Hello. Connecticon has been nice enough to grant me the role of organizing and posting the days and times for the cosplay shoots. But of COURSE I'm not gonna do it without feedback from you guys. Here's a list of possible shoots that can be done.

All of the below time are subject to change, so please consult the final poster that will be AT the con. ALSO Please check the judging times and know when you need to be judged for your costume, check in for the Masq, hand in music, etc. Shoots shouldn't last more than 30-45 minutes, but it still a good idea for you and your group to have a definite time in mind.

Connecticon Forum Members (Friday Noon)
Naruto (Friday at 2pm)
American Cartoon & Webcomic (Friday 3pm)
Gravitation (Friday 3:30)
Sailor Moon (Friday 4pm)
Live Action Movie [Harry Potter, Star Wars, Johnny Depp...] (Friday 5pm)
Overall Video Game (Friday 5:30)
The musical starts at 5 o'clock. Do you want these times moved?

Bleach (Saturday Noon)
Cosplay.com Members (Saturday 12:30)
Fruits Basket (Saturday 1pm)
FMA (Saturday 2pm)
Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts (Saturday 3pm)
Manga Characters (Saturday 4pm)
Masq check in is at 6, so a group can have the 5 and/or 5:30 time slot

Overall Shoujo Anime Shoot (Sunday Noon)
Overall Shonen Anime Shoot (Sunday 3 or 4, depending on when the chess game ends)
FMA part two (Sunday after shonen shoot)

Connecticon Forum Members

In the Naruto shoot thread there is talk of two shoots due to the popularity. Do you think any other show/game/manga/movie/etc. deserves this? Please post times and days of availability if you plan to wear a costume that fits in with any of these shoots or another possible one you'd like to suggest.

Shoots will take place in the open area in front of the dealers room (where I'll be posting the final, official sign of DOOM) because weather is unpredictable and it gives congoers easier access to photographing all your lovely faces (those not on the forums wanna see you too!). If you personally wish to have a shoot outside then feel fre to take it outside after!

Also, if you are interested in a shoot mentioned above or wish to make your own, please mention how many people you know of that can attend in costume. If you know you will be the only character then please do not ask for a shoot time. If you are a large grou of cosplayers that cannot make a shoot time, PM or e-mail me about it and I'll see what I can do.

AND ONE MORE THING
What do you guys wanna DO at these shoots? Want to get a picture of all the military people from FMA? Want a shot of just people from Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2?

Do you think FMA could be moved to Sunday? Having the Bleach, Naruto, and Final Fantasy shoots all on Saturday that might create problems, since they're all fairly popular..

Hey, if you split the Overall Anime Shoot into one shoujo and one shonen, can you make them not right after each other? Because since I have costumes from both shoujo and shonen anime - I would like to join both if I can.

Alright, I'll see what I can do. I figured nice overall shoots let peopel from lesser know/cosplayed shows to have a time to shine as well. For you personally, what day is better for each?

The only issues with Sunday is that the chess game takes up a big chunk of the day. The Saturday Naruto fan gathering was planned by members on this forum. I did most of the times beased on when people on the forums were already planning their gathering. Are you personally in two?

*nods* True, true. Sunday is good for both, just not immediately after one another. I think if they were an hour apart, at least, that would give me time to run back to my room and change. Maybe two hours to be safe, if that's possible. It's no biggie if ya cant ^^ I'm just like... a photoshoot junkie or something XD I like to join as many as possible.

I would be doing the FMA and the Naruto shoot on Saturday (since I may not be able to do the Naruto on Friday) .. but it's a big deal if it can't be moved. ^_^

I'm not sure, but I think having the shoujo at noon (ladies first) and shonen at 3 should work. If not then push back to 4. After I talk to people AT the con (I don't believe the time is finalized yet) I'll post official times on the board.

Uh.... um... ::head 'splodes:: I'd almost say it depends on who you're cosplaying. If you're being a guy, go for shounen. If you're a girl, go shoujo. It's the only thing I can think of because it's so in between. If I HAD to choose, I'd say shounen.

:D I thought it'd be shounen too. And I'll be cosplaying a guy character, so that works, I'll wear my Digimon costume (Joe) to the shounen shoot ^^.

don't you think one pm is a little early for a photoschoot? I mean that would make us work around the scedual, and I don't like doing that. Maybe it could be a later time. like two or four or sometime in between when nothing's going on.

Really? Personally I'm at a con by 9 am, and at Otakon shoots start at 10, and most other cons have them start by then or 11/12. I set it at that time because no one on the Gravi thread said anything about days or times, while other groups specified and therefor reserved their times.

