Any good places to get wigs? What I'm looking for in particular is a teal-ish, green-blue color, that goes down to about the neck or so...
I was gonna get a blonde one and dye it, but from Rosiels story... um... no. LoL
I must finish off my Oshi costume by AXNY ;D

They do some anime wigs. I can vouch for quality because I've been to their store-their also one of only a few online wig sellers.

Ebay is fine ^_^ I've ordered lotsa stuff off there. The more things the person has sold, the more likely theyre good ^.^
btw with your wig, you might just wanna find a wig in the right color and take it to a hairstylist to cut. witchwigs.com is good.

Ebay is very very reliable. Just make sure you buy from someone with lots of positive feedback, and no negative feedback. And you can find just about anything! *is often seen running down the cyber aisles of Ebay in wonderment*

About that styling. You say hairstylists will actually cut and style a wig?

HuongStar

Some hairstylists will but it all depends on the quality of the wig, the style, and the hairstylist. You can find wig stylists by looking online or through your local phone book! :)

I got lucky and my friend who is a hairstylist help me cut Faye's wig. Wigs are arranged differently than natural hair so cutting them is a bit more difficult. >_< Try and find something close to the style you need and keep the cutting to a minimum.

And whatever you do, don't use regular scissors to cut wig hair! >_< If you are planning on cosplaying regularly, invest in a decent pair of hairstyling shears. You can find them at a local beauty supply store or even beauty college.

*nods* Thanks... ok. See, my dilema is that I want to have this hair --> 1 (http://www.ficticious.net/cait/tn_54_jpg.jpg) 2 (http://www.ficticious.net/cait/tn_20_jpg.jpg) 3 (http://www.ficticious.net/cait/marlene.jpg) ...but I'm not sure how to go about it as to be most visually stunning/accurate. Many places sell long blond wigs, but few have even mildy appropriate bangs for styling. The others don't seem to have much.. oh I don't know. I'm debating. My hair grows extremly fast and I really don't care much about it. I figure I could have it down to my mid back by next summer, and could dye it that color and have it cut like that as I make the convention circuit, but would that really be any better?

I'm.. confused. Opinions?

I would recommend going for a wig. You can style a blonde wig to look like this, just find one with the right part and length and you can do anything from there.

Don't bleach your hair for it. Bleaching to platinum takes a lot of upkeep (especially if your hair grows fast you'll get roots after a week, think 80s Madonna hair) and can be expensive and damaging, especially on long hair.

So unless you really want that color for yourself, and are ready to go through the hassle, I'd say get a wig.

And wow I am impressed someone is actually cosplaying Marlene! I hope you'll have an Allen with you!

*gawk* Someone who knows who Marlene is! NEAT! I have a friend (female) who might if I was extremly nice and made the costume for her dress as young Allen. But, she's sort of in another country at the moment, so for now I will be Allen-less. Actually, I keep wishing I had a younger brother so that I could have a Prince Chid with me.

I would only probably dye it for the summer. And I am notorious for not caring about my hair. After the con season I'd probably just cut it all off anyway. All I care about is which would look better. Would a wig with that kind of regal dress have a chance of looking good? *ponders the hundreds of dollars she could spend trying to get an elegant wig* The only wig I've ever worn was neon blue, so I have no real gage on that.

I've given up on wigs... I'm gonna just straighten out my hair and use some color spray ^_^;;

> *gawk* Someone who knows who Marlene is! NEAT!

I love Escaflowne, and contrary to most fans I actually like the three princesses. But I prefer Millerna to Marlene, if only because she had the strength to leave everything she knew for the man she loved instead of giving up like Marlene.

But Marlene was the prettier of the three. ^___^

> Actually, I keep wishing I had a younger brother so that I could have a Prince Chid with me.

That would be so cute! Kidnap the neighbours' kid... ;)
But yes I would love to see a Young Allen & Millerna cosplay duo...

> I would only probably dye it for the summer.

