Comic con... you'll find the local San Diego cosplayers out there. We're not abundent in cosplay, mostly trekkes and star warian people, but its all fun. Prepare for massive amounts of people though and I should be bringing an abundance of costumes.... maybe not.

Comic Con is nice because there isn't a whole lot of cosplay pressure. You just go there and chill and enjoy the con experience. If you cosplay be prepared to pose for massive amounts of pictures, especially if you're dressed as someone even non-anime fans will recognize.

Shonen Star: I *think* David Mack was there last year but I couldn't find him. (That place is huge, and I didn't think to look for him until late in the con.)

Its a nice con where the whole place is your play ground. And if security doesn't see you, you're golden.

I'm going! Anyone know how or which hotel to get? =P Some genius put me in charge of this one and the webpage doesn't say jack.

Costumes:
Ringwraiths (for my brother and roommate)
Psylocke
StormTrooper armor (assuming we get it shipped from Boston to here by then... =P)
Ten from the Royal Flush Gang
Nefretiri from Mummy Returns
Oh and whatever the hell I finish by that time and haven't gotten to wear enough of... :)

Yeah I saw that.. it's ok though, I'm still gonna do Psylocke cause I've always wanted to do her. And it's easy. =)

I'm going! I've gone to CC over the past three years and I LOVE it. You get a lot of variety. But lots of cosplay too! Can't wait to see you there!

Something Lulu

I'll probably be wearing Tifa, Lulu, Paine, and Faye but that's not definite.

AJ: it's so cool that you're cosplaying Psylocke! She's a great chara and I love seeing X-Men cosplayers.

Ah, the con I've been going to for five years now......the best....
I'll be there, I'm not sure how long though! I hope to wear Inu-Yasha, Bakura (duelist Kingdom version), and then hopefully Lina Inverse!
It's gonna be fun!

* Does anyone know how much it is to get in? Because I may be able to stay with family if I knew how much it cost*

I just got a little booklet in the mail yesterday, and it gives a little more info about the con, and highlights from SDCC2002. They jacked up the price of the con AT the door, it's now $65 instead of $60, so if you pre-reg before April 16th, it's $50, and if you pre-reg. before June 5th, it's $60. No hotels have been listed so far in the brochure, but this year I'm not sure where I'm staying at. Last year my group we had 6 people and we split a room at the HYATT (2nd closest hotel) and it was still pretty expensive for 3 nights.. My bro and I may do that again and get new people to room with us, else we might just get a cheaper motel somewhere away from the con and commute it back-n-forth each day. We'll see..

Costumes? Since anime isn't as appreciated at SDCC that well (my Saitou costume wasn't that recoginzed last year), I may just wear a few costumes that won't be too difficult, and ones that won't keep me too hot in the San Diego sun when walking to & from the hotel.. I just might bring:

Shinji
Trowa (EW)
Ryosuke (with the FC3S to "drift" around the con-center)
SUPER-SECRET costume (it's from a videogame, so it has to be recognized!) :skidude2:

Eurobeat King: I can't wait to see your Trowa!! I always see you in the pictures you take at cons and I love your Trowa's!! See all of you there!

Its so Awsome to see some California Locals on a message board *L* I'm Residing in San Diego Currently.
I'll more than likely be venturing down. I think my friend and I will be going as Posion Ivy And Harley Quinn.
*L* I wonder if I'll end up spending hundreds of dollars on Crud like I did last year. I Can't Get out of that Dealers room to save my life!

I'm gonna be all FF-ed out at CC this year. It's something recognizable, and I like cosplaying as Final Fantasy ppl. I'm going to start version 2.0 of Lulu this week now that I finally have all the supplies.

The FC3S is the car, right? Mwahaha I can't wait to see it. ^_^

I'm thinking of going, but as a volunteer, so I won't be to wear my costumes...but if I do, I'll be roaming around like a zombie LOL :p

Something Lulu

You should wear a couple of Tokyopop bags as shirt and pants! The guys doing it last year were too embarrassed to let me take their picture, I think. They were just like "We're just doing it for the DVDs."

I 'll be there! Still trying to decide on which costumes to bring! The only thing I know for certain is that I'll be bringing the Merry Brandybuck (from LOTR) costume, since I'll be in a little LOTR group there. I'll probably bring Vash the Stampede as well...maybe something new. Depends on what I get finished for Fanime and AX! :D

I need to figure out hotel stuff, too. If anyone wants to share hotel recommendations, feel free! Closest, cheapest, best, whatever... I'm all ears!

