View Full Version : Sakuracon 2004 Report: Includes Pictures

Alright. This weekend I had the pleasure of attending Sakuracon 2004 down in Seattle. I only went for the saturday and I drove for 3 hours from Canada and I had a blast. Things I did:

-Watched a Fred "Piro" Gallagher conference. Man he cracks me up, so funny.
-Patrolled the halls getting pictures (Posted at the bottom)
-Watched some anime in one of 3 theatres.
-Attended the art show (wow!)
-SHOPPED (List posted soon)
-Dressed up as Reno of FFVII
-Watched DDR and other various games

It was a blast! It was in 3 different buildings and I stayed there allll day. One building was meant for simply shopping and I found everything I was looking for (but didn't buy ALL of it due to prices). Things I did get were:

-MegaTokyo Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 Mangas
-FLCL Vol. 2 Manga
-FFX-2 Rikku figure
-Evangelion Unit 02 Figure
-FFX-2 Rikku keychain

I saw some of the best costumes ever at this convention. And I took pictures of all the characters that I saw and actually knew who they were. THERE IS A LONG LIST:

I also must say about 25% of the people were dressed Naruto-related. But I'm not a fan so I didn't take any pictures of them.

This is pretty cool. Two people I have pictures of have found their way to them!

@AmiroKitsune: I was planning on doing a KH Cloud of the con but I couldn't find the time. I've actually been working on one that I'll be wearing at Anime Evolution in Vancouver BC. I have a question for you that will solve my problem: How did you get your wig like that?

OH, and did you join this forum right after the con like I did?

Hahaha, I'll let my secret out: I found this wig exactly as it is xD It was some old 80's wig that I picked up, and I figured "hey! This is perfect!" sorry that that doesn't help much. Oh, and should I dye it more yellow?
And yes, I found this forum just afterwards ^_^

@Amiro: Wow, that's pretty neat and I think the wig actually looks the best like that. When people try to imitate Cloud's anime-style spike thing it rarely turns out looking good. I'd leave the wig as it is and I'll hunt down something like it. And gosh man I wanna see an ATM pic!

@Riko: Your duct tape Sora was one of the most original things I've seen. I loved it man!

ClearTranquil: Welcome to cosplay.com, and it's great that people join up here after a con, either by word of mouth or via the business cards I pass out after taking pics of cosplayers. :) I hope you enjoy being a member here! Now I have to ask that you keep THIS thread strictly about Sakuracon reports, like include pros & cons, highlights & bad moments of the con, but do not include links to your pictures on this thread. I made a SPECIFIC thread regarding Sakuracon pictures, that if you have pics or seen pics of cosplayers, to post them on THAT thread. Thanks! :)

Everyone: Please post on the "Sakuracon 2004 Pictures" thread if you have pictures of yourself or others, and comment on those pictures there. Please keep this thread about your con experiences, etc. and stay on topic. Thanks X 2!! :D

Wow a kiss? I was Reno and I got a fangirl hug. But a kiss? Let's see what happens when I come as Cloud...

Hopefully I'll be able to make it to one of the cons in Canada and find more
KH2 characters! :D

My boy and I were dressed as Ed (http://cybergeisha.net/stuff/sakura04/stoneded.jpg) and Spike (http://cybergeisha.net/stuff/sakura04/spike.jpg) from Cowboy Bebop all weekend, and a million people took our picture - but I haven't seen ONE yet! :(

It's disappointing :waaaah:
