Do any of you ladies feel me on this one? I can honestly say that I could NEVER in a MILLION years pull off looking like a guy... bishounen, whatever. My bone structure is simply too feminine, and my body is also extremely feminine.

I actually DID attempt it one time. Put on some guyish clothes and a short wig and stuff.. did my best to strap down my boobies (that's another thing ...I'll get to it later ^^;..) and I took a pic like that. Needless to say everyone who saw that pic laughed their asses off at me. ;-; The general consensus was "never try that again." lol...

...on to the boobies thing. I am a C cup.. and.. yeah. Is it even possible to strap those down? I didn't have any luck at that. (albeit I *did* only try this once..) I'm just curious. I don't have the desire to crossplay in general... I like being a girlie girl... ^^;... BUT, after the failure of my experiment I was curious as all hell to know if any other cosplayers find it impossible to cross that gender barrier as well.

Meh. I've only ever done one crossplay, and I didn't think I would ever do one again. Now I've got 3 on my damned list I wanna do. I don't know if I can make a convincing guy, but if you really like a game/series and there aren't any female characters you like, it's sometimes the only way to express your insanity.

But yah, I have no idea if I make a convincing man, since I'm like, 5'1"!

No.....no nudity....I look awful nude ^^;;;
*blushes* Ah thanks...it's the 10 pounds of make-up ^^

As long as you aren't wearing a skin tight shirt, you can strap 'em down. It isn't hard. Of course, I have a friend who is quite busty yet somehow managed to make herself completely flat.. and I was slackjawed. ^_^; Squuuuiiiiissssh.

My chest hates me from all my crossplay.

Yaaaaaay I don't like the way I look. It's rare when I look at myself and think I'm pretty.
A lot of the time I'm on that edge where.. I can get the androgynous look down.. like with my Kuja costume. But I can't do guys that are very masculine. x_x I've started to put a lot of girls on my cosplay list and I'm starting to get discouraged that I'm simply not cute enough to cosplay them. ._. Or pretty. Feh. But I'm gonna start running out of androgynous guys...
I like makeup. >_>

Wow I don't think I added to the thread at all. I'm tired and depressed right now. ^^; Sorry. *goes to bed* o_x

Spooky, you do NOT look like a "saggy-faced grandma"!!!! You look cute!

I am personally of the opinion that if I pass at all (doubtful), I tend to look like a VERY girly-lookin' guy.

Ah, well. I have enough height to crossplay bish, at least - 5'8.5. Tall, skinny, small boobs, but have to HIDE the hourglass shape.

granted i cant get a hold of this one girl i know...but if i could she could tell ya alot about binding breasts. she one day got an idea that she wanted to dress like a guy, go to the mall hit on girls an get their phone numbers XD to make a long story short...she did in fact get phone numbers was that convincing *shrugs*. last time i remember...she mention duct tape (yes she had negative comments about that one) an ace bandages an something else an she was a c-cup at that time. ^^;; granted i wont be able to help personally...being i have the opposite issue an i dress like a girl XD

I have a friend like that. She demonstrated it to me and I was amazed. *laughs* Before, D cup. Then... squiiiiiish... all gone. O_O

> I tend to look like a VERY girly-lookin' guy.

I think most of us do. ^__^
Which is why the goal is to cosplay girly looking men. *laughs*

Most crossplaying girls would only pass at a convention, where the male ideal (for many fangirls) is the overly effeminate bishounen of anime. I mean, put Marron or Zoisite or even Dilandau on the streets, and most people would think they are girls.

> but have to HIDE the hourglass shape.

And it's not easy. ><

As for binding bigger chests, contact Celine, she does a lot of crossplay and I think is in your range.

I keep meaning to crossplay. I've had Allen from Escaflowne in planning for almost two years, and it just hasn't happened ^^;;. But yeah. I think I'd be pretty decent at crossplay. I'm tall, I'm flat-chested, and I don't have anything remotely akin to an hourglass figure :P. And I can look androgynous with makeup. :: points to Aeka costume in her database ::

Sigh. I just have to get sick of making pretty dresses until I get to crossplay ^^.

I wanan try crossplay one day but i think i'll go down the lines of what so and so would look like if they were a girl cos i dont think my boobs will ever vannish (handy for lara croft not so handy for beign a bloke)

mm but i have ideas...

