I like August. Just the weekend after Otakon is bad for me since I have to go down the shore for a week >_<. I hate the shore -_-. I'm down there too much and it gets boring after awhile. A good thing about it though is DDR at the arcade XD;

Okie so we got 3 votes for August as of now...which is good, because it's like retardly convient. I'm thinking like 2 weeks after Otakon, because we'll all have sum cash back in our pockets, seeing how college and other skewling will be starting up soon.

And yes, there is nothing going on besides AX and Otakon that I know of in July. And having an event the week after a con (escpecially one where 95% of us at worst estimate are going to), cause a lot of us are going to be piss broke, and just plain tired. So while it seems like an ideal idea for an after party, this can work aganist us. I could say the same thing for AX, but I rather have one or two people (like myself) be poor than the whole lot of us.

If you want to have it in August (though August is the month of desert like weather) then I would suggest the next Saturday after, which would be August 14th. Though July 10th is still a much better date IMO.

XD Well, hopefully I won't have up and left for Florida by the time the next picnic rolls around, but I do understand that the event must be voted on by the vast majority and not just a group of people. ^^; Oh! And I love the avatar, Victor! ^^ I might wear DOOM Arc Mai to the next picnic cept I do not want to get that all wet in a water fight...>< Eh, I can change I guess DURING the water fight to avoid that. Ah I saw no Aug but thats me as ya I won't have any money cause of school going to start and like Otakon is going to take it all I can guarntee that. But you know I think that we should pic a date and if people can't come ya like the last one just pic a date I like July 10 cause its not to close to Otakon and far enough away from Anime Next so I think I agree with Stud on that one.

Which will be the premiere for DOOM Arc Mai. ^^ Once I'm done that I'll do Casino Mai, then Battle City Mai...so many choices. ^_^ Anyhoo, I really am hoping for the best, have to think of what I'd bring to the picnic next time around...and location having to be decided, but I'll be patient. ^^

If you have a picnic in the middle/end of august there's a decent chance that will make it so there's no fall picnic. Having one picnic 4-6 weeks after another would probably hurt the attendance of both, so one wouldn't happen. A july date allows for summer and fall.

Though the more you look at it, the more you realize that there will be NO IDEAL date for everyone. No matter what happens, someone is going to miss out, and someone is going to be unhappy. So at this point, the needs of the many should outweigh the needs of a few.

pretty much everyone here loves Harry Potter or wouldn't be adverse to seeing it, right?

Why not have it the weekend of the 4th, when it comes out. There are no major conventions around here then, and it's right after the BIG WEEK (there are like a billion cons that week). Also, we could picnic and then go see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (probably for like the 7th time).

Seriously, it's just something to think about. Also, I liked the park, but I know some GORGEOUS places in Jersey. They also have a huge park area and a small area with lot's or trees.

I really liked this one, I can't wait again. It was also a blast to work with so many of you photography wise (must say thanks again). I seriously might enter one of the photos from the picnic in a photo contest, I mean I know I will lose, but I think there are some gorgeous Ed Elric, Bun shots, and esp Elysia (the Ham Ham). In other news, how many people here are going to a convention this month. There are so many, I think this and July are the 2 largest months. of mid season conventions.

i think it's better to only have 2 picnics. just because you want one doesn't mean someone should plan one RIGHT after having one. there are A LOT of events coming up, starting this month. throwing a picnic will only add more stress... esp for oshi. he has to plan it and such, run it, PLUS make costumes, attend a bunch of cons, WORK, school (well, it'll be over, but who knows... maybe summer classes), see his gf (who lives in another state), and so on.

i know the group down here doesn't mind either way if there's a picnic or not. it's not the end of the world. we'd rather use a saturday or sunday before otakon to work rather than hang out. that's crunch time!!!! lol

imo, if you guys are so eager to get together... then... get together. it doesn't have to be a picnic and doesn't have to be planned by oshi.

summer is a terrible time to have one.... hot/muggy as shit, con preparations, vacations, jobs (a lot of people pick up summer jobs), and so on. i'd rather wait and enjoy the anticipation of then next picnic then to rush into one.

oh, and i hope no one took any of that the wrong way. it wasn't intended that way. just merely stating facts. ^^ okay... i'm gonna go hide now.

