I fear that if I drive down with my friends we'll end up getting lost. I'm thinking of taking the greyhound bus down to Otakon and then walking from the station.
With my friends and my lack of directional skills, we'll probably get lost. I figure that a few people'll be bussing it down to Otakon and if people are arriving around 4:35 it'd be cool to walk down to the center in a group. Safety in numbers, get to meet new people and helps prevent getting lost!
SO ah..anyone bussing it down there?

I would be except that it's a 10 hour trip down as opposed to the 6 1/2 hour train ride. No contest there. On the Otakon website there is a section about getting to the con center from the stations/ airports in the baltimore area. You can get your directions there. As I recall, its only around a 4 block walk from the station as opposed to the 16 from the train station (*hot and miserable*).

::raises hand::

I'll most probably go greyhound cuz I love getting ripped off from them...

Anyway, if I get a car by then, then I might try driving to MD... but I doubt....

Driving there isn't THAT terrible - coming up will be my 4th time in the driver's seat, and I95 (which I assume most east coasters will travel on) is amazingly easy. It's when you get in sight of the city, go through the tunnel, etc. that it gets frustrating, if only because the people on the road at that point suck. But if I remember correctly, it's two turns in the downtown area, and you're RIGHT at the convention center. (And if you miss your turn, it's amazingly easy to retry it by circling the block).

If my mom won't take me herself (in case I get grounded or something ><) my friends and I have our backup plan which is greyhound... so there's about a 10% chance I'll be taking it even though I HATE public transportation.

It's a straight walk from the edge of the block the Greyhound station is on towards the convention center. The only year we had to take a detour walking was the year they were excavating the street from the train wreck. It's really easy if you just follow the old skywalk structures towards the inner harbor.

A word of warning, if you're taking Greyhound on the sunday after the convention to the NorthEast areas, specifically to the port authority in nyc... expect at the LEAST a two hour delay. I gave them the three strike policy, and every year it was the same, late. One year we ended up waiting in the station for nearly 5 hours on that sunday for our bus that never came. So this year, I think I'm flying in just for sanity's sake on the return trip.

I live in the midwest, I'll be taking a different route than most people. But I guess If I do take it I don't have to worry about the delay. It's good to know that it's really easy to walk from the greyhound termina to the convention center ^^
