I didn't see any tips for long lasting curl in normal hair upon the search, just for wigs, so hopefully I'm not repeating a thread. Sorry if I am!

Anyhow, I want to put my hair up in ringlets for a character. But, my hair is really, really fine. In general, it only maintains its full curl for about fifteen minutes (yes, I do use hairspray) when it is as long as it is right now.

So, I was wondering if anyone had tips for keeping super slippery hair in curls for all day? It would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have this problem, too x3
I haven't found anything to remedy this situation yet, but when I do, I'll share my knowledge.

My sister has naturally thick/wavy sort of hair, but she put hers up in tight twists on top of her head one day and went to sleep on it, and the curls afterwards were ridiculous! Took about an hour to brush her hair >.> Of course, they used enough hair spray to put a hole in the ozone layer. My point is, is that I'm going to try something similar and see if it works. :3

I have the same problem. What I usually do is use an unhealthy amount of hairspray and only do little pieces at a time. Make sure you have some way to keep the rest of your hair separate and work from the bottom up.

Take the small section of hair, spray it with a good dose of hairspray and curl it. Then, right after you take the curling iron away (carefully since your curl is gunna be a smidge crunchy...) spray it some more. Proceed with the rest of the hair the same way. Then do any hair style you may need. Then add more hairspray XD

That's the only way I can make mine stay AT ALL with a curling iron. What works better for me is hair rollers I can sleep in (or at least it used to when I was younger). Just put them in when you hair is wet.

I use mousse instead of hairspray. Try different hair products, and see if they might work better - people usually forget about mousse, but it works REALLY well for fine, soft hair.

I would suggest wetting your hair, putting it in curlers/rollers, and sleeping on it (or if you need your curls later in the day, blow-drying it). And use hairspray.
But I have really straight hair, and I know your plight - my hair never stays curled more than an hour at most. There isn't much you can do about it.

a spray of water, then some hairspray, brush it, straightener curl it and then alot more hairspray

do this for each curl

I know this is an older thread, but I wanted to offer a suggestion. I too have very fine hair and my hairdresser managed to get it into ringlets that lasted two days when I got married. What she used was a spray starch. NOT hairspray...not mouse...SPRAY STARCH. You spray the stuff on (saturating the hair if need be) and then heat style it. If you do it right, it should hold up pretty well and you can follow up with hairspray if necessary.

A wet set will last much longer then a heat set. Forget hot rollers and curling irons, wet your hair and run mousse though it. Roll it up tightly while it's still wet, and allow it to dry naturally. Carefully unroll once it's completely dry and spray with some hairspray. This should last at least the day.

If your hair is like mine, the only thing that helps hold curls is oodles of styling product. My hair is naturally stick straight, but for a wedding the stylist used mousse in my hair first, curled it in small sections, pinned the curls in place, then shellacked it when she was done. Yes, your hair won't be very soft to the touch, but your curls will not go anywhere. Guaranteed.

I had to shampoo my hair 3 times that night to get the curls and hairspray out. It was crazy.