This is the reason why we shouldn't get ourselves involved with other states affairs, because it seems there just as/or even stupidier than every event the NYO! tries to throw. Seeing how everyone rejects a suggestion 3 posts after the idea is approved, I'm backing out of suggesting any event in Philly,
sticking to running/ruining any events in my own backyard. Maybe I'll come down to fall one, but down hold your breathe. Rymel, if you wanna plot something in the NY/NJ area, you know where to find me.

i know i'm the one who said something about waiting until the fall and skipping the summer. i never chimed in on the whole having a summer picnic when it was mentioned. as for the people that agreed with me, they are the ones that also haven't mentioned anything about wanting a fall picnic... unless i missed it. all of us have been discussing it off line and agreed about skipping the summer.

also, i posted in my last post that if people wanted to get together, then get together and that you don't need to wait for oshi's picnic. the NE cosplay picnic is HIS thing. that's why people look to him for some closure.

as for the con season closing social life... i beg to differ. now that these cons are coming up, the whole gang here (over 20 people)will be seeing each other every weekend. i also talk to a bunch of people on line, as i'm sure everyone else does.

i'm not saying that there shouldn't be a picnic or not. have one. if i go, i go. lol it's not bother to me or others when it is. ^^

i dunno why it was such a big deal for me to come in and disagree about having a summer picnic. O.o (or maybe i just took your post the wrong way, which is possible. if i did, my bad.) at any rate, i'm not mad or anything, just explaining myself and a few others further.

Dunno about you guys, but between work and making shit for myself and my brother for AnimeNEXT and Otakon, I just don't have the time to manage a picnic at that time of year. Lizzy was completely right.

So yeah, be reasonable and wait til the Fall. I'm gonna make it earlier in the fall, like in September, this year to compensate for our lack of BAAF.

Well, people have other little get togethers and stuff anyway, and I guess it would be hot in the summer to be outside all day. Still getting over that nasty sunburn...>< Sad to say I will be moving June 22 (at least that's the way it looks right now), and won't be able to attend anymore events unless I relocate to the area again once I save up enough and become independant...=/ Going to have to find some stuff in Florida, hopefully...I know no one down there. >< Eh, maybe I'll surprise everyone and show up at the picnic anyway. I may just be repeating what others have said already but, I agree with those against another NE picnic in the summer. There is already so much going on at that time and I for one don't need to be sitting out in an open field for multiple hours in the summer sun *shudder*. It also takes away from the picnics that are already scheduled. Making them another ho hum everyday thing that not everyone is going to want to attend because it isn't special anymore. If you want to socialize with other cosplayers at a park, by all means, get people together and hold your own event. You don't need Oshi to plan everything for you (That's not to say I'm gonna drive all the way up from Southern Virginia to attend, but you can do it ^_^).

And kudos to Oshi for making the picnic exist in the first place.

Meeting with friends both far and near should never be lack luster. I always look forward to meeting old friends and making new friends, having a frequency to gatherings that encourage such meetings would never diminish that feeling. There are those who feel otherwise and everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the topic.

All are invited, but none are required. If the picnic ends up being just 4 people sitting in a park talking and eating lunch, that's fine, sometimes intimate gatherings can be even better than the larger ones. Some people have their best con memories going out to dinner with a group of people, or just hanging out in their hotel room.

It's not a collection of sounds that make the music, it's the mingling of hearts & voices.

...well THIS turned into a whole tension thread. i don't remember ever demanding oshi set up another one so soon...i was fine with waiting til the fall for the next oshicon/picniccon/whatever you wanna call it. but that DOESNT mean we can't meet up in the meantime, regardless of "con season". or maybe it's just tri-state mentality to do multiple things at once and squeeze in the occasional meeting of friends when we can. i'm sorry if whatever i said rubbed off the wrong way, but i still don't see how anything i said hinted at "OSHI I WANT ANOTHER ONE RIGHT NOW!". and i'm well aware of the heat and sun, but this is new york. if central park's shade can't do anything for us, there's other places to chill. the food court of 42nd st comes to mind, as does chinatown and st mark's place. never said we had to stay still, either, or necessarily have a picnic. although i realize i just said i want to have one. mmm...city hopping...

that being said, if you can't make it up here...don't come. that's all. there's oshi's in the fall and cons in the meantime, like he just had an anyeurism (sp?) over. i hope he's not mad at me for whatever reason though. though i must say excuse me for wanting to see some friends again...outside of a con. oh well. lizzy it was a general comment, i still <3 u?
