First off, I'd like to thank everyone for helping to make the game shows happen. The vendors, the staff, and (especially) the audiences made it all come to be.
"Anime Name that Tune" welcomed "Darcy-chan The Monster" to represent Ohayocon at the 2005 "Anime Name that Tune Championship." She's also a winner for Ikasucon 2003 at this upcoming Katsucon championship - making her the first two-time winner. Whether she can stand up against other winners like Ohayocon's Chantal Cowen (winner from Ohayocon 2003) or not will be determined. That event will be Friday at 9pm in main events and quite possibly may be the biggest game show event in North American anime convention history! Now, to make sure that I never use another GUNDAM song again...
"Otaku Family Feud" was a whole other story...
It all started with Alona Frankel's "Once Upon a Potty" (boy version). As a whimsical last-minute decision, this book was read (wonderfully, might I add) to the audience whilst we finished the pre-game scoring. That was absolutely priceless, and will most definitely be remembered by many of us. Maybe there's something to this idea... hmmm...
Secondly, the game featured Mario (backed up by Ganondorf the Thief, cowardly) taking on his pimpin' brother, Luigi. By the end, Luigi's group pulled off a miraculous come-from-behind victory at the last minute with the help of knowledge, a key "Kenshin" guess, and his infamous charge-up head-torpedo attack. Every Weeg has his day, after all.
Then, Luigi was rewarded with the entire DVD set to "Fruits Basket" (with DVDs given to his family/team) and a special donation of the pre-release of "Galaxy Angel - Volume One" DVD was rewarded to the family head of Mario's group. That isn't even released until April 2004!
The jokes rolled on, and the fun never stopped. However, I'd like to hear what everyone thinks about the games and what we may bring in the future!
I assure you - we had one of the best game show experiences yet!