Unfortunately, I have a very soft, fresh, distinctly feminine face. It doesn't matter how much I squish and pad my body, it doesn't matter what kind of wigs I wear. I look like a woman - and not one bit like a pointy-chinned anime character, either. This has annoyed me throughout life. I keep cosplaying whoever the hell I want, but I've accepted that I will probably never achieve the level of verisimilitude I'd like. I look Irish, I look three-dimensional and I look girly. I have to live with that. :)

I make an absolutely wretched boy, which is why I've pretty much given up crossplay. ^^; Goodness knows I'm tall enough (5'10"), but I've got huge hips and it just... doesn't work.

And Michi, you are mad cute. :O Don't think you're not pretty, because you are.

I have a large chest ~ DD. ^^; and I can get them to go away! I used to not understand quite how to do that, then someone told me the trick is to push UP with whatever you're wrapping with. I tried it and it wooooorked. so yeah... boobs go up then in, then they vanish. o.o;

I think the best characters for women to crossplay would be anime guys that wear jackets, cause that would help to hide the chest and hips. Of course that means you'll just look like a girl wearing a guy's jacket but that's just life:D Maybe that's one of the things that makes crossplay for both men and women so alluring is that for most of us it's next to impossible to pass as the opposite sex.

binding with tape, the right make-up, expression and taller shoes
makes the effect believable.

I feel you Miyu >.< I could never crossplay, I'm kinda short (5'3") and my body is all curvy and feminine...I dunno if I could pull it off. I have the same booby problem, too ^^;; they won't disappear no matter what I do! I'd like to try and crossplay to see if I could pull it off, but I doubt I could :\

*rolls round* I dunno, I have a feeling I might be able to pull it off..x_X; Just not a bishie. I'd need someone like..Sol Badguy or something, not like there's anything wrong with him! :D ( Besides that the ass wears white pants- therefore is postponed till I lose weight >_<() ) And yer, im like everyone else who can't bind, seeing as im getting close to a D something o.o , but I still can't bind myself right.. T_T;;; Ace isn't working for me, and I havn't tried anytape...

I'll do that here in a minute ^_^;; Im finding it hard for me to find people I can cosplay , im to lumpyness, so its either people like Sol, or girls in Lots of Robes *__*;'But I like robes.....bwee Oh, and anyone think 5'6 is to short for crossplaying? ^^;;;;

And I love Carrie~ *tackles her*

Anyway. Yes. I think what Soshi said is what my friend did. Eheheh is that what you were doing when you were changing at last AX? o.o;

As for the height thing y'guys? PLATFORMS! YES! I'm 5'5" and use 5 inch platforms as Kuja to make myself a sexy 5'10" bad guy. :P Then I get too used to wearing them and feel extensively short the rest of the day after taking them off...

Michi~ thank you and I tell the truth!

I'm 5'4, I'm a shortie, but not to bad. I have a interesting booby problem. When I cosplay/reg. clothes, I got none, but then when I crossplay, there they are, like they know this is the time that I need to look like a guy the most!
For my Tasuki costume, I got these nice boots to help my height a bit! ^^

I'm in the same boat ha ha .. I tend to crossplay characters with loose clothing. I do it for the fun of it not really the goal of looking like a complete man.

Lynch

*cracks kuckles* well apparently I manage to pull of the lookin like a guy thing pretty good. People still mistake me for a man at cons. Actually I could telll a few stories about that... first time I did a decent crossplay (Youji from Weiss) one of my current best buds not only thought I was a guy, but hoped I was single. And then there was that time dressin as a girl and people at my high school of the time thought i was a guy in drag. They didnt even realize it was me till I told them.

And the straping of the boobs thing. Well I know lots of things a lot of people do. Personally myself I either use A) my insta bind which it this huge peice of velcroing elastic my pops found at a goodwill exactly for that purpose or B) a mixture of a a sports bra, a strap of wide elastic to lift my boobies, more sports bras, maybe an ace bandage or two and top with a sports bra. It works to give that "man boob" look as I call it. I've done flat before... but that lead to me almost passing out.. which equals an unhappy me.

But yes, if ya wanna see, I'll put my cosplaylab piccu links here.. cause I'm too lazy and haven't loaded anything else really.

eh? me? changing? no, I never bothered to try and strap myself down at AX, because I was lazy o_O; do you mean when I ran around in a brown skirt-thing and a ton of black wraps? that was the remains of my Yasha-costume-that-never-was, coupled with no sleep for three days and like half a case of Dr. Pepper...

