There are several hotels around it. The closest one is the Embassy Suites, that is right next door. Walk out the door, walk a hundred feet, walk into the center. I think that is roughly $100 a night, but the rooms are huge. That is the only hotel I know of since it is the one we stay in. It does have a dealer's room and actually it is a pretty decent sized one for such a small convention. I don't have pocky but the dealers room will ^^

There are several hotels across the street from the convention center. A good place to start would be to look up the Hampton Roads Convention Center, or to look for hotels in that area off I-64 in Hampton. We stayed in a Holiday Inn last year that was more modest in price than the main hotel--which is $129/night, plus 13% tax (three nights, total, is $437 and some change after taxes, I believe)--but the amenities weren't as good. (Microwave and fridge, but kind of ... grungy and run-down moreso.)

If you have people going with you who can split room cost, I would recommend just staying in the Embassy Suites ... it's much closer to the convention center--none of the others are within /reasonable/ walking distance (unless you want to jog a couple of blocks in a costume), and traffic can be insane if other things coincide with the con--like the Kanye West concert right across the street last year. u_u;;; (So annoying.)

As for the pocky, I wouldn't count on finding much of it at the con. The dealer's room last year was not allowed to sell pocky; no one was supposed to have any outside food because of some kind of contract/stipulation they apparently had with the convention center, which has its own concession stand inside the massive room where the dealer's room is set up.

dont worry this year they have got a new person running the convention center, and they are allowing the candy and i beleave even the drinks so this year we can have loads of pocky fun.

plus there going to move the dance this year to solve the "llights on" problem, dont know where though

That's a relief. As neat as it was that the rave felt kind of like it was in an airplane hangar, it just wasn't dark enough to make the glowsticks fun. In addition, the panel that I helped run last year had a minor problem where, when we tried to turn the lights off for a video screening, they kept coming back on. @.@;

We pretty much walked around all last year with food, drinks, etc., and no one said anything to us, but I know it was supposed to be against the rules to help promote their concession stand. We had Starbucks, Subway, and Olive Garden on a few different occasions. Lol.

In fact, we were actually eating our Subway at the Fullmetal Alchemist panel last year ... I went to sit in the corner so no one would see me eating (I was dressed as Roy), and someone came and followed me. ;.;