So it DOES work for you? Because if it doesn't then you can request the shoot later in the day. I suggest you post again in the Gravi thread and ask what times people are available, or if you'd like I'll ask, since I'll be Tohma this year and would like to know as well. ^_^

I don't know who this may apply to, but i thought i'd put a reminder in here since this is the official shoot thread. For the Bleach, and the Fruits Basket shoots, people who will be in the costume contest as well should try to get there early when signing up for their time slots so they can make certain that they apply for a later (or earlier time judging so that they don't miss their shoots) Judging should be between 12 and 1:30 Saturday, which is why i thought i'd put this reminder on here since it coincides with both of those shoots.

No no, the photoshoot is just when you get together with people cosplaying from your series and everyone takes pictures. Costume judging is done in private and a craftsmanship judge asks you to explain how you made your costume. What the above comment is saying is that some people who need a costume judged may also have a photoshoot then (Fruits Basket and Bleach have mid afternoon shoots, which is when these judging interviews will be taking place). In short, the photoshoots and craftmanship judging are two very different things.

Actualy, since the other 2 people i'm dragging with me also are now entangled in the Costume judging portion, is there any way I could request a slightly later time? (I have to run this through the people who wanted to come but since were ony a few right now, and i know at least 3 of us will have to juggle the judging portion, etc... (I, and i can speak for at LEAST one of my friends (I've become temp. spokesperson for both of them on here since one isn't on/can only access the internet right now on a tiny psp, and the other is insanely busy) that we are interested in the Naruto Gathering.) Also we're in the Masquerade, and plan to screen/ hope to do SOMETHING (i'm not sure what yet - what we'll get in, if iether of them want to do chess, I know one was quite interested in the trial thing etc) I realy feel bad about causing more chaos about schedualing and confusion etc, but i figured i should ask. (otherwise i think we can still juggle if worse came to worse ^ ^)

Thank you for all the hard work planning you've already contributed by the way! I'll still try to help to whatever extent possible, by pointing out times that could cause issues, (like the rehersal and judging times) as early as i can (better this is disscussed NOW than 2 days before the convention right? ANyways, still sorry for throwing a glitch into the time works -

Ok then. Can we do it sometime before the Naruto shoot at two then? Because I really love the costume I'll be wearing before I change for the shoot (Helena, the dead ballerina from the My Chemical Romance video), and would like to wear it in a shoot if I could, and this would be the only one it could fit into since it's for forum members.
Noon would be best, if that's not too early for anyone.

I can put the cosplay.com shoot in at noon on Saturday, that would be fine. You could also say that your costume applies to the Live Action Movie one (I should change that to general live action).

I guess it could, but I plan on being in the Naruto shoot, so I wouldn't be able to wear Helena to that shoot. It'll involve a crazy makeup and spray-coloring my hair, so it's kinda a one-time a con wear costume. *shrug* But whatever, it's not like I won't be in the shoot, I'll still make it to the cosplay.com shoot w/ Reno.

Hey, LordAhsayuni here, Im running the Naruto Gathering, from this thread it says that there will be a friday 2pm shoot. The Naruto gathering will also be having its own shoot and all naruto cosplayers are welcome. We will start taking pictures on Saturday at 2PM outside of the dealers room.

This shoot will also include a Funny picture shoot so bring some fun props! If Magenta Fox can also post this in the 1st post that would be highly appreciated.

Hey - (actualy with friends right now - at the moment) We'll be gaining a Youruichi btw, BUT i would like to try and see if anyone is on now, who knows the open times, and would be willing to help figure out the re-schedual for the Bleach shoot - Since i can correspond directly with most of my people right now (and i'll be posting on my thread in a moment) it would be helpful to dacide upon a final time asap - the problem is that a few of us will be in judging (sometime between 12, and 1:30 pm Sat) and also i had intended to attempt going to Lord Ashayuni's Naruto gathering (i also think a few of the few people so far in our gathering will be going to the Naruto gathering as well if i remember correctly) and also we are in the competition (the ones i know will be in judging) This doesn't leave much good timing for a shoot, but i'll be happy to try and work with whatever - If worse comes to worse, A reminder to all doing the Judging, GO early, and get a useful time slot, so you can get to it earlier or later (as in go later if we're still at 12 noon, or earlier, if we are at any of the later times caught in that hour and a half)

I am being called right now, (i need to help a friend pin her cape,) so i will post again asap myself - I feel sincerely bad about causing any problems, or headaches for anyone with all of my schedualing problems -_- So i will check back in a bit -

Other people in other threads have expressed interest in certain times. The people in the Bleach thread (I believe) were asking for a Saturday time. The people in the Naruto thread asked for two shoots, one on Friday early afternoon, one on Saturday late afternoon. The people in charge of the Naruto gathering chose to have it, instead, at 2 pm, but there isn't anything I can do about that. If it overlaps with shoots or creates bad timing for you then you'd have to speak to them about it.