I can't wait to do my first crossplay... soon! I'm more of a Haruka Tenoh but I suppose I can look manly if I tried really hard ^^;; my small B cup is easily squished and my hair is short in a bishounen way. I have an okay figure but it's easily to hide. Crossplay sounds like lots of fun ^_^

Michi
03-07-2003, 01:21 AM
Yes, I was thinking of the Yasha.. costume.. thing. ^_^; Because it was interesting to watch you get on. ^^;;; Whee!

Crossplay is fun. I can't remember any instances while I was at a con, but I've seen people on message boards wonder endlessly about my gender from costumes like Squall or Kuja. o_O It amuses me to no end.

I'd like to share something I seen on television a little bit ago. If anyone caught this special documentary on A&E, it was called "Role Reversal" and they took two girls and two guys and switched their genders, filming the whole process. One of the ladies on there, who was a comedian, had a pretty good idea. She had a somewhat large chest and wasn't able to get them down completely, so what she did was to build up below her chest so it would match with some more ace bandages. Worked really well! The women in that show had it so easy compared to the guys.. ^^;; Even the experts the show quoted said women have an easier time in general.. ^^;;;

VPMiyu

Assuming you are comfortable in your born gender I would suggest, in my humble opinion, that one be as kind to their bodies as possible.

I think it is geniunely unique and endearing that people are creative and that they play role reversal at times. With compassion and respect it could heal the world.

I've played many roles in my life. All sorts of roles. Now I am working really hard on my biggest role of all: Being myself.

Good health is something one is blessed with and in my humble opinion one might consider be very careful.

You don't necessarily think that something as simple as taping down your chest could harm you, but it can over a long period of time.

Its the same thing as smoking. One cigarette won't hurt you, but over a period of time they will.

I find crossplay kinda hard as a D-cup with a large frame. I'm the right height, but just about the only guy I could successfully crossplay is Hiko, or maby Zagato or Illapallazzo. I just go as bishies who went on an all-protein diet ^^;

Don't be silly miyu.

I've seen your pics. Boobs are not a problem, as others have already said. And making your face look more masculine isn't that hard either. just remove the eye and lip makeup and just use eyeliner to make your eyebrows thicker. It's neat how different makeup techniques can really change your appearance.

Heeeeeyyyy....
First off I have a slight height problem... 5'0" >,<
Second I have huge hips...and I don't know how to get rid of them help me!
and lastly my walk is just too feminine...arghhhh...but I'll going to try and pull squall off....wish me luck...a lot of it!!!

I kind of look like a very small boy, a very cute tiny one!, but my voice is kind of high pitch and you can tell I'm a girl. I'm kind of flat chested so I don't have to put much efort into hiding what I've got because it is'nt much! *laughs*

I guess it's up to the person.
But I think a lot of girls can pull off the bishounen thing, if they try. *shrug*

I do it, but then again I'm not the prettiest girl. So it works. ^^

As fro strapping down, it's NOT that hard, unless you want to wear a skin-tight shirt.

My friend is DD-cup and we made her into a convincingly flat-chested boy. Sure, she had a lose shirt on, but that is a FEAT when you're DD!!! *dies*

So, yeah.

i talked about this on the crossdressing to fufill fantasies thread.... and I don't think I could pull it off. I wouln't want to, but seriously... like I said... with my blessed/cursed bust... I don't think If I tried to bound my Ds there would be anywhere for them to go.

Cutting off circulation of blood? I don't think anyone straps down THAT tightly for crossplay... dear god at least I hope not!

It's just that when I have to strap myself for things like Kuja, it's a fun process of pulling up and down and just... the poor things are so squished they don't even feel it anymore.

Hmmm... I only do it a cons too, and I'm not any "squishier"... That might just be hormonal growth changes.

I haven't noticed that I don't "feel it" so much as I've gotten better at getting the bandage tension more comfortable but still working.

Mmmm it might be that too. I went from tape over a tanktop to just using ace bandages.. and it was less painful and easier. So maybe it's that. But I do know they're "used to it". ^^; Because when I push them down noncrossplaying friends go "oh my god oww!" to look at me o_O
