Short, white gloves. Opera gloves are a good choice. But as for the transmutation circle wasn't Roy Mustang the only one with them on his gloves? You can buy Flame Alchemist gloves.

I agree, opera gloves are a great choice.

Yes, Mustang's white gloves were the only ones that had the red transmutation circles on them, unless you count Armstrong's "steel gauntlets." The only other example I can think of is the female antagonist from the movie (trying to avoid spoilers), she gained circles on the bottom of hers, even though she wasn't technically a state alchemist. Other than those three examples, the standard gloves are white. ^^;

Sol Shadow1, if you are looking for Armstrong's gloves, you can also buy them officially licensed. Try looking on eBay or in Hot Topic stores (my HT carries Flame and Armstrong gloves.)

I actually went through a couple pairs of gloves for my Al costume. I started off with the thin white gloves you can pick up at any party or costume store but they were pretty low quality.
I actually found a really great pair of tuxedo gloves from a thrift store (I believe they were $3.50) and they're a really nice material and fit great-I would recommend starting there! I know gloves can cost up to $40 on Ebay (FOR GLOVES! WTF) so look around before settling on anything : D

Here's what mine look like. (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=910527) (Don't click if you haven't seen the movie :P)
