View Full Version : Making Katou's Cross

So since I've picked up reading Angel Sanctuary again (I'm currently in the middle of vol 14), I'm now all gung-ho about doing costumes for it. The easiest-- and most fun, since he's my favorite-- is going to be Katou.

But there's one major problem, and that's how to go about crafting his cross. I don't have on hand any of the manga in which he uses it, but from what I remember it looked like it was made of clear glass. The line of logic this leads me to is to then make it out of some sort of clear plastic. I can find clear plastic rods on ebay easily enough (oh ebay, is there anything you CAN'T do?), but I'd have no idea how to weld them together or otherwise attach them... aside from tying them together, which wouldn't be as entirely authentic. In any case I'd probably need to cut one down in length.

Thoughts?

Bump, and a note: if anyone has an easier suggestion for how to make it, I'm all ears ;)

No need to bump after just a day or two. Specific questions sometimes take a little while to get answered.

When posting questions of this nature, it's a very good idea to post reference photos. Many of the people capable of helping you haven't always seen/read everything out there.

as a quick note, take a look at this stuff:

Can't find any pictures on a Google search, but I can show you this:
ZakuKitty (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=715929) made one. Here's a second picture (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=732654). I already PMed her, hoping for a reply :)

Thanks very much for that :) My only other question would be:

When you order from Tap Plastics, can you ask them to cut the rod into specific lengths before they send it (even if it is for a fee--I don't have my own equipment to do so)? And if not, is there another site that will do this for you?

And if not that could I just take the rod to a hardware store and ask them to do it there?
