Another cosplay-ish event coming on up after PCC is the Matsuri Fest! It's during the last weekend in Feb.

I used to live in Tucson, but my dad worked up at the Foothills High School and he hated it. So we moved. XD I live in Safford now. Any cosplayers in Arizona going to Anizona in April? :3

Counting my friends who have only cosplayed once, there are only three cosplayers in Safford that I know of. T_T I thought I saw a Misa Misa cosplayer at a Halloween dance once, but she was just a hillbilly . . .

Hmmm... AniZona... I'll probably just attend on Saturday. There are a few things that make me reluctant to stay for the whole event... It takes place on Easter weekend, and the hotel prices are fairly high.

As for Sabotencon (which will take place in October), there I plan to attend the whole convention.


Oh, yes, I'm one of the cosplayers who hails from Tucson. It seems like Phoenix is where a lot of the action is... though last year we had a nice little event called AnimeTucon. Hopefully it will return this year.

Sometimes our workshops are themed or will have a specific demo. You are still welcome to bring in projects that don't relate to this. This Tucsonian would like to add that they will be having one more event before the spring semester ends. It will be Saturday, April 25th from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the University of Arizona in the Harvill Building auditorium (room 150).
I think I'll use my Makoto Shishio (Rurouni Kenshin) costume one more time at this event, after which I will probably retire that costume. (You see, I have plans to make a Capt. Byakuya Kuchiki (Bleach) costume this summer... And I plan to convert Shishio's katana (Mugenjin), to Byakuya's zanpakuto (Senbonzakura)).

Cool. One of my friends that is going with me is toying with the idea of cosplaying a moogle as well. Assuming I get approved time off from work, I plan to go as Fran on day one and 1/2 of day two and Mugen the later 1/2 of day 2 and of course day 3.

I remember your group at AniZona! I was Yoruichi. Anywho... Ill be at AX09 as yoruichi again on Friday for about 1/2 the day for the bleach gathering and will most likely change into my Fran costume afterwards. Since I spent so much time/money on Fran I want wear that damn costume as much as possible, therfore i will be Fran saturday too. Our groups can kick it for a bit if you want.

I'm Really new to cosplay...have no clue on how to even start.

Take a few series you like and take your fav characters from them. Start simple and work your way up.
You should start with maybe one outfit and then you can go to maybe two to three for a con.
For basic fabrics - cotton / linens are good ones to start with.
But for really basic techniques, try going to thrift stores to putting together outfits.

I'm really just wondering if there are any Yu-Gi-Oh! cosplayers planning to go to Saboten-con, since it would be kind of odd being the only YGO cosplayer there.

Although this isn't my frst con, It is my first Saboten. I wouldn't worry about being 1 of a kind, actually I anticipate being the only Mugen (samurai Champloo) in attendance, Hell i haven't seen anyone on this site or the saboten.com forum post that they were comming as any SC characters.

A costume is highly encouraged but not required! There will be nice scenery and multiple photographers to get good shots of your costume. If you can, please wear your Pokemon gijinka costume for group photos! This is the photoshoot "theme" but feel free to come in any costume you like.

Lunch will be potluck style. If you plan to eat, please bring something to share.

And places where you can buy the clothes for a cosplay (because I can’t sow)?Thrift stores (such as Goodwill) are good places to find cheap clothes for cosplay - cause, why would you want to pay a high price for clothing you're going to cut, paint, or what have you...
As for where to find cosplay materials... well, that depends on what type of materials you're looking for. For example, Michaels sells craft foam and you could find plastic piping to make props at Lowes or Home Depot.

And I'll be at the SunaCosu cosplay picnic dressed at Lt. Col. Roy Mustang from Full Metal Alchemist, so look for me there (if you're going).

I’m going to Saboten-Con thanks to a co-worker and I feel like I’m taking advantage of my friendship. Should I still go with her? I mean she offered the ticket and I sort of took it. All I said was that “when I earn enough money to buy a ticket, can I ride up there with you and maybe stay in your room?”

There is going to be an audio piece that has cosplay in it on October 9th, 2009(*) on 89.1 FM. I don’t know when it is going to be on air, but I think it will be on at 8:00 am. And it will be also airing on Saturday, I don’t know that time. It will be on the website a few days later here Voices Community Stories Past and Present, Inc. (http://www.voicesinc.org/)


Oh and I am going to Saboten-Con this year.
