I had an eariler thread about a Vampyr makeup design I was going to try out. HOWEVER, I think I'd rather try to copy Richard's makeup-

Any ideas on how to do this?

From what I can tell it's just basic makeup O_o;... nothing too special effects-y... looks quite simple really (IMO)... although that can sometimes be the hardest makeup to do, lol!
The way I'd go about this is to get a pale foundation... preferable something with more of a pink tint than a tannish tint. Because I'm already very pale I pretty much have to cake my face in this stuff to make a noticabaly paler appearance. So I'd reccomend playing around with how much to use and see what works for your own skin tone.
Another thing you could try to get a pale appearance is to take the pale (pink toned) foundation I mentioned before and a white foundation from the Ben Nye line. Make sure it says foundation, though ^_~. It's less thick than the standard white face paint they carry.
I need to replay around with this idea to see what different ways you can do it, but what I did when I tried this during a show one night (I was bored and couldn't leave in case I needed to touch up any of the actors' makeup -_-;.) was I put on a layer of the white foundation first then the pale foundation on over it and blend.
One of the other things I did when playing around with this was when I'd be adding stage blood to the corner of my mouth to make it appear as if I just fed, I'd also add a slight (very slight) rosy tint to my cheeks. This is just one of my personal preferences and opinion that a vampire has a slight rosy blush to their cheeks when they've recently fed on warm blood.
Hrm... as for eyes... I'd vote not to line them... or at least not heavily... but I would use a black mascara. Or maybe line the top lightly... hrm...
Sorry ^^;... I haven't really thought much about how to do a male vampire's makeup... just female (especially since I was a renn vampire for this past Halloween).
Hrm... I may try to trick...er... persuade nicely a guy friend or two of mine to be victims...er... volunteers to help me play around with a few ideas I have...
I'll get back to ya if I figure out anything new ^-^.
*huggleness!*

I might have to try that...
The other thing is, I'm also blonde (Yes, that is a wig, suprisingly...) and I'm trying to figure out how to darken my eyebrows without looking horrible....

I don't know why the first thing that came to mind was perhaps...mascara? That way you're coloring the hairs of your eyebrows and not the skin below it.
If it were me, I'd probably work with a well-sharpened brown/black pencil. Then, instead of just drawing a line like we ladies do normally I'd probably try to make light "hair lines" with the brown-black, touch up with a little black, and then perhaps add the mascara last to darken the hair already in place.
But that's just me ;)

Hrm... well, for stage I've just used a pencil to darken the actors' eyebrows that are really light... not sure if that would work for up close though...
I think I'm gonna play around with my stage makeup and shoot some photos... maybe I can come up with something for the eyebrows... might not be able to, though, cause my eyebrows are really dark so it's hard for me to tell what would work ^^;;.

(sorry for the double post ^^;.)
The mascara's actually a good idea =D. Or at least it makes sense it would work.. probably get a brown mascara or something... unless the hair colour you want is black O_o;... just remember your eyebrows should be darker than whatever the hair colour is ^-^.
EDIT: Also, clear mascara is good for setting the pencil ^-^.

Well that's the other problem, but that's another section here....
I might have to go with black, even though it's supposed to be dark brown....
I'll keep ya posted...

Kay... these didn't turn out quite how I'd have liked them to O_o;... I should never try to take the pics myself -_-;... besides the fact I end up having too much fun taking silly pics I just can't seem to judge the distance between myself and the lens ^^;. Taking pics of other people is so much easier -_-;...
Anywho, this is really just to show what I did to my skin ^^;... ignore the fact I played around with a few more things (such as some slight eyeliner and my stage blood -_-;.)...
My skin is showing up in a couple of the photos a lot more pale than it looked in my mirror O_o;... then again the lighting in my bathroom sucks and I'm used to theatre makeup lights, lol! That would probably explain why ^^;. The one entitled "front" is the closest to what it looks like up close in real life. I find it funny that they start off really, REALLY pale... and then finally look at least close to what it really looks like, lol! This is what I get for taking the pics in my garage ^^;... but eh... it's night time and it was the most non yellow light I could find o.o;...
Basically what you want is just to create a "perfect complexion"... make your skin look like it's porcelain or something close to that. I didn't do too great a job on this (in fact I can point out every single place I missed or barely got any makeup there)... but you get the idea ^_^;.
Um... not that I did much else... but the goof off stuff I did (in case anyone is curious) was I did a thin line with a black pencil eyeliner (I would have used liquid, but I couldn't find it in my stuff >.<) and line the outside 1/3 of my lower lid. I attached the two lines at the outside corner of my eye to give it that more cat like look (not that I did a good job, though, lol!). I also added some purple eye shadow and extended it past my eyes outwards and added black mascara. I used my dark red lipstick and before it dryed I blotted the heck out of it and added gloss over the top of it to get that pale-ish pink that you see in the pics. And then I just dripped some of my stage blood from the corner of my mouth ^_^.
As I said, nothing really elaborate... I just couldn't stand leaving it with just the skin done ^^;.
As soon as I can get a hold of one of my male friends and get them to sit still for about half an hour, I'll play around with a more masculine version of vamp makeup =D.
Oh! And yes, I have fangs on in the pics ^-^. I love those things =3.
I'll try to do a better job this weekend or something if I don't have a lot of work to do... but as of now I gotta get back to my homework ^^;... but I really appreciated the brief distraction =D! Thanks ^-^!
EDIT: Note to self: get someone else to take pics next time -_-;... and don't take them when I'm uber tired... and get better lighting for doing actual makeup, lol!
2nd EDIT: Just a random thought while looking at Dracula's pic from Van Helsing... perhaps for the male version of the makeup make the lips look more pale? Eh... just ignore me right now... I'm just thinking out loud ^^;. But I think I may try that... although I definately will torture my guy friends by forcing them to wear lipstick for at least one of my experiments, XD! I'm so mean ^_^.

