Ok so this might be a weird topic but I've recently found some really cool art pictures, on deviantart, of an original character an artist made up for Naruto. I was considering cosplaying as her and wanted to know if I should contact the guy about cosplaying as the naruto character he designed. I guess part of me is afraid he'll say no I don't want you to do that. But another part is hoping that he'll love the idea. I'm still not 100% sure that I want to cosplay as this character but it was an idea. What do you guys think?

I would ask if it was okay for you to cosplay the character since it is based on a fanart and is an original character. Most people take offence when you do anything with fanart and the like that they have posted online if you don't ask permission first. I've even known people to change the link for things when people 'steal' them from their sites. If you ask and he says 'no' then at least you asked him.

I would recomend creating your own character based losely on the character designs of this persons oc. I wouldn't copsplay their actual oc though.

if this person is anythign like me, chances are they are very attached to their OC's and so would like some form of contact with anyone wanting to cosplay them, especially seeking permission first and foremost.

But like Piptehghost said, i'd try and design your own OC first; perhaps take some influences from this one, but create a character you yourself can be attached to :)
