I think AN's the biggest one, not positive though...

We've also got CNA (Renamed to something else this year, though) in the late summer, beginning of September this year.

The same people who run CNA also have March-TAC and December-TAC, in those months, of course. They're just mini-conventions though, two days for MTAC and one for DTAC.

And Ad Astra, which is finishing/finished today, don't know much about that one though ^^;

That's all the Toronto cons I know about :D;;

Ad Astra (March 31 - April2, 2006) - www.ad-astra.org

Toronto ComiCon* (Fan Appreciation Event) (April 23, 2006) - http://www.hobbystar.com/hobbystar/ConventionsApril.html

Toronto ComicCon* (April 28 - 30, 2006) - www.torontocomicon.com

Anime North (May 26 - 28, 2006) - www.animenorth.com

Toronto Trek (July 7-9, 2006) - http://www.tcon.ca/tt20/

Garden City Anime Festival (July 14-16, 2006) - http://www.gcaf.org

Northern Anime Festival (July 22, 2006) - http://northernanime.ca/

Fan Expo Canadaa - (Sept 1-3, 2006) - http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConToronto2006/CC_Main.asp

Con-Cept (Oct 13-15, 2006) - http://www.conceptsff.ca/

December Toronto Anime Convention (Dec 2006?) - www.hobbystar.com

*Note: even though these events have the same name, they are NOT the same event.

From this list NAF, GCAF and Con-Cept aren't located in Toronto.

Anime North is the biggest "Anime" convention, but I think Fan Expo is larger because it has all the little sci-fi, horror and comic conventions umbrella-ed under it.

It looks like the above posters have answered your questions, but here are some other good places to find conventions/events in your area :chatah:

Cosplay.com's convention list (http://www.cosplay.com/conventions.php)

AnimeCons.com (http://www.animecons.com/)

Anime North (http://www.animenorth.com) is the largest fan run con here, which hosts approximately 10,000 attendess every year. This year there are 13 Costuming related events slated as well.

FANEX Canada (http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConToronto2006/CC_Main.asp) is the largesCorporate Expo which hosts approximately 40,000 fans each summer, but is more multi genre convention.

Cheers!

Isn't there a small convention at the University of Buffalo this weekend? I don't know much about it and am not going but a friend of mine who goes there told me about it.

that's the thread for 2006. I was planning on going but didn't want to take off work for it (well, I have Sunday off... but it's not worth driving for a small con on a sunday) since the other day I put in for a week off to go to Anime Expo this summer. Momoko and I were going to hunt down a friend of ours and make him wear a costume XD;;

....They changed the name to Fan Expo? What on earth for? Are they just trying to confuse me?

IIRC "Canadian National Expo" was too close to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) so they had to change it. :P

If I may add another convention not in the Toronto region to the list:

Otakuthon (June 10 - 11, 2006) - www.otakuthon.com

And yes, like Con-Cept, it is in Montreal.
