Well, I figured I might as well start this thread before anyone else does. I'll be updating things closer to the con. But yeah... Here's the Otakon 2009 Gravitation gathering thread. It's just a baby now, but in time it will grow up to be big and strong.

NOTICE (3-26-09):
I don't really know how to say what I'm feeling without coming off as angry (on the contrary, I'm actually upset, mostly with myself really, and trying not to cry). I was attempting to prevent any complications like what happened last year by having our gatherings be pretty solid ahead of time so there was no confusion. I got in trouble for letting people change the location at the last minute and some people either didn't make the gathering, couldn't find it or showed up late. I got a severe ear lashing, despite not making the decision to move and I was very much hurt. As that was the case, my plan was to make sure that these times and this place was fine for the gatherings, and I'd had no complaints, those are good times, everyone from last year agreed and as it will be indoors there's no chance of smoke bothering anyone. Unfortunately, this means I'm getting a lashing about not being flexible. I honestly try my very best to do what will work out the very best for the gathering in the end, as a majority. I'm on the verge of a mental break down, I'm really sorry, I'm trying so hard to make this as simple and easy as possible and it's obviously not working. I'm sorry.

Rules:

1. Unlike the creator of the last Gravi thread, I will check this thread and update regularly.
2. We will discuss time and place in this thread. However, when we come up with the best compromise my word is final and I will NOT change anything once we've set our gatherings.
3. I, FireBlackDragon/Amber, will lead the gathering. So PLEASE leave any at-the-gathering decisions up to me. However, I do NOT plan on making any last minute changes at the con.
4. Don't just randomly shout for people to do certain poses, group shots, etc. Leave that to ME as well (we'll discuss this more in the thread later). Once we've gotten all the "general" posing out of the way, by all means, ask ME to direct the gathering/specific cosplayers for whatever photo ops you want. Once the gathering has dispersed/ended you can consult any of the cosplayers on your own.
5. We will wait ten minutes for any slackers before starting the gathering/photoshoot.
6. Most important rule: HAVE FUN! (And don't be rude to anyone, please, please, we all try to do our best.)
7. No actual smoking please.

Short wigs aren't very expensive, and putting hair into the wig cap is less difficult than it may seem. I'd be willing to help joo!

I meant mom would be mad if I didn't use the wig I bought for Noriko which was $40. So I have to be Noriko at least once with that wig. I have to bleach it yet though (well, I'm going to bleach streaks in it so it'll look somewhat closer to her actual hair color). Damn wig company... see if I buy there again... -_-

But I will certainly put Rage on the back burner. ^_^

Eeep, be careful with that! I'm not entirely sure how well bleaching a wig will go, but.... Meep. Check Katie Bair or the Wig and Hair forums first. Also, where'd you get the wig?

The wig isn't bad, the customer service was. I got the wrong color and I was willing to pay the price to have it returned for the color I wanted, but the company couldn't seem to get back to me (at the times I said I'd be available on their answering machine). *Shurgs* It'll be fine though.

I'm going to re-do her shirt but that will have to wait till summer when I'm not in school. ^_^;

Right now I'm in a panic about what to pack for my dorm. I leave for Towson Uni the 28th. I never thought I'd be excited to get a dorm (they don't look all that glamorous, you know?) but I am... o_0; Wish me luck guys!!

I see nothing wrong with liking what you like. It doesn't matter if your the preppiest or most emo kid in the world. As long as you like it, you enjoy it, it doesn't hurt you, and you come up for air once in a while, then no one has any right to be down on you for it...including yourself, ne? ^_^ And you can always make more friends to go along with the ones you already have. I mean...friends are like shoes. You can never have too many. (Same rule applies to anime of course ^_~)

I mean, I don't have anything to update about this thread right now and I know everyone's excited because Ota just ended. I think it's about time to take a break, for me (plus I have AUSA plans to make), don't worry I'll peek in now and then and I won't leave the gathering hanging. I think it's pretty normal for the threads to go weeks on end without any posting.

I'll be around for any emergency questions or such. But by all means, keep up the anime/Otakon/Gravi talk. The thread needs love too.

Well, just so you know, I'm getting my gathering leadership training in. Thanks to AUSA and my up coming Angel Sanct. gathering at Katsucon.

I'm currently working on Dorothy Catalonia's White Fang uniform for Katsucon (and possibly Otakon), so nothing much is going into Noriko at the moment. No worries, come summer things will move quicker.

I'm pulling Hiro out of retirement and bringing him back. My friend (Lil Shu, if you guys remember her from Otakon 06) will be bringing Suitcase Shuichi, and her bf will be Yuki.

Even though Lil Shu and her bf will pretty much be in Gravi cosplay all con, I'll only be in Hiro on Friday.

I thought about Hiro once, but I'd need to get my hair professionally straightened... Or dye one of my wigs cuz, honestly, I love you guys, be Gravitation isn't my all time favorite anime to cosplay from, let alone drop the moneys for. XD

I hear about the dropping money part. My Robin cosplay is going to be Expensive~. But, to sew Hiro's cheetah print shirt and to re-find his wig (my friend destroyed my old one...T_T), is going to be more money.

Plus, I'm helping Lena with her Suitcase Shuichi outfit. Found the suitcase, just gotta cut the holes in it and spray paint it yellow.

I'll only be able to make the Friday night shoot, but Lena and Ji might be able to make the Saturday shoot. And, just out of curiosity, why not the 3rd Floor Outdoor Terrace? I've had several successful shoots there and no one's really had an issue with it. Also, what are you going to do if someone BIG comes in for an autograph session or a concert during the scheduled photoshoot times. IMO, I wouldn't have made final times this early out.

And you don't have until the last minute to plan. I'm sure we're all going to be on here the week before when the schedule is posted. But, it's totally up to you. Just be ready that if something happens during the scheduled times, that majority of the crowd here won't show up.

Planning events is about being flexible and trying to make the majority work for everyone in the end, right? Just chill out and be ready to have fun, that's what these photoshoots are about right? It's not such serious business, really...

Sure, why not? I'm still trying to get BOTH my gay boyfriends (yes, they're my boyfriends XD) to cosplay from Gravi. They've been wanting to, but last year Glenn forgot his pants for Shuichi, so I only had Joey as Tohma and he hadn't even planned on being Tohma! He was supposed to be Yuki! (We slapped his costume together in the hotel fifteen minutes before the gathering!! I'm NOT even kidding. We used the tape from my Anbu costume to make the suspenders and used Glenn's fedora which he brought for the rave!! XD)