Niiiice.
But I think his lips are supposed to be incredibly pale...I had been playing with the idea just to have red lipstick on the bottom lip, but it would prolly look wrong...
There is a better still of him in makeup, but unfortunately, you'd have to go to the official site because it's captured in mediaplayer. :sulk:

Yeah... as I said I was messing around with a more feminine style of vamp makeup (which there should be colour to the lips at least in my opinion)... I do agree with the pale =D. It was just having fun since all I really cared about was the skin stuff ^^;. I'm going to kidnap one of my male friends and do the same thing I did with the skin, but pale lips and little to no makeup on the eyes. Maybe I see if one of them has pale enough eyebrows I can test out darkening them... I want to try that mascara thing Dany mentioned... I think my mom has some brown mascara... (I only have dark black as any other shade makes my eyelashes lighter =X)
Gah... I need to actually take some time to redo that later x_x;... and get someone else to shoot the photos, lol! At least you can't see my arm holding the camera up like usually happens, XD! Oh yeah... and excuse the lack of my hair being styled ^^;... I just had it still thrown back and up out of my like it had been for school that day and was too lazy to do a more vampy style >.>;...
Hrm... I also found a slighly different method that worked a bit better... since I discovered it was showing up extremely white in the pics x_x;... Instead of what I previously described, I put the pale foundation on first (a lot more heavy than I would for street wear) and then I took one of those makeup sponges, got some white foundation on it, dabbed it everywhere on face, and blended like crazy ^-^. I think that's why the pics ended up looking different now that I think about it... cause about half way through I washed it all off and tried a different style cause I noticed I was all but glowing I was so white ^^;... Oops!
I definately reccommend taking pics now before you go out in the world like that O_o;... just because most people are probably working with cruddy bathroom lights like I was last night >.>;... Gah, there is a reason I prefer to do stage makeup on my friends in natural light or makeup room lights >.<;... I don't get that nasty yellow sheen on their faces a lot of bathroom lights tend to cast -_-;.
So yeah, my rec. for the day: Test pics are your friends =D.

Well, I did decide to try it with modifications tonight. (Sorry, no pics. :( )
1. I put the ivory foundation on, then white cream makeup.
2. I used violet eyeshadow around the eyes, blending it around the skin, then covered up with a bit of ivory foundation.
3. For the eyebrows, I used mascara as suggested and it does work (I only had black, though)
4. My sharpener is crap, so I used liquid eyeliner for the widow's peak and sideburns
5. For the lips, I used ivory foundation STICK, which I blended in on my lips, then I put a layer of translucent red lip gloss on the bottom lip.
It turned out quite well as evidenced by my attempts at doing his-

"Ready to rip out Dr. Frankenstein's throat" face (Well, without the CGI enhancements, it looked quite different :skidude2: ) and

"I'm up to no good 24/7" face.
Now all I have to do is find the wig to go with it...

White face paint or white foundation O_o;? The former will give you a very, very white face if you aren't careful ^^;. Well, unless that's what you want o_O;... although, personally, I prefer pasty as apposed to a solid white ^_^.
Anywho, sounds good what ya did =D. Try to get pics next time ^_~. I always love to see pics of testing out makeup ^-^.

It's actually white stage makeup, but not that much. And maybe when I show progress photos of my costume, I'll wear the makeup...even though black eyebrows and dark blonde hair don't mix...

So you mean white face paint then, ya? Oh, and the white foundation is stage makeup too ^^;. It just says "foundation" on the back of it ^_^.
Sorry, I'm obsessed with makeup techniques for costumes and theatre ^^;;. Forgive all the questions, lol!

Ah, it's ok. I think you can get it under the Morbid Makeup Brand at Hot Topic, but I've never considered buying it...
EDIT
They don't have it year-round anymore!!!!

I did the makeup with the dark brown mascara and I had gotten eyeliner (regular pencil) for the base of the widow's peak and sideburns. However, the darn thing kept breaking in the sharpener and wasted away to nothing VERY QUICKLY! Should I try one of those where you twist it at the base?

Okay, sorry it took so long. But here's the photos-
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/AnnaValerious/DracktWIPCollage.jpg
So, it's 50% done...the makeup is the white creme makeup/ivory foundation mixed in, but I might go and check out what's called "Vampire Base" when I'm at the costume shop next time. I used the mascara on my eyebrows and it worked quite well. And I got the twist eyeliner for the sideburns/widow's peak. Around my eyes is a mix of blue and grey creamy eyeshadow, and I did the red lip gloss on the bottom lip with the ivory foundation stick covering the top.
Now, you notice that my nails and teeth look quite off...With the teeth, I didn't bother to glue them in since I was taking WIP photos. So in the top middle photo, you can see I'm trying to keep those teeth in place. And the nails...Damn nail glue I had dried up and I didn't want to run out since I was already made up. At least it'll look better in a few months, once I have the wig and my teeth glued in place.... :square:

You should put your eyeliner pencils in the freezer for ten minutes before sharpening.

Ah, good tip. However, I've gone for the twistable one since the other type had been driving me crazy...
