Im a fan of the movie Donnie Darko.

And I will be attending my first Con. in December here in Florida, OtakuCon.

The thing is, I want to cosplay as Frank from Donnie Darko.

How many people will recognize me in a Full-Body(Mascot Type) Costume from a movie?

This is Frank (http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/darko/images/screencaps/Frank_DVD_Cap005.jpg) by the way. And heres another Frank2 (http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/darko/images/screencaps/Frank_DVD_Cap044.jpg).

AAAAA!!!

I would recognize it... and I would think "Wow cool!" after i stopped running down the street screaming "Aaaaaaahhhhh!"

Now... technically Frank isn't very scary... but he certainly manages to look it. ^_^ More people will probably recognize you later this summer when the director's cut hits theaters.

Yeah!

Thats what im hoping for! I was planning to wear it to the Directors Cut as practice of how it would be at a Con. but the ears on the bunny would've ruined peoples view, I like the mid-section of the theatres.

I hope my Frank will be recognized by more and maybe i'll get to scare some little kids by "accident."

Good choice. Make sure to ask people why they are wearing their stupid man suits.

I don't know why you would outweight your theater seating preference over wearing a frank costume to the director's cut. The cons totally outweight the pros in that decision. Be Frank and sit in the back.

Oooohhh... being Frank and sitting in the back would be excessively cool. (In a sadistic "I like to see people in movie theaters be all freaked out" sort of way)

But if you don't want to sit in the back and the ears are problematic... you could just take the head off.. and still be Frank. @_@ eeehhrrrggghhh... Would that constitute a spoiler? I'm not sure. Either way... I'll be in another state, so it's all good as far as I'm concerned. Do people care about spoilers for movies that have already been out forever?

You guys are RIGHT!
And I will wear it to the movie re-release! you know why?...
"I can do anything I want...And so can you"<~~Frank.

Good to know some people know Frank as well as I do.

Godly- Thats the very 1st thing on my mind to tell them.
That and to burn down the mansions of TV-Gurus who are pedophiles.

FatwetDog- Oh yeah! I forgot about that. I guess I could go to Spencers or Party City and get some kits and stuff for a gouged out eye effect. LOL.

Also, you might want to keep in mind that you probably won't be the only one on the opening day. Donnie Darko has risen far above cult-classic status after it's dvd release. It's on the top 100 of all time on IMDB with an 8.3 (35,657 votes). So be the best Frank and make sure you can get the preferred seat so you aren't forced to take off the headpiece. Post pictures.

Well, when you put it like that, If they'll be that many people, Im gonna have to be the best damn Frank cosplayer there is!

Does that make it a Cosplay.com Frank first? cause that would be shibby.

I've gotten the idea of installing some white LED lights in the right eye of the mask.
**Remember the part(who could forget?) where he takes the knife and stabs the hallucination of Frank and his eye gets brighter and brighter?**
I might do that but i'll have to get some contacts I know to help me with that cause I aint no electrician and I dont want to catch fire either! LOL.

(8/11/04)EDIT: Can anyone at all give me any feedback on wether or not I should put in LED lights in the mask for a special effect? Should I post the pic on it as reference?

Frank, the evil bunny, who is neither evil nor a bunny. :p

I love that idea, the scary bunny mask is very recognizable IMO, at least to anyone who knows anything about DD.

That'll be great to wear it to the movie re-release. If you don't want to block people's view behind you (you don't want them to miss any DD goodness afterall) just wait until the theater's dark and just before the movie starts, take off the mask for the duration.

As for the light effect on the eye, that would be a neat touch, but don't burn yourself with it or anything!

I just have to say that this is a truly awesome idea and you really, REALLY should do it. And wear it to lots of cons too. I bet some people would even glomp you (which I would find hilarious. . . fangirls glomping anything amuses and scares me, but an "evil bunny"? Too funny).

BunnyBeth- BURNING UP is the last thing on my mind!!! LOL.

Space Invader- Thats hopefully what im here to change. lol.

Solaria- SWEET...if people ask me why I made this costume...i'll say "You should already know that."

Why are you wearing that STUPID man-suit?

DojoKonojojo

Uchiha Hiro- Best Quote! I like your penguin animation thingy too!

Ok! They glowing eye is a definate yes!
And I gots to thinking, some people are going to want me to take of the mask, just like Donnie makes Frank do, so should I go as far as to wear a bloody eye prosthetic(sp?) or not? Would it interfere enough with my mask?

It would look awesome to wear the prosthetic, but it could cause some problems in viewing the movie/walking around. It's hard enough to see through a mascot mask, but to have one eye covered, that could be hazardous.... VERY HAZARDOUS. I do love the idea though. I've been dying to either make or see someone make a Frank costume. It's so awesome, and so darn creepy. Cudos for Frank! ^_^

I was driving once somewhere in NC, a smalll town outside of Charlotte named Stony Point, and I saw a fridge outside on someone's lawn with a sign saying "Frank was here. Gone for beer"

I thought that was awesome.

A Frank costume would really rock.

Gothamy- Sweet! Im gonna put that on my fridge. LOL.

Does anyone know how to do the Solar Plexus thingy on PhotoShop? or if it can even be done at all?

Solar Plexus(i think) is the liquid thing that comes out of peoples chest and shows Donnie where they're going to go. Its kind of like that water monster from "The Abyss". Can that effect be replicated with PhotoShop or some kind of software like it?
