What exactly is the masquerade?

A Masquerade is usually the highlight of an anime con. It typically takes place on Saturday night. Cosplayers can enter in the Masquerade and have to oppurtunity to perform a skit and exhibit their costumes in front of an audience. At the end of a Masquerade, the judges usually hand out awards to cosplayers whom they feel exhibit quality craftsmanship and/or perform a skit with an outstanding presentation.

And make sure you buy the Masquerade tickets and not assume that the other one you bought will get you in. ^_^;;

There are several individuals and groups ( I think I'm part of a group) who have signed up to perform in the Masquerade (Need to fill in an application). Relax, no audience member is randomly picked up to perform onstage.

Tickets for said event cost nothing except the time you spend waiting in line for your ticket.

Hmmm...just make sure you actually get a ticket. My cousin and I sat in line for a good three hours, had a nice spot, and then they wouldn't let us in. =\ Just get at ticket...don't be stupid like us ^_^

Where do we get tickets?

Last year they had a scheduled time in which they started handing out tickets. Think it was 9am last year. If you want a ticket be there early. Don't line up at 9am thining you'll get a ticket. Some people told me that they were there at 6am. I got there around 8 and the line was pretty long.

Does everyone have to get their own ticket or can i pick up extras?

You don't have to buy the tickets. It'll say in the program book when and where they'll hand out tickets. I think it was one per person last year. I remember people at AX telling me that they lined up the night before for tickets. I don't think it's that bad at fanime.

Michi: I only spent 45 minutes sleeping friday night/saturday morning..blame it on my roommates and I had no choice but to wake up, get some breakfast and then go stand in line for the tickets, which I did. I think I'll go home, sleep and be down there by 5 a.m LOL :P

Do NOT camp out at the hotel halls the night before ticket distribution! Especially when ticket distribution takes place inside the hotel.

The hotels don't care for people loitering in their halls (What do you think the hotel rooms are for?). Y'all become a fire hazard. Traffic can get pretty bad in the halls without people blocking doors and floor with their sleeping bags and bodies. And last year staff was dispersing people waiting for the tickets the night before. Just show up early on the day of distribution.

Now if distributionwas taking place outdoors (like last year's AX), it'd be cool to camp out. Since it's outdoors, we become the city's problem.

Do you have to preregister to attend the masquerade?

videogirlc

As long as your registered for at least saturday I'm pretty sure you can go. Don't think it matters if you preregister or not.

A fire hazard? As if i wasn't going to run if there was a fire. If you have two legs and are flammable you are never creating a fire hazard or blocking a fire exit.