All good things,
Kel

That's one of the reasons we're bringing LOTR costumes, actually!

We are meeting up sometime during the con, Aimee. You don't have a choice in the matter. ;)

Yeah, the Tokyopop ppl would make you do things for free manga or DVDs, so Sana-chan and I answered a bunch of history questions really sarcastically and got 3 mangas out of it. ^_^ The guys had to wear Tokyopop bags for 10 minutes or something.

RyuHayabusaDOA2
02-26-2003, 10:02 PM
and speaking of manga, karekano vol.2 came out today and I wanted it so bad..but I'm going to my bookstore to see if they have the new issue of newtype usa. well, If I go to Comic-Con, I want roomies to share the cost of the hotel. It would be a lot easier for me and my wallet, since I guess, volunteering doesn't include a hotel room :D

Something Lulu
02-27-2003, 12:53 PM
I'm sure you'll be able to find ppl who wouldn't mind extra ppl to split the cost with. I don't really know about the hotels for CC because that's the con we commute to.

Is this still set for the first week of August? I MIGHT go, but certainly not in costume. Still, it would be funny to be mistaken for Keitaro Urashima or Kazuya Saotome.

I wish we had a way of changing our costumes halfway through the day. Maybe we can bring the car and change in there. (Being in a marching band when I was 14 gave me a lot of practice in changing my clothes safely in a car full of people @_@.)

Sana-chan
03-05-2003, 08:48 AM
Well Comic Con has those big ol bathrooms ya know... so people could change in there... but @_@. Then it wouldn't feel like Comic Con all being stressed about costumes lol. Comic Con is more chill-moding time for me. Still dunno what to wear O_o.

I hope Billy Boyd and everyone makes another surprise guest appearance hehe.

Daredevil, there was one last year for the masquerade, good construstion too.

Also I remember this superman dude. Even though kinda old, he does like the man of steel.

Yes. I am going.

The only finalized costume so far is X-treme X-men Storm. Just finished the electronics for the SFx stuff. Now to install it all and get all working together.

Rei Ayanami
03-09-2003, 03:10 PM
I'm defenetly going! I'll be cosplaying Ayanami Rei in plug suit. I've been looking for a Evangelion group to go to the con with, anyone interested? pm me! ^^

I'll be there...and FYI...the X-Men group is still planned.

There may be other characters open and we are working out the details...most likely, Friday will be the X-Men group Day.

The style is mostly the Extreme/Ultimate/Movie X-Men. Shiny, modern and hitech. Most people are staying away from the yellow spandex LOL

Sana-chan
03-12-2003, 12:09 AM
What day are you all doing x-men? I think I have some school friends that are gonna be doing x-men costumes for Comic Con and I'm sure they'd love meeting up with everyone else.

Yay Comic-con! I go every year. This year I'm making another Death costume for sure. I'm considering a LOTR costume (maybe Arwen's mourning dress or an Easterling <---would be very hard, but so cool)...dunno what else.

Sana-chan
03-18-2003, 08:41 AM
Ooooo do LOTR!! It'd be very cool to find a whole bunch of LOTR ppls. I'm really hoping that more of the cast will come out this year like they did last year.

Right here! I may only make it to SDCC and not AX. ;_;

My costumes are:
Ling Xiaoyu, Tekken 4 workout suit
Ukyo from Ranma 1/2
Yuri from Dirty Pair Flash!
and not sure if I'll be there all four days, so costumes in the air are:
Yura from Inu-Yasha
A SC5 2 Ulala or Pine

My family will also be cosplaying! ^____^

For our Ranma group: my brother as Ranma, Joe as Ryoga (how fitting ^-^) my niece as P-chan, my brother's best friend as Mousse, his wife as Shampoo (who she has already sorta done) my sis as Kodachi, cousin Vince as Tatewaki, and cousin Mike as Genma or Panda.

tekken 4, my brother as Martial Law, Jow as Jin, and my niece as a mini Ling xiaoyu Tekken 3 ^-^

My sis will be joining me as Kei from DPFLash!!

cousin Mike wants to do Hworang and his little brother wants to do Rock from capcom v. SNK I believe...

I never though to get my mom to cosplay, but what an interesting thought!