If the you and the other Bleach cosplayers wish to have a different time in an open time slot just tell me, but no matter what there isn't going to be a magical formula to make everyone happy and able to make it. So far no one else has complained about the current time, but as long as most of the people agree to that time I'll post it.

Also I know from past experience that judging does not take that long at all. As you said, go early and set a time that works best for you. But you also need to know what you wanna say ahead of time. As long as you do that you should have time in between shoots and events to get everything you need to get done alllll finished.

Rath Illucer
07-04-2006, 07:17 PM
right, then perhaps (also since time is so close to the con,) Let's stay with 12. I'll work around it and let the people with me know to get down for a later time rather than early, since i'd also like to try and get to the Cosplay.com shoot - i read the times already on the Naruto gathering, and i aprove, i just was trying to think, and type after 39 hours w/ no sleep (not counting my exactly 2 hr nap) done after getting only 5 hrs the night previously and THAT after staying up anouther 24 hr. I couldn't focus much but was hoping you had a suggestion perhaps so srry about that btw - thanks for being atient with me - i'm burning out this week it looks like (i'll sleep before the con though)

Hello. Connecticon has been nice enough to grant me the role of organizing and posting the days and times for the cosplay shoots.

Hey, I know it's a bit moot at this point, but I seriously spent an hour looking for you for the Manga Characters photo shoot that was supposed to be at 4 on Day 2. I asked all the Con Staff members I could find and not a single one of them knew where you would be holding it--the best answer I got was "possibly in Ballroom A," but they were running something else at the time (I think the AMV Contest). I was really looking forward to that. I had no idea this site even existed until after I got back home, so I didn't have any of the information that was on here. I literally combed the entire building trying to find you.

And naturally, I didn't. "Ouch, baby. Very ouch."

So I've just got some feedback in regards to the whole situation. Next year, if you do the same thing, write locations to go along with your times. Come on, dude. A cardboard sign that just lists themes and hours of the day does me no good.

Yeah. The convention volunteers tried to help me out, but even though they promised me a posterboard and an easle, in the end they told me to find my a cardboard box and some tape and see what I could do.

I'm sorry if you couldn't find me, but on top of the staff not being willing to help, I got a stern talking to from those running the Naruto shoot. There was a huge misunderstanding and they threatened to "go to a higher authority." Because I was entirely volunteer for what I was doing (I got permission to be the photoshoot coordinator, but nothing for it like supplies or free admission), I had to watch my own butt after that incident, and I did only the minimal things. I did, however, hold the sign above my head and walk around the lobby telling all those interested about what was going on.

Next year (if I do this again) I'll know to bring my own stuff to try to help out, but come con time a lot of things didn't come through for me. I had planned to attend the shoots and take pictures myself, but I didn't want to be accused of meddling a second time.

well how long have you been there for and who have you asked? because you have to know the right people to ask, and you can just take one and not ask because at that place on thursday, if you ask, you'll never get anything done, and i'll be more then happy to take that job off your hands, i've been going there for about five or 6 years now and know the ropes.

as a photoshoot courdantor, you can't just make up times you think is good for everyone else, you have to let the times come to you and then write them down. I think that's where you goofed. Because people want to work around their scedual. But if you don't want the job anymore I'll take over for you if you want me to, just tell me, and then I'll tell Mat or Brit.

and tape is never an issue there for us, we have so much ducktape we don't know what to do with it. - -

"Times come to you"? That's wishful thinking if I ever saw it. It's good to put an open call out, but if you left it entirely up to people to find out times, it'd be too much chaos to work out.

Personally, I think the schedule was pretty good, and while some people missed out, most made it in time. (Remembers the flood of KH/FF cosplayers) This year, it might be good to schedule some of the more popular series such as naruto and FMA ahead of time, and have a few blocks that people could sign up for for a time before the con.

gah...Part of me wants to help out and organize the shoots this year, but I *KNOW* when it comes down to it I don't want/trust myself with that responsibility. Anyone else willing to start a new thread, keep it updated, and then do what needs to be done at the con to organize people for shoots? Or is this already being taken care of on the official CTcon forums? (jeez I need to check them more often...)
