Okay, dumb question. I'll admit it up front.

When making a sleevless leotard, are you supposed to fully line it? The fabric I'm using is 96% cotton and 4% lycra and is very nice to the touch, but I'm wondering if it will show through when pictures are taken while I'm wearing my costume. If you're supposed to line leotards, do you use stretchy fabric or standard 100% polyester lining?

Thanks!

With any leotard i've ever owned only the portion between the legs and the bust area have a second layer of fabric.

Yes, you should line (especially for light colours) as camera flash can go right through fabrics. You should line a stretchy leotard with stretch fabric, or it won't stretch anymore. ;) Many fabric stores sell swimsuit lining, or you can just double up your leotard fabric.

Definitely not 100% polyester lining - unless you've created a garment of stretch material that doesn't actually need to stretch and needs the support of a fabric that won't.

Which doesn't sound like the case.

It really depends on the fabric - perhaps you should take some test pictures and evaluate if you need to or not ? :)

Alright, due to the suggestions I'm going to fully line the leotard. I'm going to need more fabric though since I only had enough for my boot covers and leotard, but it's okay as long as the stuff I ordered arrives before Otakon (if it doesn't, I'll have to use purple stretch fabric for the lining and pray no one sees :crylaugh:!

Thanks!