It's not a dye but a bleach, that's pretty hard on your hair. And to have it look good you will probably have to dye your roots before each con... or risk like I mentioned the Madonna look.

> Would a wig with that kind of regal dress have a chance of looking good?

If you get a decent wig (and not it's not that expensive probably less than $40) and trim it well, it will look good. I've had so many people complimenting me on my hair when I was wearing a wig. ^___^

I guess it depends on whether your hair can attain the kind of volume Marlene's has... if it does and you do your roots regularily at least it will be more comfortable!

*nods* Ok. Wig it is! Thanks! I would have done Millerna's dress, but I find the black stretch pants and brown/pink combo to be horrendously ugly. I like Millerna, but she needs to really ask someone who's not color blind to pick out her clothes. ^_^;

Ooooooh yes. I found myself with the same problem and it discouraged me. I HATE PINK.

I would have done her wedding dress -maybe- but luckily my friend who needed a Millerna found someone willing to wear pink before I had to start on THAT number. >__<

*laugh* Yes, I already have a pink dress (Malon) and pink decor (Yuna) on my various costumes. Even Marlene has some pink on her... her overskirt is pink. *sigh* Atleast Marlene wears a majority of red and gold. ^_^

I would actually like to work with a bright color sometime. I keep choosing costumes that are primarily black or grey. I want to do movie-version Folken for next summer's cons...I originally wanted to do TV-style Allen, but I totally fell in love with Folken's movie outfit. He reminds me of Jarreth from Labyrinth. Yay 80s movies!!!

I think getting a wig is definitely worth the $40 you'll probably pay for it. I've noticed that cosplayers wearing wigs tend to look like their characters more than if they have the right hair if only because, being anime characters, their hair is almost always larger/poofier/looking not-quite-attached. It's a stylistic thing.. people who use their real hair look a little off because their hair is so limp-looking.. and being able to see the scalp is wrong, wrong for anime! *laughs*

It's also very useful when you cosplay competely different characters at one con o_o;;;

And if you don't want the wig to fall off when you run.. that's what wig-caps and bobby pins are for ^_^

Hey man have you tried http://www.worldofwigs.com/ ? I know they've got all sorts of wigs at different prices.. as for the colour you're looking for Im not sure.. I havent been there in a while. But tis worth a shot. Their prices range from really cheap to really expensive.

I've never had any trouble on eBay, and have gotten some excellent quality wigs for a good price. If anyone wants to know who I've done business with, I can give you the seller names.

ReiChan - Movie Folken DOES have a Jarreth vibe going on! OMG! I never noticed!

LOL Well I have run all over cons and none of my wigs ever fall off. As long as you remember to attach the wig to your head with hairpins you're ok.

It will shift if you just put it on on its own.

I know this might be insanely difficult to attempt, but I want to try and finish it in time for AWA-8. Anyone know how I could make the three curls in front of Giorno's (from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) hair? I plan to use a wig since I have no way near as much hair as he does. XD

Here's a link to his picture: http://members.hometown.aol.com/mugenesis/images/2308.jpg

You could probably make three large pin curls with the hair from the crown. Since it's a blond wig, you'll want to use blond (gold) bobby pins to pin the hair.

You might want to ask Integral from paper wings.org how she made those hugh curls in her silky wig. It looks like that might work for Giorno's hair.

I've found the best place for me to run out and get a wig (as opposed to ordering one) is Party City. Surprisingly enough, not only are their wigs pretty cheap (20 range) but they're really good quality too! I got a brown side flip wig for Selphie there, and whenever I wore it with my costume, people kept asking me if it was my real hair...it didn't look wiggy at all and it was incredibly cheap too! ^^;; Good stuff.

I took up that suggestion on trying Party City -- the selection wasn't too bad! A lot cheaper than actually buying it from a dedicated 'wig' shop. Much thanks...!

For the last 3 costumes I made, I bought the wigs at http://www.witchwigs.com/ . They were very nice and not too expensive.
