Edwardsville middle school orchestra (Violin I/II and String Bass) through Edwardsville High School Orchestra (Violin I/II, Viola, and String Bass), and awhile in Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville orchestra (Violin).

I have experience being a leader-first chair, but I really do not care what I play. As long as I am playing something, I'm happy. Hence why I shifted around my high school orchestra playing pretty much everything but cello to help out whatever section.

Competed and never placed anything below a first placement in all of the all-district competitions, qualified for All-State in high school. I do not consider myself a child prodigy, I used to practice a lot, there are billions of people that are thousands of times better than I will ever be, I know because I was lucky enough to have a few of them in the orchestras I have played in.

My weaknesses in performance: Poor memory, if not well practiced then I suffer from the usual stage fright.

I have performed in many chamber groups, weddings, etc.

I would love to play violin for you guys to keep me occupied at NDK if you want me. If your group is in need, I can play viola, although I will have to borrow one from my former conductor. I technically could play string bass, but there is absolutley no way I am going to lug one on a plane from St. Louis. ^-^

Currently, my fellow SBard member Jer (keyboard and melodica) wants to also attend, but he is looking into prices and whatnot before he formally announces he will come.

I look forward to hearing back from your group. Sounds fun.

Alisa: Email Katie and see if you can still join- music has been mailed out and rehersal dates have finally been set, so I don't know if she's willing to accept any more/new people at this point...
