View Full Version : Moonlight Masquerade at FanExpo?

I just wondering, posing the question to all Anime North staff that were involved with the Moonlight masquerade ball, are there any plans to hold one this year at FanExpo? I would have loved to go, but becasue we were one of the later entries in the masquerade I wasn't able to get tickets. It was an extremely popular event this year, and it's more than likley it would be popular at CNAnime too. I'd love it of there was a moonlight ball at Fanexpo too, I don't mind offering my help in organzing one if more help is needed.

CNAnime won't have this event. They have the Anime All Night at the Strathcona. :)

Agreed, CN doesn't even have a Saturday night dance, let along a masquerade ball. Since the expo takes place in a convention center, as opposed to a hotel, there just isn't the function space available (since the con center closes down every night, unlike a hotel). As much as I want to say that they wouldn't hold even a dance for us because they don't like us very much and only want our money, I know that there are other reasons behind that. First, getting a second space to hold such a function would cost Hobbystar $$. Second, it would cost them money to bring in security for the event, extra staff, extra organization ... blah blah blah. And since it’s a corporate expo and not a fan run event, it’s about what's profitable and not what the people want. Especially the anime fans. I'm convinced that they still don't like us much.

Anyway, that was a very long and biased answer, when Heki's was a lot more straight forward. But hopefully its enough to give people an idea of why certain events happen at AN and not CN. ^_^
